Summary: It's not the original, but the formula still works
Review: Maybe I have a bias because I live and work in Las Vegas (vacationed here 5 times in 6 years before making the final move), but this Vacation movie does grow on you. A lot of the cheap shots they take at Vegas itself---i.e., the scortching weather, the exotic dancer business catering to young bimbos, the aggrandizing and self-indulgence of one Mr. Las Vegas himself, Wayne Newton---are funny sometimes because there is a little bit of truth to the zingers.

Outside of the Vegas jokes, the Griswold clan is funny on its own. Led by the slapsticking Clarke Griswold (Chevy Chase), the family runs into spats of outrageous luck, and outrageous nonsense. They really should be the poster-child family for Las Vegas, because those dual qualities mirror the qualities of this unique American city.

Beverly D'Angelo, playing Ellen Griswold, only seems to become more attractive. There's a clever cameo by the supermodel, (Christie Brinkley) who had her debut in the first Vacation movie, and it lets the audience know just how much time has passed since the film series began.

Chevy Chase is predictable in his role as the well-meaning, and often clumsy father who only wants to give his family the perfect vacation experience. For Chase fans, this is the kind of movie you have come to expect from him (outside of those two Fletch efforts), and you will not be disappointed.

I would buy this DVD and add it to my Vacation collection. It may not be as good as the first, but it is certainly better than the 2nd, and probably just a little less laugh-out-loud funny than the third, so-called Christmas Vacation.

Enjoy!

Summary: The Griswald's Worst Vacation Yet
Review: I love this series. I love these characters. But, even I have to admit that this is a huge disappointment. What makes it even more disappointing is that it came off the great, hilarious classic that is "Christmas Vacation". Clark Griswald takes his family(including kids who haven't aged since 1983)to that great vacation town of all time : Las Vegas!. Now, that has the ingredients of something really funny, but the filmmakers didn't exploit it enough. They didn't really use the silliness of the town for great comedy. It just kind of flounders. There is a scene with Christie Brinkley reprising her role from the original, which is a nice little touch. Randy Quaid returns as Cousin Eddie. He has a few good lines, but is not the great comedic relief he was in "Christmas Vacation". Chevy Chase does his best with a weak, flimsy script, but even he couldn't save this dead dog. As I've stated before in other "Vacation" reviews, the actual road trip to the destination, like in the original, is what makes it work. Hopping on the plane and getting there in 2 minutes doesn't help things. It should always be a road trip adventure. Oh well, that's just me. I do have to admit that this fourth actress to play Audrey is really hot!. If all else fails, you got that. If there's a fifth film, I think the kids need to be their real age(early 30's), and the Griswalds take the grandkids to Disneyland or something. Just a thought. Let's hope there isn't another 'Vacation' movie, unless they can get their act together and give us something as fun and memorable as the first and third. Alas, it might be time that The Griswald's actually started staying home. Wally World anyone?.

Summary: Not A Bad Movie By Any Means
Review: Ok, so it may lack the punch of the other films, and it may seem to be repetitive, but Vegas Vacation is still a hilarious film. Just like the previous films, there's a numerous amount of hilarious scenes that are very memorable. And as for the critical reviewer who mocks the "dam/damn" puns, he can jump off a damn dam, because it was a damn funny scene at that dam. ...You'd enjoy that part if you saw it. Anyway, Chevy Chase and Beverley D'Angelo are back on another vacation, this time to Las Vegas. Once again, anything and everything happens to the family and you can't help but enjoy laughing at it. From the satirical look at gambling and casinos, to the stupid antics of Randy Quaid, you can't help but like this film. It may not be as good as the other films, but it is still very well done.

Summary: Funny, but it doesn't have that hilarious '80s formula
Review: 'Vegas Vacation'- a movie made 8 years after the 3rd National Lampoon's "Vacation"(Christmas Vacation, 1989) just does NOT have that funny, original, and stupid '80s humor that the other 3 are filled with. Although it is funny when Ellen falls for Wain Newton, and when Clark goes to Hoover Dam with the rest of the family, AND when Rusty (their son) wins 4 cars,- it just can't beat those hilariously laugh-making 'Vacation' films that appeared in theatres about.. what?- 15 YEARS AGO?! I mean, if you are going to make a 4th one, make it a little better,...'cause people need it to be pretty darn good if you make a 4th 'Vacation'. Starring: Chevy Chase (as usual), Beverly D'Angelo, and Randy Quaid. I give it a B. Check out my other reviews for: 'National Lampoon's Vacation', 'The Family Man', 'Romy and Michelle's Highschool Reunion', 'CON AIR', 'Finding Forrester', 'SCREAM 3', and many many more!

Summary: It's not the original, but it's still damn good
Review: INTRODUCTION:
Vegas Vacation was the fourth film in the Vacation series of films. It had been eight years since the release of the most recent entry in the series, Christmas Vacation. Would the series still be able to impress people, or was it officially doomed? Read on for my review.

BASIC PLOT:
The storyline of the film goes something like this. Clark and Ellen Griswald (once again played by Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo) realize that their children aren't going to be children much longer, and that they should take another vacation to enjoy the remaining time they have together. Their destination? Las Vegas. Once there, Rusty gets a fake ID and wins some cars, Audrey takes up exotic dancing, and Ellen is befriended by Wayne Newton. And what would a Vacation movie be without cousin Eddie? (Randy Quaid reprises that role.) Clark, on the other hand, meets his rival - a blackjack dealer (played by Wallace Shawn), and quickly gambles away thousands of dollars. How will their vacation turn out?

FILM OPINIONS:
This film is not nearly as good as its predecessor, but it's a good film nonetheless. If you like the series, this is worth checking out, but it's not essential. If you're new to the Vacation series, start with the first film - it's the true masterpiece of the bunch.

DVD:
The DVD is severely lacking as far as extras go - this seems to be typical of the Vacation series movie DVDs. We get commentary and trailers, and that's about it. There's really not much other than these things, things that every DVD should have. Still, the actual film is good, and it makes up for this.

OVERALL:
Overall this film doesn't top its predecessor, but it's still damn funny. If you want to laugh, pick it up. You'll be glad you did.

Summary: You Can Watch This Movie Over and Over...
Review: Vegas Vacation is probably one of my favorite "Vacation's" there is. This movie takes you on a fun adventure to fabulous Las Vegas for a vacation for the Griswald's. I have never gotten bored with this movie and I can watch it over and over and over.

At first, Audrey and Russ are reluctant to going because "the people are soo fony", but soon they are having the time of their lives. Fuss gets a fake ID and wins about 3 cars. Audrey hangs out with her cousin Vicki (who is a dancer) and Audrey basically changes her whole wardrobe and style.

Ellen falls in love and gets seduced by Wayne Newton. And "Sparky" (Chevy Chase) well... let's just say he's having some trouble at the tables. The entire family have a visit with Ellen's cousins and a family trip to the Hoover Dam.

This is one of Chevy's best! You'll love it!

Summary: The best Chevy Chase "Vacation" movie yet!
Review: Not only does this movie show quite a bit about our town, Las Vegas, but it's hilarious. We especially liked Randy Quaid and he just doesn't stop--every time he comes on the scene, it's a laughfest indeed. The story line is obvious: the Griswold family travels to fabulous Las Vegas. And while Clark (Chevy Chase) loses all his money, teenage Griswold Junior, equipped with a fake ID, takes Las Vegas by storm, winning cash and cars everywhere. Ellen Griswold (Beverly D'Angelo) becomes a "Wayniac"--the nickname for Wayne Newton fans. Even the Hoover Dam tour and the Siegfried & Roy show turn into a wild adventure full of laughs. One thing is certain: you're going to crack up, and it's sure going to wet your appetite to visit fabulous Las Vegas in the near future.

Summary: I wish I could dump barrels of fish guts on Papa Gorgio!
Review: I hate people out of jealousy who hit a jackpot at a slot machine after only their first fews spins when yet they never even played slots before.

Papa Gorgio (Russ Griswold) is this movie wins at least 2 major jackpots at 2 different slot machines on the very first spin! (I mean crap man, now there's a guy that I REALLY hate out of jealousy!)

I am so jealous of those lucky [lady] and SOBs that do it on their very first few spins because I've played those damn machines every month for over a year and a half. I've done over 70,000 unsuccessful spins and have lost quite a bit of money over these many months at those damn machines.. I've still never hit a jackpot.

I really wish I could buy one of those damn slot machines from a US casino like say 'Wild Cherry' or the 'Red, White, and Blue' machine and smash it to pieces with my slegehammer the same way I smashed that 'Slots with Video Poker' VHS. That's how much I hate slot machines and those damn, lucky jackpot winners who do it on their first few spins!!
That jackpot that that occasional lucky male or female (...) wins on their VERY FIRST VISIT in that casino in under 100 spins just devistaes me!!! That jackpot should be mine!

Where the hell's MY jackpot?!?!?!?
I'm WAY OVERDUE for a jackpot!
