Summary: She's most definitely NOT all 'that'................
Review: Hello? The characters were 'real'?!?! Yeah right, and I'm the Queen of Sheba. This movie was a pathetic attempt at an update of the classic Pygmalion. It was just an excuse for movie execs to waste time and money on churning out run-of-the-mill 'teen' films, in order to cash in on this sudden 'boom' in the industry. It is a real shame that the other underrated, and brilliant films: Go and Election flopped, because 'teens' preferred to see this pretentious nonsense rather than watch fantastic actresses such as Sarah Polley and Reese Witherspoon in action. It's also sad to see that Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachel Leigh Cook still have acting careers. I guess they 'worked' as part of the set pieces - they both certainly seem to blend in well with the wooden chairs.

Summary: One of the best flicks of 1999!
Review: Contrary to some people's reviews, this movie is great! True that it's not original, but honestly, is there an original movie out there? I don't think so. I agree with the review who said it was a cross between several 80s movies--definitely an 80s movie for the 90s! Pretty in Pink is one of my favorite movies for the same reason as She's All That is--I love "Cinderella"-type stories. Prinz and Cook portrayed your typical jock-gets-geek, and it was wonderful!

Review: I absolutely loved this movie, being a teen myself. Although, it was obvious from the start that Laney was a cutie if you didn't remove the glasses and get her into some different clothes. Aside from that I really liked it. I'm not sure if it would appeal to some adults, though. Ah well. I recommend it. It's a good view.

Summary: This film rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I love this movie! I think I have seen it about 1,000 times! It is about Zachary Siler (Prinze Jr.), who has just gotten dumped by his girlfriend Taylor (O' Keefe) for Brock Hudson (Lillard), a guy who stars on the show "The Real World." So, he decides to make a bet with his friends that he can turn any girl into the prom queen in six weeks. The girl chosen is Laney Boggs (Cook), the class nerd. This movie stars Rachael Leigh Cook, Freddie Prinze Jr., Jodi Lyn o' Keefe, Matthew Lillard, Usher Raymond, Anna Paquin, Kieran Culkin, and Sarah Michelle Gellar (watch for her brief cameo!). It is too bad that they didn't release a soundtrack for the film cause the music is the best!

Summary: Three Words: Freddie Prinze Jr. !
Review: If you haven't seen this movie yet-get off your butt, buy it or rent it, and watch it whenever possible. This movie surpasses any other teen flicks released in the past decade. See, this movie is actually intelligent teenage comedy. Even adults could enjoy this movie a whole bunch! The storyline is fun to follow, the movie is fun to watch, and the fine male stars are fun to drool over! Freddie Prinze Jr. and Paul Walker are two of the most gorgeous guys in film today, at least see the movie for them. (See Fred in the "I Know What You Did Last Summer movies", and Paul in "Varsity Blues" and "Meet the Deedles") They both look particulary yummy in these movies! Rachel Leigh Cook also is very pretty and is great in this movie!(If you haven't already, see her in "The Babysitters Club Movie")Well, anyways, this movie is just plain entertaining! You gotta see it!

Summary: Satisfying Teen Fantasy
Review: This movie was cheesy and utterly predictable and was about high school kids. And that's why I loved it so much. I'm a graduate student and years beyond high school, but movies like this play straight to my old fantasies about becoming the most popular girl in school. Laney's rags-to-riches transformation was beautifully done, and I was melting by the time she finally stole Zach's heart. What a sweet, fun little movie! I appreciated the casting directors' choice of Anna Paquin as Zach's little sister--I was reminded of why she has already won an Oscar.

Summary: no Can't Hardly Wait
Review: Freddy Prinze Jr. and Matthew Lillard appear together in Wing Commander. That movie sucked, this one is only slightly better. Yes, we've seen this plot many times before. Preppie makes bet with another preppie that they can make a nerd cool, nerd gets cool, nerd discovers bet, nerd dumps preppie (who now really likes them), preppie espouses true love and retreives nerd. An extreme sense of Deja Vu here. Anyway, Lillard does what he does best, be obnoxious. He controls the camera whenever he appears. There was a scene so strange...it just totally went outside the movie, and I really got the idea that it was inserted later. It had absolutely nothing to do with the film, and an extremely different tone. The most energetic part of the movie is the great 90's style swing dancing at the ball, very entertaining. Unfortunately this lasts about 1 1/2 minutes. The movie touches on loss, and how it makes you hide from society; and living in a parents shadow. Both going to the central issue of facing life after high school. This breakfast club heart-to-heart is actually only discussed in passing though. In short, this movie wants to be a Peggie Sue got Married, and a Can't Hardly Wait all in one. It fails on both counts. I recammend fast forwarding to the Matthew Lillard scenes and the dance sequence at the end.
