Summary: Where were you in Austin in the 70's?
Review: Maybe it's the fact that you don't watch R rated movies, but this is exactly the High School of Austin, Texas that I remember in the mid 70's. Not a glorification of drug and alcohol abuse, but an honest approach of what the 70's in Central Texas were. A Liberal thinking youth surrounded by deeply conservative Texas.

Summary: A hilarious party movie that you can watch over and over!!!
Review: This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's fun, wild, and never gets boring. It portrays all different "cliques" of high school: the cool kids, the druggies, and the unpopular. It is a great feel-good movie that will keep you laughing and will brighten your day. p.s. - also great soundtrack!

Summary: Maybe I was on a different planet
Review: Having graduated from high school in 1975, I was somewhat intereted in seeing this movie. I generally don't watch R rated movies, but at the insistance of one of my kids, I watched it. The sets were authentic, as were the costumes, makeup and music. But the 'everybody's drunk or high' atmoshpere? I just didn't see it when I was going through high school. In the end I saw it as nothing more than my kid's attempt to get me to condone or lighten up on his lifestyle.

Summary: Very Funny
Review: I'm a Rockabilly kitten. I hate the seventies. I thought it was a depressing era. However, I must admit, this movie is good. I live in Austin, Texas (where the movie takes place). I met Wiley Wiggins(the one who gets spanked) at a bar a couple months ago. He was a very nice guy. It was funny because his personality seemed the same as it did the movie. Anyway, this is a very good movie, but only if you watch the original version. I watched it on USA a while ago, and it was stupid because all the cuss words were bleeped out, which detracted from the essence of the movie.

Summary: Possibly the best party movie!
Review: This was a very good movie! It was mostly what happend in the 70's, the one of the best decades in the century! It was all topped off by an awsome soundtrack made by some of the best bands in the 70's! I reccomend it to anyone who likes great party movies!

Summary: STONED, DRUNK AND HAVING A HELL OF A TIME!!!!
Review: This movie could possiblly be the best movie about high school life in the 70's I have ever seen. If you enjoy lots of excitement, teen age life, drugs, and nice cars, this is a movie that you must see. It is a movie you will watch over and over again just because you can't take it all in the first or second time. The movie is a teenage free for all, partying, and having a great time with out their parents knowing it. The characters themselves are great, Pink, Slater, the best, "Are you cool man?" This movies makes me wish that i could go back in time and go there, or atleast be IN the movie. They had to have a great time making this movie. I really think they should make a sequel to this. Bring all those people back. HEY LINKLATER! IF YOUR OUT THERE, GET THOSE GUYS BACK AND MAKE A SEQUEL!

Summary: Another absolutely dead-on portrayal of 70's teens
Review: This film ranks up there with "Over the Edge" as an absolutely dead-on portrayal of what it was like growing up in a small suburban town in the late 70's. Unlike a lot of the current 70's nostalgia trip that focuses on such esoterica as disco, the porn industry, and the Brady Bunch, this film focuses on the average teenager - and as a result it will bring back a lot of memories that have somehow gotten lost among the 70's nostalgia. (Example: Anyone remember all the Bicentennial bruhaha, such as the decorated mailboxes and fire hydrants? :) If you were alive at all during the mid to late 70's, or wish you had been, get thee to your local video store and rent both "Dazed & Confused" and "Over the Edge" right now for an instant trip down memory lane!

Summary: Dead On Characterization of Teen Life In The Late Seventies!
Review: I was just entering high school at the time this movie is set and I was amazed at how close the director came in capturing teen life of that period, right down to the clothing. I had friends in high school that could have been characters in this movie. Though I was half a world away on a military base in Germany, the same attitudes among teens prevailed.

Summary: Simply a masterpiece for our times
Review: Affleck's "O-B Badass" is one of the most memorable characters in film. From his first appearance as a failed, "fifth year" senior onward, Affleck soars as the quintessential high school bully. And while he rightfully gets paint poured on his head, his departing threats and violent exit give his character an almost tragic dignity. I think that in a film colored by stereotypical characters, he's the absolute best. Whenever my friends and I sit down and watch the film for the hundreth time, we always look forward to Affleck's passionate, hillarious, and self-defeating antics.
