Summary: Lizzie Goes to Rome
Review: "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" sees our favorite Junior High students embark on International mis-adventures.

THE STORY:

Lizzie and the gang graduate from Junior High and embark on a summer field trip to Rome with their new High School principal. While in Rome, Lizzie hooks up with Italian pop-sensation Paolo (apparently all cute Italian boys are named Paolo, see the Olsen's "When In Rome" for details) and substitutes for his estranged singing-partner Isabella for whom she is a dead-ringer. Action, adventure and romance ensue as Lizzie pursues her relationship with Paolo, lives the life of a pop star, escapes evil Principal Miss Ungermeyer, and catches all the sights of Rome. In the midst of it all Lizzie learns some valuable life lessons courtesy of Paolo, Gordo and Kate Sanders????

THE ANALYSIS:

The movie starts off quite a bit slow but once in Rome the action begins to pick up. Most of the cast from the series returns for the movie (with the noticeable absence of gal-pal best-bud Miranda). Overall the charm of the series stays through for the movie. Mind you, I'm not a regular of the series (seen a few bits of a few episodes when the Mrs. watches) but from what I've seen of the series it seems like it's pretty much like the show (animated Lizzie and all).

THE DVD SPECIAL FEATURES:

You've got a pretty stuffed DVD features section here, but unfortunately A LOT of it is Disney fluff. Included in the DVD special features are:

1. "Hilary's Roman Adventure" - 12 minute behind the scenes feature where the cast and crew (mainly Hilary) discuss everything from the movie, their experiences filming it, comparisons to the TV show, their experiences touring Rome and Hilary's life on the set (still needs to go to school).

2. "Hilary Duff Music Video - 'Why Not'"

3. "In the Recording Studio with Hilary" - 2 minute feature where Hilary discusses her upcoming CD release.

4. "Roamin' Volare" - The Tour of Rome scene with Lizzie and Paolo on the moped done up music video style.

5. 3 deleted scenes with optional director intro commentary.

6. "Sneak Peak" Trailers: The multi-million dollar Disney marketing machine was in full force here!!! This stuff actually plays when the DVD first loads but Disney was nice enough to put in a navigational link to it on the menu in case you wanted to watch it AGAIN. Disney shills the following from their extensive product line:

a. "The Lion King Special Edition DVD"

b. "Lizzie McGuire" TV Volume Sets

c. "Kim Possible" TV series

d. "Sleeping Beauty Special Edition DVD"

e. "George of the Jungle 2"

f. "That's So Raven" TV series

THE VERDICT:

In all, if you're a fan of "Lizzie McGuire" you're bound to love the movie if you haven't seen it yet. Too bad Hilary and Disney couldn't come to terms on a deal as the movie was an ideal branch from the original series set in Junior High to the new seasons they'd have set in High School. Overall though, the movie makes a fitting end to a great series.

Summary: Barbie Girl
Review: Why, look. She's gone from voiceing an ugly, gawky drawing on a dumb cartoon to having her own live-action moive. Another overblown child star. Please. Balance her in a undoable position on the cover of her DVD, give her a miniskirt, blonde braids, and an ugly floral trunk, send her to Rome, you've got yourself a stack of money. What an excellent role model. Did someone say role model? She's like a living store display. Her first song is "So Yesterday" -- who came up with that title? A ten-year-old? Oh, wait. She did. It's my idea that if you can sing, you probably can't act (Madonna), and vice-versa, it's just too many talents for one person. You can badly voice what's just another ugly, cheap, meaningless, and badly-done cartoon, what a good reason to think you can have your own wannabe CD and cheesy movie! A movie based on a Disney-channel cartoon - what's the world coming to?

Summary: Hilary Duff Dazzles Us Again!
Review: Hilary Duff is sooooo hot! She depicts Lizzie perfectly. When Lizzie and Isabella are up there singing, you wish that you were right there in the middle of the concert! Igive it % out of 5 stars.

Summary: Lizzie Is GREAT!
Review: Well I do have to say that I am certainly not a fan of Disney anymore due to the fact that he goes around suing public schools for stupid reasons. However, all personal opinions on that subject aside I do like Hilary Duff and I think for such a young girl she has amazing talent. A lot of people say that the plot was cheesy but I think it was easy enough to understand for the younger generation and I think it fit in with Disney's genre. Anyway, the only disappointment that I had in the movie was the basic time she didn't spend with Gordo. I know that the movie is all about her but I think she should have sneaked off with him a couple of times. Indeed my very favorite part was the concert part due to the fact that I think Hilary and Isabella shine the most in that scene and the music is also VERY catchy and I enjoy listening to it over and over again. So, great job Hilary!

Summary: Better than I thought it would be....
Review: I wasn't sure how much I would like this movie but I finally saw it and I liked it. It was much better than I thought it would be. I even liked it much better than "The Princess Diaries" movie. I'm in my 20s and even I liked it. Its such a cute movie.

The movie starts off from where the tv series left off. Its graduation time and Lizzie and the gang are finally graduating from middle school. Lizzie has to make a speech and since she's very nervous talking in front of people, she just makes a mess out of things. Its explained that her best girl friend Miranda isn't at graduation because she's in some trip in Mexico.

After that hideous scenario Lizzie and her friends head to a graduation trip to Rome before starting high school. Lizzie hopes to start over and leave her past behind her. Once in Rome Lizzie bumps into famous singing sensation Paulo who mistakes her for Italian pop star Isabella.

Isabella looks just like Lizzie except that she's got black hair. In reality Duff is playing both roles. She corrects his mistake and he asks to meet her the next day, she eventually agrees.

She pretends to be sick and manages to fool her eccentric but strict chaperone Ms. Undermire, after the class leaves for a day of sightseeing, Lizzie sneaks out and meets Paulo. He takes her and shows her Rome. He convinces Lizzie to pretend to be Isabella at an upcoming awards show to avoid a lawsuit from the record label and Lizzie eventually agrees in order to help him out.

Meanwhile...Gordo is covering for Lizzie and figuring out that Paulo is shady and has something up his sleeve, and Matt back at the states with the help of his conniving friend Melina wants to find another way to humiliate Lizzie.

They find out through the internet that Lizzie is mistaken for the famous pop star Isabella and figure out that they can humiliate Lizzie even more. Matt manages to convince his parents that he really misses Lizzie so the whole family gets on an airplane to Rome to visit Lizzie.

Kate eventually figures out what Lizzie is up to since she's Lizzie's roommate and covers for Lizzie. Its so predictable but it was still cool to see how it would all end. It was cool seeing the different sights of Rome. Okay now I want to go to Rome myself. I also like when Lizzie stepped onto stage and did her show. That was fun.

Overall its a cute movie that I'd definately recommend.

Summary: La Dolce Vita
Review: "The Lizzie McGuire" movie is just too cute! If you are a fan of the show, you will love the movie. Suprisingly, I didn't miss Miranda for a second! Hilary Duff and Adam Lamberg do an awesome job as lovable Lizzie and quirky Gordo. The entire cast makes for an enjoyable, funny movie. The plot may be a little cheesy, but it's all in good fun. The scenery is beautiful, the music is easy to sing along with, and the story is amusing. Good fun!

Summary: Duff Stuff
Review: This movie was cute. It was pretty predictable, however.

Lizzie, Gordo, Kate, Ethan, and their new high school principal all go on a trip to Rome, Italy for their summer trip. During this trip, we find out that Kate and Ethan have broken up (finally!!) but end up getting back together (aww..). Gordo and Lizzie's relationship grows as well during the plane ride both to and from home. This movie takes the Lizzie McGuire series to a whole new level of what's out there in the real world for teenagers and preteens as well. Hilary Duff portrays Lizzie McGuire well both in the series and in the movie. Although this movie is quite predictable (like I stated earlier), it is cute to watch. I own it, but I don't watch it over and over. It's probably something to rent a couple of times and possibly purchase. If you have children who like the Lizzie McGuire series, then they will indefinately like this movie as well!

Summary: Worst Movie Experience Ever
Review: I rented this movie on Saturday with a very open mind. I watched it on Saturday night and thought it was the worst movie ever! The acting is mediocre and the plot is equally bad. I normally like the show so I'm not a Lizzie McGuire hater, but this was an extreme disappointment. If you want to have respect for Hilary Duff do not watch this movie. It is so horrible it will make you want to cry. The plane ride to Rome was the highlight of the movie and the clothes were pretty cool. Oh, and how Lizzie ignored Gordo the whole movie made me annoyed at her, but I guess the end for them is as good as it's gonna get because it's Disney.
