Rating: Summary: Best movie ever Review: i loved this movie--especially the ending! this was a classic eighties movie. it is a must see. if u are watching it and it is boring, just be patient and wait for the end--trust me, its good.
Rating: Summary: Joyce Hyser what a fox Review: Just One Of the Guys, is a great 80's movie, no doubt. It has everything, to comedy to being serious. Joyse Hyser should of gotten more lead roles, cause she is a wonderful actress, and very beutiful esp. in the scene were she is wearing the bikini by the pool. I seen the other movies she stared in, and with her talent, Joyce is the one that lights the scene. If you happen to read this review Joyce, I hope you take it to heart, cause you are a great actress, and we should see more of you, in leading roles. Take Care.
Rating: Summary: Get it off your chest Review: JUST ONE OF THE GUYS delivers a few cute jokes and one-liners. But it mostly kills time until the big moment when actress Joyce Hyser, disguised as a teen-age boy, reveals her actual gender. Watching the film's opening swimsuit scene, I wondered how JUST ONE OF THE GUYS would use the physical beauty of Ms. Hyser in the I'm-a-girl revealing scene. Well, "reveal" is what Ms. Hyser does. Could you imagine if the filmmakers of TOOTSIE had asked Dustin Hoffman to do the equivalent?
Rating: Summary: The most under-rated and overlooked movie of the 1980's. Review: How does a gem like this go unnoticed for so long?-- Leonard Maltin is the only moive critic with the courage to look past the fact that this is a teen movie and actually give it a fair chance. I kind of wonder if the other film critics I have read even watched the movie, or just decided since it was a teen comedy and none of the "brat pack" was in it it must be bad.-- This film is funny, unique, intellegent, serious, challenging, and, okay, sexy too. But compare this film to more popular cult 80's movies like "Valley Girl." I enjoy "Valley Girl," but compared to "Just One of the Guys" "V. Girl" is an empty movie. Sure, it's basic premise is great, the Romeo and Juliet story, the untouchable valley girl who falls in love with the rebel city punk, but the execution of this story, the acting, the cinematography, are all very substandard. Compared to "Guys" which is well shot, well acted, and well written. How it has escaped cult status is beyond me.-- The themes in "Guys" are deep, heck, they're even literary. The psychology, the sexual identity crisis, homophobia, social ineptitude, popularity, sex, career prospects, the end of childhood, sexism, peer pressure, music, fashion, appearance, I mean, you could just go on and on. You could write a book on the many levels this film operates on. You could devote a masters thesis on the literary interpretations of everthing from the characters, to the dialogue, the situations, even the images and physical appearances.-- Am I reading too much into a fluffy 80's teen sex comedy? Well, okay, maybe I am. But that's the fun of this film, it operates on so many levels it's staggering.-- RENT IT! You won't be sorry.-- And as for JOYCE HYSER (are you out there JOYCE?) this woman should have been a major MAJOR star. Her acting ability is matched only by her beauty. I've seen some of her other movies (like "Wedding Band"), films that are not that great, but she shines in them, turning each scene into something beyond the limits of the film she's stuck in.-- In one scene in wedding band she is at a restaurant about to propose to her boyfriend, her co-star (whom I won't name) seems to be sitting there waiting for his paycheck, but Joyce pours herself into the scene to the point that not only do you feel for her character, you feel for Joyce herself.-- JOYCE, we love you! Please do more films, I'll see them all.
Rating: Summary: THE MOVIE IS A CLASSIC Review: I love "Just one of the guys". It's funny and also a romatic movie all in one. The "girl" is great in it and so is her brother.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED IT------OUTSTANDING!!!!! Review: one of my alltime favorite movies.very well written .you will get a kick out of her younger brother buddy.you can't go wrong with this movie!!!!
Rating: Summary: THE BROTHER & NERDS RULE!! Review: this film was a lot better than i expected, but the girls boyfriend wasnt nasty enough for you to her to ditch .. her brother had all the best lines in this film and the nerds (one who looked uncannily like j cusack!)played their parts great.i did think the exposing of knockers at the end wasnt really needed but all in all if youre into teen films you will want to see it.
Rating: Summary: There is more to this movie than just laughs Review: Besides the fact that I love Joyce Hyser, this movie is more than just a girl who tries to be a guy. This is a movie about relationships and what their based on. It really makes a comment on how we choose the person we like to be with the most, and the image we choose, or not, to project to win them over. I'll be glad when the price of this movie goes down, and onto dvd so I can buy it. Hope to see other Joyce Hyser movies come down in price. And I hope to see her again in a title role, instead of a bit part, like in "Greed"
Rating: Summary: This Is A Classic. Review: This Movie Is About A High School Teenage Girl Who Poeses As A Boy At Another High School For A Writing Class. And She Meets Rick. I Like Rick Better Then Kevin. Kevin And Buddy Always Hated Each Other.
Rating: Summary: It was hilarious! Review: I loved this movie! The characters were hilarious, especially Coach Morrison, Willie, Phil, and Buddy. Joyce Hyser was awesome, and really believable. It's just all-around funny and really entertaining. I like the characters alot. It's a great 80's movie.
