Summary: Great movie and great DVD
Review: The movie you most likely already know: classic campus comedy, great individual performances by so many young actors and actresses, and then there is the "Moving in Stereo" scene.But what you probably want to know about is whether the DVD is worth buying. Take it from me, buy the thing, the documentary is great, the special commentary is interesting and informative, and the list of music is fun to review (played with the scene in which it was in the movie). Plus, being able to skip to the chapters (of which I do wish they had subdivided into a few more) helps find many of those classic scenes. If you liked the movie in the 80's you'll love the DVD now. And the Canadian reviews a bit below this one are as hilarious as the movie.

Review: Exellent portrayal of high school kids during the late 70's early 80's.Sean Penn is very amusing as a burn out surfing dude and turns in a memorable performance.Very enjoyable film with "rockin" soundtrack.

Summary: Awesome when first viewed. Does it stand the test of time?
Review: I was probably the last one in my group to see this flick. In the very early 80s, this movie was a riot, delightfully risque to the teen-age mind - a virtual fantasy to a lot of us (who wouldn't want an easy score like Jennifer Jason Leigh), with several points of relevancy. A lot has changed since those days, and viewing this movie in hindsight - almost 20 years later - makes one realize just how politically correct times are today. Not that that's a bad thing. Imagine a high school freshman like Leigh so casually considering an abortion today? That's not to say only 30-somethings will find this movie funny. Even after the 80s and 90s and all that made them unique, this movie isn't totally outdated - it still has its moments. But don't expect those seeing it for the first time to find it as hilarious as you do in all your sentimental journey. Still, this is, in my opinion, Sean Penn's best role to date, as Jeff Spicolli, the typical partying clown of the early 80s. Jennifer Jason Leigh in her most underrated role, exciting the hell out of all us who at our young age dreamt of scoring with such a willing little cutie. But if a flick like this were to open up at your local theatre today, there'd be hell to pay for those involved. I think when viewed these days, I laugh merely because it reminds me of who I was, who me and my friends were, or weren't back in that time. But does it have the staying power a true comedy classic does? My guess is that's a purely subjective conclusion.

Review: this is a movie of nastalgia( i hope i spelled it wright) and to the one's who have seen the movie know what i mean by my one linner on the top. to the fans of the 80's movies its a must to add to your callection. im not saying its the only reason to see the movie it's far from it. this movie also has an actor who whould later "ROCK" the house.(if u know what i mean) the scene im refering too is cut out of the network versions. although there is no real plot, it is a comedy that will have u rolling on the floor, cring in some parts.:)

Review: If there is a must see movie about high school life in the 80's....this is it. Southern California high school life at it's finest, with the help of a lot of stars-Sean Penn, Eric Stoltz, Jennifer Jason-Leigh, Judge Reinhold, and who could forget Ray Walston as "Mr. Hand". You WILL enjoy this movie! This is a "KEEPER".

Review: Im a child of the 80's (Yikes!!) Man, this movie brings back memories. It's not a masterpiece or anything, just lots of fun to watch. Say, what is the deal with all the postings from Montreal? No big deal, just really curious.

Review: And that's the way it was.... An incisive look at high school life in the early 80's, right down to the Pat Benatar look-alikes. For the now 30-somethings of that era characters like Mike Damone, Jefferson, & Brad Hamilton are legendary. But the one who steals the show is Jeff Spicoli. It is nearly impossible to believe that is actually Sean Penn behind that mop of blond hair & stoned smile. This was the first of many great Penn performances where he literally pours himself into the role and becomes the character. Watch for unexpected cameos from Nicholas Cage, Eric Stoltz, & Anthony Edwards among others.

Summary: Unapologetic, pure 80's fun!
Review: Amazingly accurate, dead on portrayal of high school life circa 1982. Jennifer Jason Leigh is wonderful, Judge Reinhold and Sean Penn have some of the best lines in cinematic history, and the guy who played Damone (what's his name, anyway?) is a riot. Favorite lines: "This shyness routine is really starting to aggravate me." "Hey, I found your wallet. Want it back?" "The Attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays or prays. Whatever happens, your toes are still tappin." "That was my skull! I'm so wasted!" "Hey, there's no birthday party for me here!" "Doesn't anybody #@*%! knock?" (who could forget that scene?) "Not bad for a high school boy." "What are you people, on dope?" "Awesome! Totally awesome! All right Hamilton!" I could go on forever with this one. Great soundtrack...I can't hear Jackson Browne's "Somebody's Baby" without thinking of that scene where Stacy loses her virginity. The book that the movie was based on is also worth checking out, if you can find it. It is even funnier than the movie, if that's possible. "Learn it! Know it! Live it!"

Summary: CULT CLASSIC SPAWNED A MILLION IMITATORS.
Review: First of all, what's with all of the Canadian reviewers? With that out of the way, "Fast Times" is the one slapstick movie of the '80s (and there were a lot of them) which still holds attention and impact on teens. It is a wild ride through the lives of ten or more different personalities. Unlike other reviewers, I don't think the abortion scene detracted from the goofiness that made the movie special and created so many of today's stars. If you liked "Fast Times," I highly recommend another teen movie of the same year: "The Last American Virgin"--which, incidentally, has the very best '80s soundtrack around (can only find it at the video store, though). Oh yeah, "No shirts, no shoes, no dice." "Learn it, know it, live it."

Review: A definite comedy for the 80's! My favourite highschool comedy film. It makes you wish that all highschool's were this much fun! My favourite actress in this movie is Phoebe Cates("Shag") and my favourite actor is not Sean Penn, but Judge Reinhold("Beverly Hills Cop"). A great soundtrack album and featuring first time appearances and bit parts by stars such as Forrest Whittaker, Eric Stotz, Amanda Wyss, Anthony Edwards, Pamela Springsteen, James Russo, Nicholas Cage, etc.
