Summary: These guys take chances...really.
Review: "American Pie" is daring in that it presents as its heroes 4 young men, relatively popular and good-looking guys, who have made it to their senior year of high school as VIRGINS! Amazing--it's been years since Hollywood portrayed teenage life in this manner. Anyway, "American Pie" is a raunchy teen flick happily devoid of the aesthetic ugliness that characterized John Hughes films (what happened to John Hughes?). It's actually a pretty funny film, even in its nastier moments (the, uh, hyper-expedited digestion scene with Finch is completely contrived and unnecessary). One question--why would Jim get jiggy with the pie in the kitchen, with the blinds open where anyone can see or walk in? He couldn't wait to get the luscious pie into his bedroom, where he could spend some private time with it? That one stretches the limits of plausibility. Really.

Summary: Unrated?
Review: The unrated version of this DVD is exactly what was shown to UK cinema goers! I was expecting to see something extra! O well, still a hilariously funny movie so long as you don't take it too seriously, and aren't easily offended.

Summary: Hall of Fame Funny
Review: Very , very funny...worth the price, everyone will laugh at this dare I say "Animal House" style film. Great video, great actors, spank the monkey funny.

Summary: Hillarious - Better for Open minded
Review: I'm 22/Male and come from a very diverse background. I thought this movie was a great depiction of what it's like growing up, especially for guys. Not to mention, the tremendous comedy they bring in by pushing the limits of traditional movies by making your imagination fill in the blanks to keep it appropriate. If you're open minded, and enjoy movies about life (and no, not the dull boring ones, but the exciting, funny, real ones) you should love it. (That's why I just bought it!)

Summary: Not for mature adults
Review: Boys trying to lose their virginity, girls waiting for the right time, moment etc. The same old cat and mouse high school antics. The plot only deals with sex. Good ending though. This film is not for anyone under 16, or over 21. Though it has it's moments, (the laxative scene) a comedy it's not! It is a teeny porn film disguised as a comedy. If I were a 16-21 year old as opposed to a father with impressionable sons, this would be a great film. Although it's not graphic visually, the dialogue is very graphic. It could have been done more tastefully, and the message at the end would have had more effect.

Summary: Great movie, but a misleading release
Review: While I found this movie hilarious when I saw it, first in theaters, and then on this "unrated special edition", I thought that the release was lacking. The producers try to push this unrated version on the consumer by advertising a plethora of bonus materials. Scenes originally deleted from the theatrical release, and a Widescreen presentation among other things. As far as I could tell however, the only thing changed from the original release is one scene, and that being a fairly minor change. The rest of the movie was exactly how I remembered it. For this, I find it rather audacious of Universal to release two different versions of the DVD, one theatrical and one unrated one, when they could have just as easily included that single cut out scene as a bonus feature in one dvd. Furthermore, the box says that the movie is presented in a widescreen 1.85:1 ratio. Not true. The movie is in a fullscreen format, which is incredibly annoying to most true movie fans. Despite these misinformities, American Pie is still a great movie and deserves to be seen. And for any die hard fan that is considering buying both the rated and unrated versions, don't. One is good, but anything else would be a waste of your time and money.

Summary: Hilarious
Review: I had heard this was a good movie, but untill I saw it at the theaters I had no idea just how funny it was. The only thing holding this back from a 5 Star rating is the exclusion of a Full screen version.

Summary: Too funny
Review: This is one of the funniest movies i've seen in a long time. It took me over four hours to watch this movie.I had to stop and rewind every few minutes because i was laughing so hard. This is one of those movies you'll never forget. Truly a classic in the making.

Review: A must watch, if not to buy, then to rent. Not replusive as the name and rumors say it is. If you have a dirty mind, this is perfect.

Summary: Mildly Funny Teenage Hijinks
Review: I must say that I was very disappointed in the film, "American Pie". Why? Because we've seen the formula done before and done better than it is here. For example: "Fast Time At Ridgemont High" and "Porky's".

Don't get me wrong. I don't completely hate the movie. The actors are very good with the material that they are given. Plus, it is well-directed. Also, there are several very funny scenes in this movie, but as a whole the film just desn't work.

Eugene Levy steals every scene he is in as the father who tries to deal with his pastry-porking son.

The DVD is nicely done. The picture is good, as is the sound. The film is available in an R-Rated and Unrated version. There is little difference between the two. Apart from the pie scene and a few snippets of dialogue, they are the same.
