Rating: Summary: Pure, AMAZING CHO! Review: This is one of my favorite DVD's. If there was an option to give this ten stars I would. Margaret Cho is the funniest person alive. Yes, she can get down and (very) dirty sometimes....but that is the point. Buy this DVD, get the VHS...or at least rent it from the video store.
Rating: Summary: Makes your cheeks red! (all of them) Review: This is another very funny comedy concert by Cho, but it is definitely not for the squeemish! A lot raunchier and sex-obsessed than I Am The That One I Want. Blush-inducing to be sure, but wickedly funny. At times you think, "where can she possibly go next," and then she finds a direction and is off and running. Not as moving or personal as the earlier film, but a guaranteed good time for the fans. Everybody should try to see her live, it is a real treat.
Rating: Summary: Margaret Cho, COMIC GODDESS!!! Review: Having been a fan for 10 years, I can honestly say this is Margaret Cho at her brilliant comic best! I followed the NOTORIOUS show from its early stages at LA's Largo in February 2001 to tour stops in San Francisco and Long Beach, bumping into Cho and opening act Vaginal Davis on a plane en route to their Las Vegas performance. Her first stand-up film, "I'M THE ONE THAT I WANT," was a compilation of Cho's tried-and-true material, combined with poignant stories of her near-demise and rise from the ashes. "NOTORIOUS" is fresh, startlingly frank, and blatantly in-your-face, chock-full of sexual exploits, bodily experiments, and the always welcome "Mommy Stories." Without a doubt, the shining moment of "NOTORIOUS" is the Beaver Fever segment. If you've ever wondered what type of porn Margaret is into, this will answer every question you might've had, and some that you might NOT have had! "COME AGAIN!!!" Also not to be missed are "Grocery Store," Margaret's animated collaboration with Bruce Daniels which preceded the film in its theatrical presentation, and the DVD's audio commentary, which is a riotous performance by Margaret as her mother. Margaret's voices and impersonations are dead-on, her timing impeccable, every performance solid and consistently funnier than the last. Whether you're looking for a stand-up film, a gay-related flick, or a DIVA EXTRAORDINAIRE, "Notorious C.H.O." will not disappoint!
Rating: Summary: Unbelievably crude Review: My 18 year old daughter asked for this DVD for Christmas. I happened to be in the same room when she played it later that week. I couldn't believe the raunch! I tried to keep an open mind, but I had to walk out. I had seen Cho on cable & she was funny, but nothing like the DVD. I'm really sorry I bought this. It's just plain crude.
Rating: Summary: Loving Margaret Cho's DVD Review: Margaret Cho is fantastic. I want to tell the world about her. She is so funny. I can't wait to tell the man at the fish market about her (he's Korean).... I am black..(he pretends as if he is madly in love with me whenever I walk through the door.. I am 6'1 and he is 4"11 and whenever I bring my boyfriend he IGNORES ME>>> hahahaa.....) But anyway. She rocks..I am going to convince him (the owner of the Korean Fish Market) to go out and buy her DVD and go to see her in her next concert..He will believe me.. He has been my Korean boyfriend for about 11 years.. I asked all my gays friend if they heard of Margaret Cho and they said GIrrrrll of course. So I guess I am a little late. I am spreading the word about the Notorious CHO. She's great. I am happy for her and I am extremely proud of her..
Rating: Summary: Funniest DVD Review: This is some of Cho's funniest work. Her previous film, "I'm the One That I Want," was great because it touched on all kinds of issues: race, gender, sexuality, lookism. "Notorious C.H.O." gets more detailed and intimate on the sexuality issues. It's the funniest and most thought-provoking routine I've heard on sex and gender. Very feminist. Plus, Cho still includes hilarious pieces on racism, lookism and stories about her mom. Overall, Margaret seems to be having more fun this time around. The DVD is a GREAT bargain because it also includes interviews with her parents, a hilarious animated short by Cho, and a commentary track done by Margaret as "Mommy" that had me crying with laughter. You can watch the film and then go back and watch it with the commentary and it's a WHOLE NEW show. You're laughing for different reasons. Definitely the best extras I've seen on a DVD.
Rating: Summary: Notoriously B.R.I.L.L.I.A.N.T. Review: This DVD will have you on the floor. Margaret, again, captures the pulse of what is going on today and can make you laugh and think at the same time. If you loved "I'm The One that I Want" you will love this. Buy it, rent it, borrow it from a friend now!
Rating: Summary: CHO CHO CHO Review: Ms. Cho once again delivers a tape of hysterical and irreverant quality. I rented it locally, laughed by ... off, bought it right here, and have now watched it with numerous friends. You may not like all the subjects she touches on, but you'll love the way she touches upon them.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious! A movie only Trent Lott could hate... Review: Margaret Cho is a national treasure! In the tradition of Richard Pryor and Lenny Bruce, Margaret Cho pulls no punches. She is hilarious, wickedly smart, deeply political (in the best possible way), and ultimately so compassionate and human that through all of her fire, she makes you feel great about yourself and all the possibilities of being who you are. Notorious C.H.O. should be mandatory viewing for every elected official in our land, not to mention anyone who's ever felt all alone on this crazy planet.
Rating: Summary: A dvd gem! Review: Margaret Cho is hilarious! Bravo to her for telling the truth about her life, and not trying to fit into what society wants her to be. Her comedy is much more than just "sex talk," or whatever the other customer reviewers are calling it -- she is truly an inspiration. My friends and I laughed and laughed and we quote her all the time. Also, the extras on this dvd are really cool. Margaret's commentary as her mother is like having a whole other show. Sorry to see that others missed the point, but give me Cho any day. When her next show comes around, I will be there.
