Summary: "He's gotta be pleased with that one..."
Review: Poeple who watch Caddyshack and don't see what all the fuss is about have made the profound and immense mistake of watching it sober. Honestly, watching Caddyshack without a cold one in your hand is as pointless as Crystal Pepsi.

Besides, if you haven't seen Caddyshack by now, it's probably been ruined for you. Half the men in America ages 20 to 40 can recite every line, in sequence, forwards and backwards, in six different languages. They'll also tell you it's the greatest film ever made. Why? Because it's the first naughty comedy they ever watched. Because it's got Ted Knight's finest comedic moments. Because Lacey Underall was the driving force in their pubescent development. Because even the useless Irish maid "Tanks fer nuttin', Danny!" has unintentional comedic value (and briefs that go to her chin!). Because it just happened this way. Who knows? Who cares?

People accuse Caddyshack of being stupid. No kidding. You can tell that from just looking at the box. Caddyshack is, in fact, the stupidest film ever made. It requires no brain at all to enjoy, which, like an AC/DC record, is what makes it so much fun to begin with. Only a critic would tell you some other comedy was better because it was more socially subversive or made a more profound statement about society. Zzzzzz... Here is a movie designed to be a riot from start to finish, and it is. It is not meant to be watched alone. It is not meant to be watched if your favorite filmmaker is David Lynch. It is not for your film class. It is for meatheads, and thank God someone made a movie for them.

Summary: Seriously, People, This Film Is Really Bad.
Review: This has got to be one of the most overrated, overpraised, and overhyped films ever made. It baffles the mind as to how it is revered as a comedy classic. Dumb, juvenile humor goes on for over an hour and a half, but not once did I break out laughing. The pool scene got a chuckle out of me, but that's it. I kept waiting and waiting for the one scene to redeem this film, and here it is three days since I've viewed "Caddyshack," and I'm STILL waiting. Honestly, there are better, funnier films than this.

Summary: I've seen dumber movies, but not by much...
Review: Somehow I had heard several times over that Caddyshack is a comedy classic. Having now watched it, I'm baffled as to where that judgment comes from.

I kept waiting for the laugh-out-loud moments, but not a single one ever surfaced. There were a few mildly amusing bits, mostly notably from Chevy Chase's soft-spoken character. But overall, I just can't fathom how this movie came to be considered with such reverence.

Maybe people had different ideas of comedy in 1980. But if you want to see a Harold Ramis film, stick with seeing Ghostbusters or Groundhog Day again, and pass this one up.

Summary: This Movie's Alright
Review: This movie is hilarious! It tells the story of a caddy who wants to go to college, but doesn't have the money. He gets a caddy scholarship from a tournement he wins, which ensures him an education. But there is a war going on between the Chairman of the Board and a guy who wants to be a member. The former is a snob, and the latter is a slob, and so they don't get along. It all culminates to a round of golf between them and the caddy gets drawn into it. This movie has some of the funniest jokes I've ever heard in my life. If you've never heard the Dali Lama speech, or the Cinderella Story speech, you've been cheating yourself. Go see this movie!!! You'll laugh until your sides split.

Summary: Four!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: A brilliantly well-done comedy starring Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, and Bill Murray. These actors took a desent script and turned it into a hilarious comedy. Chevy did not play a funny character, but he keep a somewhat serious part in the movie. Dangerfield helped the movie out with his humorous lines and rude antics. He could do it anywhere he wanted because no one was going to stop a man who has as much money as he does. Finally Bill Murray and the Gopher kept you laughing with their man vs. animal scenes. Bill Murray is just trying to become head greens keeper, but has to kill a gopher that does not want to be killed. As he thinks of way to kill the gopher he justs gets himself in more trouble and he ends the movie with a bang. I think this is the best comedy of all-time and the best charcter in the movie is pobably the gopher and most people would agree.

Review: A brilliantly well done comedy that starred Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, and Bill Murray. These actors took a desent script and turn it into a hilarious comedy. Chevy really did not have a funny part, he probably had the most serious character in the movie. Rodney helped out with his wise cracks and extremely rude antics that no golfer would ever do, but if you had as much money as he did you would not care either. Bill Murray and the Gopher were the best characters in the movie. They made the whole man vs. animal scenes work really well. Bill played an extemely crazy man who was trying to get rid of the gopher. He wanted to become head greens keeper, but caused mass destruction instead. The gopher made me laugh more than any other animal in a movie and was really a big part of this movie. This is the best comedy I have ever seen.

Summary: The slobs -vs- The snobs
Review: This is a classic comedy that is still funny after so many years, I have read the reviews of this film left by others regarding the picture, I am not sure what they are talking about?!, I thought it had a great DVD transfer, the 19th Anniversary edition that is, they could be referring to the initial release of this film years earlier, however everyone plays their roles to perfection, Chevy Chase plays what is probably his best role as a playboy who golfs for fun, not scores, Rodney Dangerfield is perfect as a free-living, humorous & rude real-estate developer who loves getting a rise out of the late Ted Knight's uptight judge, & Bill Murray is lovable as the dim-witted groundskeeper who has a personal war with a gopher that is the film's real star, watching these characters unfold in neat as is Michael O'Keefe as a ambitious caddy who longs for somthing more, Cindy Morgan is Knight's niece with a questionable reputation, definately a movie that anyone could probably relate to, with the exception of some gross-out humor, the candy bar most noticebly, it is a straight comedy as Dangerfield squares off against Knight, watching these two is like watching politians go at it, but Murray's obsession with killing the gopher is never dull, watching the gopher react to his future plan of ridding him is funny as Murray uses plastic explosives in the form of other animals, this film had a sequel that had potential & had Murray & Dangerfield attached, but bowed out after Warner Bros. refused to compromise a script rewrite by them, only Chase returned for that one with little screen time, I highly recommend the original, but pass on the sequel, why Warner would allow Murray & Dangerfield to walk on the follow-up just shows how arrogant studio executives are, the follow-ups failure was their reward, the original is one of the best comedies ever!!!!!!!

Review: This movie is a classic, and desirves 5 stars. Don't listen to the other reviewers! This movie is hilarous! The movie itself is worth purchacing...on VHS only. You get almost the same features. The picture on this DVD just plain [is not good]. I compared it to the full-screen version that recently aired on Cinemax, and the amount of grain was incredable. The one on TV looked better that the dvd! The grain was obvious by looking at the grass and the sky, which looked absolutely terrible. The old dvd must be what they use for Cinemax, because it has a better picture that the 20th. The sound is a crappy distorted mono. Yikes! The amount of features on this disk would have been on the first dvd release, if WB had any sense. And instead of having outtakes and deleted scenes in the documentary, have them seperate, which is the normal way to do it! Oh well, thats WB for ya. Anyway, the movie is a classic, but just stick to the VHS.

Summary: Caddyshack doesn't live up to expectations
Review: I wanted to see Caddyshack after hearing recommendations from many people I know telling me that it was really funny. I looked often to find a copy but never could in stores but I finally found it thru [amazon.com]
On internet, reviews I read only seemed to confirm how funny it was.
So I ordered it, received it and watched it- sorry, I just can't agree that it is funny. It is way over acted and simply flat.
I would definitely recommend that others don't buy it.

Summary: A must own for 80s comedy fans and golfers
Review: The bonus features, picture quality, and sound quality on this DVD are good. This movie is a classic comedy that golfers and non-golfers will enjoy. The all-star cast is excellent!
