Rating: Summary: This movie is Awsome! Review: I love this movie so much! I have it and watch it as much as I can! Everytime one of my friends comes over we always watch it! I know every word to it!
Rating: Summary: Horrid Review: Well, I rented this movie expecting something along the lines of PUMP UP THE VOLUME, which I remembered enjoying when I was fifteen. Instead, I was presented with perhaps the worst movie experience I've ever had the displeasure to endure. Amazon.com's reviewer wrote that the dialogue sounds like an Old Person's version of 'youngster speak'. Well, I'm around the age of these 'charicters' (I use this term loosely) and I agree: the self-speech by the 'philospher' at the beginning of the movie warned me of upcoming disaster. I buckled in...and found myself alternatively laughing and bemoaning the script, direction, and acting.I think what struck me most about 'Empire Records' were the steriotypical molds for '90's teenagers, in all their angst. Lets see: we have the Manic Depressive, the Philosopher, the Perky Do-Good whose all wired on speed, the gawky freak, the "dude" stoner... and on and on. The music was dated by the time this came out, and since this (supposidely) drives the plot and action, all we are left with is a piece of trash that most B-rated cult movies are superior to in the simple fact that they aren't so earnest in their convictions. They KNOW they are bad; they relish it. This is unfortuantly delusional.
Rating: Summary: Teen-Age Slackers, It Describes Us ALL Review: I got this movie because I liked the cover, and I thank myself very much for juding the movie by the cover. I love movies about OUR kind, teenagers who...don't do much. I have one thing to say, I WISH I worked there, it looks sooo cool, and the performance by Rory C. was FABULOUS! (Dazed and Confused man, another classic)
Rating: Summary: Very, very quoteable! Review: I loved this movie soooo much! It has to be the most quoteable movie in the entire world...any line within it can be said at one time or another in a conversation. :)
Rating: Summary: the time to hesitate is through Review: Ive seen this movie around eight times now and it still is my favourite! I love the music. I love Johnny Whitworths subtle acting skills, and Liv Tylers kind of Manic-depressive tendencies under her "good girl" image, which is portrayed well. Rory Cochrane is superb as the philosophic Lucas, an overseeing all-knowing Buddha on the days events.
Rating: Summary: This is a great movie/awesome soundtrack Review: I can't say this is a typical day in the life of a teenager, but is one great movie. I did watch this with my teenager (15). This movie has it all great lines, colorful characters and the best soundtrack ever. Keep watching through the credits to the very end where you will see a performance by the Gin Blossoms, something we missed the other 4 times we watched this movie.
Rating: Summary: If You Ever Want To Buy A Movie ... Buy This One Review: Ok ok ok... I know some people call this a cult movie (like Clueless) and maybe they are right -ok i know they are. But, this is one of the best movies ever made and it never gets the credit that it deserves. It is a clasic movie with clasic lines -"shock me shock me shock me with that devient behavior" and "the fat man walks alone". So ... if you haven't seen this movie and are under 21 WATCH IT! Thanks : )
Rating: Summary: Yummy, Yummy, I got love in my tummy Review: mmmm....such a good movie. Very entertaining. Not exactly oscar-worthy but not meant for awards and such. Great performances by Ethan Embry ((randall)he's SO funny), Robin Tunney, and Rory Cochrane
Rating: Summary: NEAT-O Review: I wouldn't watch it with my parents. But I'd definitely watch it at parties and things. It's one of those simple-plotted, feel-good comedies where everything happens that you expect and no plot points bug you. Easy watching.
Rating: Summary: A great movie, for anyone who like "The Breakfast Club". Review: A movie that you'll want to see again and again...the perfect gift for anyone who liked "The Breakfast Club". About a group of ambitious young people who work at a Record store. It stars "Armegeddon"'s Liv Tyler, and "Jerry Mcguire" and "One True Thing"'s Renee Zellwegger. It is funny, emotional, and provocative, with a soundtrack that anyone who likes rock will love! But be careful, because once you see this movie, you may never want to stop watching it! Thanx!
