Rating: Summary: Excellent Movie Review: I first saw Bill & Ted back in the late 80's and fell totally in love. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. This is one of the funnies clean comedies you will ever see. It stars one of the best actors in Hollywodd with Keanu Reeves as Ted Thedore Logan and Alex Winter as Bill S Preston Esquire. These two metal fans are trying to start there band the Wyld Stallions. When there parents find out the two are failing history they get slammed. Ted's dad threaten's to send him to military school. No way man. If that happens the band won't form and world peace won't happen in the future. Rufius(Carlin) is sent back in time to help them. He gives them a time machine so they can go back and learn history so they can pass there class. What a movie plot. Pretty original and creative. Reeves and Winter are awesome. Everybody knows who Reeves his, and this was his first big hit and one of his most successful of all time. He plays the metal head to perfection as does Winters. The two deserve more credit for what they did with this movie. It formed a sequel, and there was a hit cartoon show for a while after it. The 80's music is great in the movie. If hair metal is your thing you should like it just for that. My favorite part of the movie is in the San Dimas mall. Seeing all the historical characters there, and what they do is hilarious. I've never seen a person not laugh at that. Overall it's a five star and a must see. I was a little disappointed with the extras the DVD had to offer, but was so excited to see it on DVD. So sit down and prepare yourself for an excellent adventure with Bill and Ted. Your sure to like it.
Rating: Summary: Wyld Stallyns Rule!! Review: What can I say about this movie. I grew up watching it and it's still funny today. Keanu Reeves, as Ted "Theodore" Logan, and Alex Winter, as Bill S. Preston, Esquire, play two bumbling rock-star wannabes who must gather history's greatest icons in order to pass their class and graduate! Who wouldn't like this movie? Keanu is at his dumbest or should I say finest. The always awesome George Carlin plays their intergalactic guardian angel, Rufus. The characters from throughout history are just too funny. Watching them interact with each other and with people in the future is always good for a laugh. Genghis Khan goes crazy in a shopping mall. Napoleon acting stupid at a water park. Billy the Kid, Joan of Arc, Beethoven, Abe Lincoln, and Socrates (Bill & Ted pronounce it So-Crates like So-Cal idiots would). Yes, the movie isn't exactly intelligent substance but the concept for the movie is actually pretty original. But it's pure entertainment and you can just get lost for 90 minutes and have fun, and isn't that what movies are all about? And since it's a low-priced DVD, how can you lose?
Rating: Summary: "Something strange is afoot at the Circle K." Review: !Heather's teenage son!
This movie was so stupid and fun. The plot follows two air-head California teenage boys who are failing their History class. To pass, they have to get an A+ on their oral History report. If Ted doesn't pass, he goes to military school! While studying at Circle K, a time-machine/phone booth combination appears infront of them. A man named Rufus comes out and tells them they must go through history to pass this report and the future Bill & Teds tell them that they will have a most excellent adventure! Well, they were right. They had a most excellent adventure with hillarious results.
Keanu Reeves is definately better at doing stuff like this than doing a serious role. He needs to stop with that Matrix-type stuff and go back to comedy. I mean, he just sucks as a serious actor but I enjoyed him quite a bit in this film. The other actor was also great and a little bit better. George Carlin plays Rufus, which is awesome because George Carlin is one of the funniest men alive. The comedy in this film is sooo California that you have to live on the west coast or atleast have been there to get all of the humor in this film. Overall, this and it's sequel are both incredibly entertaining comedies that you must buy. 4/5
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: There is a lot of good-spirited innocence and an undermining educational value in BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE. Sort of a "Wayne's World" meets "Back to the Future". Just before the dawn of Beavis & Butthead, and Wayne & Garth, Bill & Ted were the most excellent dynamic duo of their day. Also, instead of a Delorean for time travel machine, there is a simple phone booth. Two metal heads, Bill & Ted (Keanu Reeves & Alex Winter) are supposedly the key figures for a utopian distant future because their band's (The Wylde Stallions) music will inspire generations for peace and harmony. A time traveller from that future, Rufus (played most-excellent by George Carlin) goes to Bill & Ted's era to make help them along to make sure the future is ensured. This means the duo must pass a certain high school history assignment that is to be presented at a high school assembly. Rufus/Carlin gives them the phone booth/time machine to gather historical figures from the past. These figures are to give their views of the modern world, specifically the city of San Diemas where Bill & Ted reside. The historical figures are unique and as varied from Billy the Kid, Socrates, Joan of Arc, Freud, Napolean, Beethoven, Genghis Khan, and Abraham Lincoln. The writers don't dwell on the historical figures being overwelmed by their time travel trip but rather let the characters treat it as "matter-of-fact". It actually lifts the movie and helps the story along by letting the characters accept their "time travel kidnapping" with little or no hesitation. Along with the basic time travel pitfalls and twists and turns that are handled well, the film does not become bogged down or "bogus". It is very amusing and fun to watch. Good performances all around from the two leads, Carlin, the actors playing the historical figures, and the location shots of San Diemas, this is a most excellent adventure.
Rating: Summary: Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989) Review: This movie is so #$*^ing stupid that it's good. Although the film is drenched in cliches, predictable, and has a lot of stereo typed characters, the film still offers a very comical experience. The film is a laugh out loud riot, so you can't help but enjoy this film. You'll be laughing when Ted's little brother ditches Napoleon at the Bowling Alley, or when the other historical figures are running around the mall. Overall, if you want a comedy that doesn't require a lot of thought, then look no further than this one. I highly recommend it.
