Summary: Still funny
Review: This is another comedy whose appeal is both undeniable and difficult to explain. Matthew Broderick, who sounds slightly congested throughout the movie regardless of whether he is faking illness, is a Chicago teenage maverick who decides to take a day off of school and goes to elaborate lengths to both fake illness and enjoy himself. I know that when I saw this movie in theaters as a teen, I loved the image of slickness that Broderick portrays, and his limitless popularity. The angry sister and principal are good foils to his shenanigans, and there is a definite value to the recurring (bomp-shicka-shicka) theme of the soundtrack. The most compelling subplot is that of high strung friend Cameron, who is convinced to borrow his father's highly prized car without permission. This leads to tension that in turn leads to some comic highlights, but the teary resolution in which Cameron begins kicking the car while dialoguing with his absent father is probably the low point of the movie.

Summary: Timeless
Review: Like another reviewer on this page, I must disagree with the editorial review that this movie is lost on the subsequent generations that see it. I can't think of anyone that has seen this film as a teen and not liked it or related to it in some way.

Matthew Broderick is Ferris, a dry humored, too smart for his own good Chicago area high school student that decides to play hooky with his girlfriend Sloane (Mia Sara) and best friend, Cameron (Alan Ruck). Playing his jealous and malicious sister, Jeannie, is Jennifer Grey, in a memorably hilarious performance that takes her on a mission from hell to get her brother busted.

The movie follows their adventures and the bittersweet realization that high school is not forever, as well as Cameron's own little rite of passage, which I will not give away here because Ruck does a great and believable job and its just fun to watch it unfold, especially the first time.

I could have given this movie 5 stars, but I refrained from such a high honor for two reasons. You have to wonder how two people as lost and Mr. and Mrs. Bueller could have spawned such a genius in Ferris, for he fools them in ways that perhaps we all thought of while we were in high school, but knew that we would never get away with. No one actually would get away with such an elaborate set up, and no one could think ahead to the possibilities that this film presented and not be considered psychic. The elaborate set up also makes a person shake their head because it's not always so simple to get away with skipping school, but it's not breaking out of Bergen-Belsen either!

The second reason this film does not receive 5 stars is because while I stated and hold to the opinion that this is a timeless film that has its appeal to young kids today, it has been overplayed on television now for years, and I can only watch it once every few years, unlike "The Princess Bride", which I can watch over and over again without tiring of it.

Summary: EXCELLENT
Review: An EXCELLENT movie or teens to adults. Bueller was made in the 80s, but is still very funny and lovable. I still think of his teacher calling roll every time someone isn't pressent when their name is called.

Summary: Bueller?....Bueller?
Review: I'm watching this movie now actually on Comedy Central, I also watched it last night! That is how great and hilarious this movie is! Never gets old!

Summary: Sloane dear, come to Daddy
Review: I am afraid I can not go into too much detail as the movie counts on surprise and anticipation.

Three high school comrades Ferris Bueller (Mattew Brodrick), Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck), and Sloane Peterson (Mia Sara) take the day off. They have several adventures which take them to many fun locations among which are a parade, restaurant, and just skirt being detected. Even though this is a teenage fantasy everyone can enjoy it.

Ben Stein gives the performance of his life as the enthusiastic economics teacher. "Anybody...anybody?"

Meanwhile the principal Ed Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), which knows of Ferris' devious ways, investigates and is foiled at every turn.

Ferris' jealous sister Jeanie (Jennifer Grey) has a few adventures of her own which include meeting a boy in the police station (Charlie Sheen.) She eventually comes to appreciate Ferris' ways.

Naive parents Katie (Cindy Pickett) and Tom (Lyman Ward) move blissfully through the movie only wanting what is best for their under the weather son.

For those musically inclined the movie is packed with great tunes.

Want a gummy bear Mr. Rooney?

Summary: Tom Sawyer reborn
Review: Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) is a totally charming, inoffensive scamp who decides to skip school for one more day of freedom, as his senior year in high school moves toward its end, and the end of his childhood/adolescence. He and his best friend plan out the day well, and they make the absolute most of it. Ferris had enough people convinced that he was genuinely (maybe even fatally) ill, that a "Save Ferris" campaign is started, including billboards and a sign on the water-tower (that really cracked me up).

This is a warm-hearted view of the waning days of adolescence and a thoroughly likable Tom Sawyer-like clever mischief-maker who is totally harmless, and not quite ready to let go of his childhood. Many laughs, lots of smiles.

Summary: Great movie!
Review: Ferris Bueller is a great movie and everyone should own a copy. You get to go through a day of ditching school in Chicago and see all the wonderful things to do downtown. Everybody has at one time in their life, wished that they could ditch school and take a wild trip and never get caught. Well if you were never able to do this, then Ferris can help you.
Ferris has a master plan of how to enjoy his day home sick. Being a great friend he can't forget to include his best friend and girlfriend in the day trip so they are along to join him. Throughout the day many things happen that normal people would end up getting cought. This movie is just over 90 minutes so everyone should take time and watch it. You may just find your new favorite movie!
