Summary: Classic... a movie to watch again and again
Review: I have to say this is one of the funniest movies i have ever seen. This has got everything. It's a really stupid movie but clever at the same time. I own it and have watched it 10 times and never gotten tired of it. Offbeat humor is plentiful. A great cast with Kirstie Allie and Kirsten Dunst are perfect for the parts. Its a movie you can just pop in for friends and have a great time, laughing like crazy. I reccomend it to anyone looking for a good time, ready to have fun. My favorite quote, (and i even have it on my desktop) Hey sad pants and serious sally! How bout a nice cold mint to turn those frowns upside down?!?! Would a nice cold mint help if i shoved your head up your A**?!?! So much great stuff. My favorite comedy and documentary of all time. A true cult classic. You need this dvd.

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: This movie is "off-the-hook"! The Minnesota accents add to the humor (everyone sounds like Bobby's Mom on the cartoon Bobby's World). This is clearly a movie to watch after you have had a bad day. The rivalry between Amber (Dunst) and Becky (Richards), clearly adds edge to this obvious and predictable comedy. If you like Saturday Night Live satirical and parody humor, this is the movie for you. The over exaggeration of tragedy adds to the slapstick comedy element of this film.

Summary: Not the movie of the year, but I liked it
Review: Drop Dead Gorgeous pokes a lot of fun at the Minnesota residents, and the pursuit of the Teen Princess title. The docmentary aspect of the film is what makes it a winner. The 3rd person format makes it totally unbiased towards the contestants, and allows us to see things that a first person approach would have left out. This helps keeps the mystery of who the murderer is.

That's right, not only a beauty pageant, but a murder mystery as well. Two for the price of one. I particullarly like the nonchalant attitude that everyone has about what is going on. That made it even more enjoyable.

Kudos to the actors who made so much fun of the Minnesota accent and attitude. I'm sure this ticked off a lot of people in that state and brought up a whole bunch of "stereotype" arguments. Oh well. I got a kick out of it.

While there are a quite few things in the plot that you can find holes in, it rarely matters where a comedy is concerned. All in all, this was a well spent time in front of the tube.

Summary: This is certainly something.
Review: At first look, this movie was a huge mess to me. With each subsequent viewing, I learned to just loosen up a little bit and laugh a little bit. This movie is extremely silly, and done in a style that takes some getting used to. It certainly is unique. Kirsten Dunst is good of course, and the movie is well acted. If you are in the mood for something light, but different, give 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' a try. Laugh a little bit.

Summary: Decidedly un-PC and funny as hell
Review: I love this movie! Black comedy is the first thing that comes to mind when describing it. 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' doesn't leave any stereotype untouched. If you're easily offended, this may not be the movie for you, but if you get and enjoy the satirical touch, I think you'll really like it. Kirsten Dunst (Amber) is great. Denise Richards (Becky), another main character, doesn't leave as much of an impression. Kirstie Alley is great as Becky's psychotic mother, determined to get her daughter the crown, with a full-on stereotypical Minnesota accent that's really quite amusing. Actually, everyone in this movie has a tinge of an accent going on. If you just want a movie that's not afraid to piss people off...get this one.

Summary: Liked the Movie, But was Offended by Some Characters
Review: In general, I liked this movie (I've seen it numerous times), but I don't like the characters that were played by Kirstie Alley and Denise Richards. They (along with their husband and father) are a bunch of snotty racists. They make offensive remarks against Hispanics, feminists, blacks, and Jews. Gladys Leeman literally kills the competition so that her spoiled-brat daughter can have a shot at winning. She acts superior to everyone else simply because she's from a rich family. She shows it when she says, "What are you looking at, huh? A whole town full of losers, that's what I'm looking at." As if SHE thinks she's better! But Gladys does get what's coming to her when her own daughter perishes in an accidental explosion on a parade float (not that I think it's good for anybody to die, but you know what I mean), and she gets hauled off to prison when she gives herself away as the murderer. In the end, Amber Atkins (Kirsten Dunst) wins out. It's kind of like a good vs. evil story. Otherwise, I liked the movie.

Summary: Good... but lacking in some ways
Review: "Drop Dead Gorgeous" is a black comedy about what goes on behind the scenes of a small-town Minnesota beauty pageant. Somebody seems intent on sabotaging some of the contestants, and Amber (the film's protagonist and main character) hasn't escaped being a target- she's gotten a threatening note, a potential boyfriend has been killed in a hunting "accident", and a trailer explosion has gruesomely injured her mother (you'll have to see it to believe it). The question in this movie is not only who will win the pageant, but whether the various contestants will even survive the process.

While I found this movie original and entertaining, it didn't quite hit all its marks. The documentary format didn't always seem to work- the camerawork was always too polished, and long stretches of time would pass without any kind of interaction between the characters and the people "shooting" the documentary, making it a little surprising when a character would suddenly say something to the screen. I also would have liked to see more from the supporting characters- as charming as Dunst is, I didn't find her character particularly interesting enough to carry the majority of the movie. And what about the humor? It's very dark, and at times hilarious, but some things didn't work out. I'll admit it must be hard to generate laughs about things like eating disorders, brutal murders, and the mentally handicapped, so I at least give the producers credit for trying.

Despite its flaws, this movie is an adequate choice when you want something that doesn't take itself too seriously. At very least, the scenes involving the pageant's embarrassingly awful talent competition are good for some laughs.

Summary: Couldn't stop laughing
Review: I could not stop laughing when I saw this movie. It is just so funny. All of the accents are very well done and the writing is excellent...you should see this movie when you are in the mood for a lighter film, especially if you want to laugh.

Summary: Fantastic Funny Film!
Review: If you are looking for a different, kind of underground, darker comedy then this is it! Drop Dead Gorgeous is set in a small trashy Minnesota town called Mount Rose. Its a [fake] documentry following the the American Teen Princess Pagent and all of the crazy things surronding it in this town. Who will win the local pageant? The snob, the athlete, the girl in the trailer next door, the dog-obsessed, the sign language girl, the skank or the one who has a gay brother in New York? The characters are all very humorous in the movie and every time I watch it I just crack up. The winner of the pagent is not all THAT predictable but its interesting to see the 3 major events after what happens at the local pageant. If you want one of those one of a kind, funny films then this is the one!

Summary: Drop Down to the Bottom
Review: I thought this was a very stupid movie. It wtarts off with a pleasant beauty pageant and suddenly gets into murder and gore . This "comedy" went right down the drain with me and with some people I know who have seen it. I recommend for anyone that has real movie taste to skip it.
