Summary: American Pie is Good Pie
Review: You nmay think this is weird but me and my son went to go see this movie and we liked it eventhough few of parrts werent appropriate fro my son (he's14) we still enjoyed it because it was funny. I thought I was going to hate it like I hated Old School and Not Another Teen Movie but I didnt. THIS IS THE NUMBER 1 AND ORIGINAL TEEN MOVIE, If youre child unsterstands whats happening in the movie everything is ok.

Summary: Like Warm Apple Pie
Review: The movie starts with Jim trying to watch some "illegal" channel by his parents and for that point on you know you are in for a good movie. From making love to a pie, to stripping on the internet and laxatives, this movie has everything. Oh yeah, and SEX. Lots of sex. It is a teen comedy, about becoming of age, so of coarse there is going to be sex. I will never get tired of this movie, it always makes me laugh and it never gets old.

I highly recommend this movie as well as American Pie 2, if you are looking for an awesome comedy. I would not suggest this show for younger teens (10-15), this movie is full of adult content, so much that they actually had to cut out and change parts to even get an "R" rating rather then an "NC-17" rating.

Can't wait for the third slice of pie, American Wedding, opening in August of 2003!!

Summary: Great Movie, But Ultimate Edition is Ridiculous!
Review: OK, I love "American Pie." I've watched it constantly since I bought it Unrated on Collector's Edition DVD. Whenever I've had a bad or hard day, I curl up on the couch and laugh myself to death with this comedy classic.

You've probably heard about "American Pie," from one person or another. What you may not know is that it isn't your usual teenage raunch-fest. You know the ones. They've got annoying characters, unrealistic situations, bad actors and horrible soundtracks. "American Pie," while it does have its fair share of gross out humor and there's plenty of slapstick, silly scenes, features a truly honest and open story that's about that time everybody goes through; the passage from a teen to an adult and the decisions that go with it. The truthful story is sparkled with plenty of key comedic moments as the heroes try to reach the "Holy Grail." All the actors are dead on, with my favorites being Jason Biggs as the desperate Jim who has different views on what to do with an apple pie, Eugene Levy as the father who embarasses his son by trying to teach him about the opposite sex, and Eddie Kaye Thomas as Finch, the quiet, horny gentlemen with a hate for school toilets. And Shannon Elizabeth plays the character who sets up the funniest and most memorable scene in the whole film.

Well, a great movie deserves a great DVD, and while the Collector's Edition wasn't great, it was quite good, thanks mainly to a really funny commentary by the director, producer and stars. It is one of the best commentaries I've ever listened to, and I give it a big recommendation. There was also a fairly nice documentary, which was strictly for promotional purposes, but which ends up being rather informative. Of course, the usual talent bios, trailer, a music video, a "Classic Quotes" section, "Music Highlights," and some recommendations. The movie also came in a very nice anamorphic 1:85:1 widescreen format to preserve the director's vision, and a fine 5.1 track. This is the one I own, and in fact, I'm watching it right now (I'm on the part where they make the pact). The more recent "Ultimate Edition" is quite the rip-off hwever, and I am never going to buy it. What new stuff dos this version feature? Well, some deleted scenes, a couple original poster ideas, a new trailer in the recommendations section, and some colors are changed on the menu? Worth it? I don't think so, either. If Universal were to put out the proper "Ultimate Edition," I would say it should include a new documentary about the cast's feelings and the making opf the film, Unrated and R-Rated versions (Universal still wants to make a buck and released them separate, not that the two versions are much different), all trailers and TV spots, a new commentary with Chris Oz, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari and Allyson Hannigan, as well as the deleted scenes restored into the movie to make an "Ultimate Unrated Edition." Instead, Universal makes a real rip off disc. Does anybody buy a DVD to see previews of the sequel? I'd rather learn about the movie I'm buying. And while this set is two discs, disc two is the exact same but with a chopped and cropped pan and scan version made to butcher Chris and Paul Weitz' original vision of the movie. Only an idiot would want to watch that version.

Now, for the Unrated version, don't get your hopes up. Aside from a different pie scene, you won't notice anything else. This is another classic Universal rip-off (don't they have enough money, anyway?). There are five differences in the movie, four of which are so small I wouldn't have noticed had I not read previously what was included. Check the IMDB for a full list.

Anyway, enough of my ranting. My point is that the movie is a future classic and one of my favorites, but the Ultimate Edition is rip-off. If you don't have the movie at all, the Ultimate Edition will do fine, but if you own the Collecor's Edition, upgrading to the Ultimate Edition is comletely pointless, unless you really want to see some deleted scenes.

Movie: 6 stars ou of 5.

Collector's Edition DVD: 3 and a half stars out of 5.

Ultimate Edition DVD: 3 stars (because it's pointless).

Summary: Funny...but.....
Review: ...I don't think I could recommend it to anyone without STRONG, STRONG CAUTION. I watched this last night for about the second time, and I still felt the same way about it. It's nothing to rave about, but it DOES have its funny parts. I laughed ALOT. I just thought that some of the scenes were TOO crude...SO crude that I don't think I'd wanna own it, much less recommend it to anyone. If you can handle the raunchy material...and believe me, theres plenty...you'll probably enjoy this one. I dunno. I just don't like alot of toilet/sexual humor. Thats just me. For the rest of you, it will be fun, fun, fun.

Summary: Unrated and Rated. Let's Compare.
Review: There are about five differences in the Unrated edition of this masterpiece of comedy called "American Pie." Extreme spoilers follow. DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE. Also, Amazon, please post this review. While it is fairly graphic, I am using the professional terms of all of these words. Thank you very much.

In the R-Rated editon of American Pie, after Vicky pleasures Kevin with oral sex, his sperm is put into a cup of beer, where it is seen floating around. In the R-Rated version, the cup is yellow, and it is easy to see the semen, but it isn't 100 percent clear, because the beer is tinted yellow. In the Unrated version, the beer is clear and it is extremely easy to see the semen floating in the beer. It is a small difference but a difference nonetheless.

The second change in the Unrated edition is also the biggest. In the R-Rated version, Jim's dad (Eugene Levy) walks into his kitchen and discovers his son making love to the fresh-baked apple pie. He has it against the wall, and is humping it. When his dad walks in, he spins around and it is stuck to his crotch. In the Unrated edition, Jim's dad comes in and sees his kid lying on top of the apple pie on the counter and humping it (his buttox is much clearer in this version). The dialouge is the same, but Jim's father has different expressions in his voice then in the R-Rated version, and Jim's lines go with him on top of the pie, and not with it against the wall.

The third addition to this version is an extra page from the "Sex Bible" in a the scene right after the pie part. The extra page has words about different love-making positions, which include "Missionary Position" and "Doggie Style," along with illustrations. There are very funny sound effects that go with this page.

The fourth new thing in the film is some more moaning during the scene in which Kevin performs oral sex on Vicky. There is a LOT more moaning. Nothing big, but it is an addition.

This is the final addition to the film. In the scene is which Nadia undresses and slips into Jim's bed to pleasure herself (an awesome scene) is approximately five seconds longer, and shows more of her breasts and has more moaning.

"American Pie" has been released in four different DVD versions. There is the Collector's Edition R-Rated and the Ultimate Edition R-Rated, and then there's the Collector's Edition Unrated and the Ultimate Edition Unrated. Big fans will definatly go for the "Unrated Ultimate Edition" but I will say it is very hard to find. I own the "Unrated Collector's Edition," and I'm perfectly happy with it. The Ultimate Edition has very little new special features (it was made to cash in on the release of American Pie 2), except for some poster art, a music video, some different trailers, and deleted scenes. As far as the Unrated edition goes, there isn't a tremendous difference. You're not missing much by just getting the R-Rated version (and in fact, I like the pie scene better in the R-Rated version), but I;m sure REALLY huge fans will get both versions, which I think is ridiculous. The Unrated version of "American Pie 2" makes much more difference in comparision to the R-Rated version, but this one really doesn't. It's nice to have an Unrated versiob with cool new cover art and all, but it really isn't very different. As a friendly Amazon.com critic, I feel it is nice to let people know which version of a DVD is best for your collection, but this one is really just personal preference (or what a store has).

Anyway, I hope my review was helpful. Thank you so much for reading.

Summary: WHAT HIGH SCHOOL IS THIS?
Review: Welcome to the world of the jaded teenager - seen it all and done it all...except here in the movie. 4 seniors who have apparently never done ANYTHING with the opposite sex (maybe one guy...but just a little). Talk about a fictional movie. Our male virginal heroes set upon a quest to change their "status" by the end of the school year; conveniently the Prom is the "last day." The main loser (Biggs) discovers and learns absolutely nothing by films end, except that you have to be careful about judging someone...ooo, what a big lesson. I can't remember what the others learned, I think one guy discovered that hot blondes are better than jocks - it does not matter. The good news is that they can all go to college with at least one notch in the belt. Other than that, this movie is very funny!

Summary: This One Time....
Review: Teen movies. Teen sex movies. God love 'em. Up until now, these kinds of movies aren't exactly looked on with much praise or respect. "Porky's" made sure of that. That is the film that AP will probably be most referenced too. What a shame. This movie, while still raunchy and loaded with hormone crazed teens, is what a good teen sex comedy should be. It is very easy for the cynics to blast it and see it as nothing but a lame, unintelligible pile of trash that is just about horny kids wanting to have sex. How unfortunate for them. More on that a bit later. The plot for the film is pretty basic and has been served as a plot line for many a film over the years. We have a batch of kids, our nerdy hero Jim(Jason Biggs), cool jock Oz(Chris Klein), wild man Stifler(Sean William Scott), Intellectual dork Finch(Eddie Kaye Thomas), and nice guy Kevin(Thomas Ian Nicholas), who make a pact with each other. They all plan to lose their virginity on prom night. They, among many other teens in real life, don't want to leave high school as virgins. And what better night to do it than on prom night?. It happens in real life, why not in the movie?. Each one has a potential female in their lives. Oz has Heather(Mena Suvari), Kevin has Vicky(Tara Reid), Finch has Mrs. Stifler(Jennifer Coolidge), and Jim, well, he has band geek Michelle(the perfect Alyson Hannigan). Eugene Levy is also on hand as Jim's dad. One of the best parts of the film. While some people, mostly parents, probably won't like the message that maybe it's better to leave high school not being a virgin anymore, it is something that is a real issue with high school teens. I think they are a lot smarter than to follow what a movie says. They can make decision on their own. The film is nicely written. It has, unlike most other teen comedies, an intelligent script with good dialogue and well developed characters. But, as usual, there are many reviews who say otherwise. Over their heads. It just depends on if you actually look to see it. What makes the film most appealing, is that these characters can be you and your friends. Or, at the very least, people you know in high school. The friendships between the guys is nicely developed. You really get a sense that these guys are real friends. You can thank the actors for that. They really make their characters come alive and make them real and believeable. It doesn't need to be Shakespearean acting, because this is supposed to be about life. This is what these actors do with their roles, and they succeed. Lost on a lot of people. One of my favorite things about this film, an aspect that so many people didn't pick up on, is that this film really has a lot of heart. You really didn't expect a film like this to have a sweetness to it, but it does. Jim's speech about being sick of the whole sex thing at the prom was nice. The scenes with him and his dad were touching as well. This is what really made the film. The movie is really different because of it. Who would expect a movie filled with sexual innuendo and some crude humor, to be that way?. Unfortunatley, this part didn't get thru to a lot of bashers of this film. You may not like the aspects of this film, or the character's intentions, but that's life. I, for one, really enjoyed spending time in this zany, youthful world. AP is no cinematic treasure, but then again, it was never meant to be. Nor would it ever want to be. What it is, is a film that is hilarious, sweet, and a lot better than most people give it credit for.

Summary: Classic!
Review: This was one of the funniest movies that I've EVER seen. It totally put me in the mind of a high school boy...which is one thing I've never been! It took me back to those high school days and just made me laugh until I cried. The sequel was just as good...if not better. SEE THIS MOVIE!

On this unrated version I wasn't quite sure what the difference was from the one I saw in the theater. Jason Biggs gets caught in a different compromising position with the pie (a little more down and dirty) but that might have been it. I don't think there was any extra nudity, though. Just a little confused on that issue...but the movie is still wonderful.

Summary: Here We Go Again.....
Review: Yeah!!! Its ANOTHER teen movie. I was persuaded to go and see this film on the promise that it had something new and fresh to add to the genre. This was a lie. Jokes you can see coming from a mile off, Text book Farrelly brother gross-out, poor acting from the usual collection of potential teen stars, no plot, awful script and of course, sequels!!!
Why, what was the point?

Summary: Really Funny
Review: I've seen this movie a countless amount of times and it is great. It's about a group of four best friends all on a mission to lose their virginity before high school is over. They all go through hilarious situations in the film and I laugh my ... off every time i see it. It's not your average teen ... movie, it really is good. If you haven't seen it yet, you're missing out.
