Summary: Very Funny Movie
Review: I saw this movie last year for the first time after I heard everyone that I know to see this movie and I thought it was the funnist movies I ever seen. It is about 4 friends making a bet about making love on prom night. Alot of funny monents in the film including the scene where Michele tells what she did one time in band camp. So if you are in the mood to laugh then this is the movie for you.

Summary: Absolutely Terrible
Review: This film was made for all of us who are in the teenage years, or are in college. The humor was very stereotypical to what the people who made this film think we can understand. The people who made this film think that all teenagers can understand are jokes about sex and bodily functions. This is all pretty classy stuff.This film centers around four kids in their senior year in highschool. The main goal of these bad actors, lose their virginity by the end of highschool. Again, pretty classy stuff. The film makers think that all the feable minds of teenagers will be able to understand is the story lines about sex. The only thing this film needs to further belittle our intelligence is something blowing up. Seeing as us unintelligent teenagers love to see things blow up. This film is a waste and an insult to the intelligence of all that see it. There are some mature people in high school and college that deserve to see things that are a little more realistic, and not so stereotypical.

Summary: Suburban anthropology
Review: This is a cute, even sweet, coming of ager with an attractive cast. But be warned, if sex offends you, you will be offended. It is also more than a little on the juvenile side, especially the first half or so. I can't even discuss the subject matter on Amazon.com, which is just as well. And you DON'T EVEN want to know why it is called "American Pie." Suffice it to say that if you're past your early twenties much of this will seem lame and adolescent. If you're younger, you may just crack up over all the crude, but sometimes sharply observed humor. Thus the question: why did I watch it? Easy: Mena Suvari. The beauty of American Beauty is here a drama dweeb--or is that a drama geek? Actually she sings in a jazz class, which I suppose is close to the same thing. At any rate, she is not a cheer leader nor the queen of the hop, just a pretty girl with values. She is excellent. Also good in a supporting role is Alyson Hannigan (from TV's Buffy) as a nerd girl who surprises with what she learned at band camp. Eddie Kaye Thomas as the boy (Paul Finch) who learns that women only get better with age is just perfect. However, I think Jason Biggs was a little lamer than was absolutely necessary. Sean William Scott was true to his part as your classic neanderthal jock. Funniest line, from Biggs, after finding Michelle gone in the morning: "I was used--Cool!" Another reason for watching this film is that one does get some, no doubt twisted, idea of what passes for adolescent sexual preoccupation these days and can compare such notions to an earlier era. Call it suburban anthropology. As I was watching Mena Suvari I got to thinking about the appeal of her very captivating face. Like fashion models and other stars with child-like faces, we adore her. Why? Call it neoteny. This led to a further thought. In the future, as we continue to look more and more like our children, some day we and our children will look the same. (Perhaps this could be a good idea for a science fiction story.) Some say the appeal of imagined aliens is that they have child-like features (think of the big round heads and the big eyes). But really they are unconscious caricatures of ourselves and the values that we most esteem, brains and photogenic eyes. Anyway, American Pie is kind of sweet if you are not offended by vivid depictions of adolescent sexuality or crude bathroom humor. And there is more sophistication to the relationships than might be supposed at first blush. It ends at the prom, as all good American coming of age flicks should. The boys grow up and begin to learn the difference between love and sex, and the girls find they no longer have to teach the boys how to kiss. This is an American Graffiti for the new millennium.

Summary: you'll never look at warm apple pie the same again...
Review: Four kids make a pact to lose their virginity by prom night. An attempt by Jim on a hot immigrant named Nadia fails sadly. He finds his prom date in a dork from a band named Michelle. Kevin has a girlfriend named Victoria who isn't so intersted in sex. Chris joins the choir and finds a date in a choir girl named Heather. Finch doesn't have a date to the prom due to a suprise bathroom incident. In the end Jim scores with Michelle, Kevin convinces Victoria to score with him, Chris scores with Heather, and Finch does Charlie Stiffler's mother on a pool table. This hilarious tail of high school life is not for the faint hearted. It has funny moments like when Jim does an apple pie and when Finch has diarrhea in the ladies bathroom. Watch this for laughs and love.

Summary: Unrated? same difference!
Review: Don't get lured in thinking the "unrated" version is something special over the original. They merely changed two small scenes from the version that aired in theatres, and since the theatre version already went to the ratings board, and this one didn't, it's "unrated". The changed scenes are available in the extras menu. Hilarious movie though, highly recommended.

Summary: Funniest I've seen in years!
Review: I have not seen the unrated version, but the R rated film had me laughing outloud! One reviewer commented that this would probably only appeal to teens and people in their twenties. I beg to differ. My husband and I are both 32 and have watched this movie 6 times already! And for those few and far between who found this movie "disgusting"...all I have to say to that is have a nice glass of Merlot and lighten up Francis -- this movie will become a classic!

Summary: Missed It, Missed Out
Review: To make this short and sweet, one of the best teen movies since the Breakfast Club. I've seen the Unrated and the Rated versions, theres not much between them really, and the excellent comedy does not change or slump. A must for breaking the ice on teenhood.

Summary: FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN
Review: This movie is one of the funniest comedies of all time. I think tht anyone who has a mind for comedy would really like this movie. although thay added four scenes on to this movie i dont see it that much different that the normal one. they had to cut 4 scenes in the rated version to get an "R" rating. since this one is not rated they added those scenes on and they make it a little more fun. i love the outakes and the dvd-rom behind the scenes. so, if you like comedy this one belongs in your dvd rack.
