Summary: Horrible and Horrible-er
Review: Terrible, terrible movie. A complete waste of eighty-eight minutes of my life; I want those minutes back! I rented this movie even though everyone told me it stunk and that I'd be wasting my money. But I thought, "It's about Harry and Lloyd. Honestly, how bad can it be?" So I rented this movie with an open mind. I knew it could never be as good as the first one, but that it would at least make an effort.

I came home, popped in the DVD, and the Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels look-alikes came up, breaking the fourth wall. I thought that was cute. Then the menu came up. I pushed the button that said "Don't push this button!" on the menu, against my better judgement, and the look-alikes walked up to the screen and, get this, BURPED. Right in my face! I guess I deserved that for pushing the button. So I was starting to regret renting this movie (and pushing that darn button; it scared me out of my wits!) and, reminding myself that it couldn't be so bad no matter what, I pressed play.

The look-alikes cartwheeled into the screen (for a moment, I was afraid they'd burp again) and then the movie began. I could go into the plot, but I have faint memories of it. I know the principal and the lunch-lady started a "Special Needs" class to steal $100,000 dollars. Then Harry and Lloyd gathered other "special" students and the lunch-lady became the teacher. That's all I know; it was so terrible that my brain had shut down completely to spare my sanity. The most unimportant scenes dragged on too long (especially that "you're it" scene; it lasted forever!); the ones that showed promise were too short (ie, Bob Saget scenes). It lacked everything that made the original great; that one was stupid, yes, but in such a way that it was sheer genius. This one was just stupid. I know the actors tried to be funny (and Christian Olsen looked a lot like Jim Carrey, and his "I like it a LOT" line was right on target), but the script was unoriginal, shallow, uninspired, and I could go on and on about how bad it was.

I kept wanting the movie to end. It was THAT bad. But I was determined to hang on until the end, no matter what! It was an extremely difficult task, let me tell you. It was an uphill battle against complete and utter boredom and the overwhelming desire to grab the remote and turn off the TV. In fact, I actually rejoiced when the ending credits rolled. Only two scenes in the entire movie made me laugh, and they were the ones with Bob Saget. Really, I laughed so hard I thought I'd fall off the couch. "THERE'S POO ALL OVER MY HOOD!" Bob Saget brought some much-needed laughs into an otherwise completely unfunny film. So, the movie ended, and I was still laughing. But only because of Bob Saget. The rest... bleh. Though Lloyd's little fantasy was kind of funny, too, KIND OF.

I tried to keep an open mind; I tried to love the movie, no, I tried to at least LIKE IT, but it was impossible. It was just just that: dumb and dumberer. Don't rent it; save yourself the agony, and do something else with those eighty-eight minutes of your life, like watch mold grow or get a root canal (I guarantee you'll be far more entertained and you won't feel cheated out of those precious minutes of your life). If you're going to rent it, then do it for Bob Saget; he was simply hilarious and I laughed myself to tears by his performance.

Since Amazon doesn't have a zero stars option, then I give it one star. Don't buy it; don't even rent it; you'll regret it! Except for Bob Saget. Hilarious! HAHAH!

Review: Oh my god. I thought this was one of the funniest dern movies I've ever seen! {There's also a song by They Might Be Giants in this movie}!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Barely watchable, but a few funny parts
Review: First, lets go over the few good aspects of the movie. Bob Saget makes a special guest appearance, and like his two line role in Half Baked, he does his character to perfection. In addition, Eric Christian Olsen plays Jim Carey's character to perfection, even the complete haters of the movie has to admit that.

The story line of the movie was very bad, not that the story line of the first movie was good, but not as bad as this. Especially since they had Eugene Levy and Cheri Oteri to work w/as the villains, it still falls on its face. Luis Guzman as Harry's father was also a brilliant hire by the casting crew, but again, his character is under utilized in the movie, similar to Eugene Levy and Cheri Oteri characters.

The movie also sticks w/several themes from the first movie, which were very disappointing (passing up hot chicks again, Harry doing something extremely stupid to get Lloyd to stop being mad at him, etc.) Not that the movie was supposed to be original by any means, but using the same exact themes/jokes from the first movie was just a downer.

In the end, it is nowhere near the first Dumb and Dumber, but do not blame the cast, because the talent was honestly there (surprisingly, who signs up for this kind of movie, and if you did fire your agent right away). The director, and the person who wrote the story completely screwed up what they had to work w/. All the ingredients were there to bake a cake, and when it was pulled out of the oven, it was crap.

Grade: C-
