Summary: Holds Up Phenomenally!
Review: I haven't seen this uncut I guess since the mid 80s and was surprised how well it holds up. There's not a dull moment and it's extremely well-staged and directed by Amy Heckerling (Clueless, Look Who's Talking). And it's incredible the cast they assembled, including Sean Penn in what is one of the classic comedic performances of all time. The DVD itself looks pretty good, although I believe the sound is mono. Extra features include a 40+ minute documentary which goes on too long but is worth seeing because it shows a lot of the cast members as they look today.

Summary: Funny yet True
Review: This is a memorable classic as those who grew up from the sixties to the rpesent day could relate to the fun times during one's high school years. Each of the characters whether it be Damone, Spicoli, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Hand, or Mark Ratner has memroable qualties about them. There are so many funny lines and several interesting sub plots that almost anyone will be hooked from start to finish. Sean Penn probably gives his best performance and Judge Reinhold is quite convincing as well as someone who thinks he has it all together but really does not. Rent this one tonight, you will not go wrong.

Summary: Along with "Up in Smoke"...the two best comedies ever!
Review: This is one of only a handful of movies that I continue to pull out and watch time and again. I haven't seen the DVD version and my VHS version is recorded in EP format from another VHS and even though the picture quality is slightly less than I would like, it still in no way diminishes the fact that this is a true classic and comedy masterpiece. Anyone who "experienced" that era (i.e. mid 70's thru mid 80's) would have to enjoy this movie. The opportunity to see great stars in the earliest stages of their career, not having even the slightest hint of what a great movie they were making just adds to the movie's greatness even though it seems like most of the actors and actresses involved now try to distance themselves from this movie. Especially Judge Reinhold, who has nothing to fear. He has established himself as a great actor and a similar scene in "Something About Mary" has all but made Ben Stiller a star. All the characters are well developed and acted and so, so believable. I think that's what really makes the movie work...it's believeability. Ignore the cultural naysayers and just "...wing on over to London and party with Mick and the Stones...". Buy It, Rent It, Live It!

Summary: DVD a little disappointing
Review: I first saw this movie on television and loved it. Although it was edited for tv i knew this was a classic. I then rented it and although it was even better as an r-rated feature it was slightly changed. Music had been replaced in certain scenes such as when jj leigh is walking down the high school hallway to a great tom petty tune it had been replaced by a much more depressing number(on the vhs version, thankfully the dvd has the tom petty number). And some of my favorite scenes in the movie were takin' out like brads visit to the guidance counselor. This is a movie that is begging, kicking, and screaming for a directors cut. Also, the reliving our fast times documentary could have been better. Its mostly about how they got the cast. Not a lot of insight into the making of the movie. However, this DVD redeems itself by an outstanding commentary track by the director and writer. THEY KEEP TALKING ALMOST 10 MINUTES AFTER THE FINAL CREDITS! All in all this is a classic worhty of 5 stars but for a DVD a little dissapointing.

Summary: Be warned --- this is the theatrical release....
Review: Others have mentioned this, but it is worth repeating: The TV version most people know is NOT represented here. There is close to 20 minutes of deleted footage that was reinserted for TV running time. It's always been my opinion that this footage helped the movie along quite a bit---not only are some of these cut scenes the funniest shot, but they expand the characters beyond cardboard cut-outs. That Universal was too lazy to dig these up is just inexusable!

Summary: Pointless
Review: Fast Times at Ridgemont High is a good movie if you're bored and have nothing else to watch. Its basically a bunch of teenagers going through life. No real plot or anything. There are a few interesting parts, but other then that, this one is just boring.

Summary: 80's hit
Review: If you were growing up the 80's, you will love this movie. This is not necessarily a family movie. There is one scene that has to do with Judege Nielson stimulating himself (not graphic) while fantasizing about Phoebe Cates who happened to be over at the house swimming. Jennifer Jason Leigh is nude in one scene.

Summary: DVD has scenes changed
Review: I was disappointed with the DVD of this movie, mainly because it was missing scenes I expected to see. I could not find Eric Stoltz' scenes, for example. Apparently they were cut. Surely they could have included cut scenes as a menu option. Other DVD's have this feature. Also the sound is monaural and my SONY player experienced its infamous lipsync problem in parts of this DVD.
