Rating: Summary: Put SALT on my WOUNDS whydontcha Review: When thinking of my most hated movies list, "Little Nicky" without a doubt, most certainly, without hesitation comes to mind. Adam Sandler is not a great actor, he has a very targeted audience, and his movies are often silly. But something about him has attracted me to his movies and his type of humor. And despite my friends' and family's protests, I have always defended Adam Sandler and his popularity. I loved "Billy Madison" and "The Wedding Singer." "Happy Gilmore" was okay. Even "Airheads" (although not technically a "Sandler" picture) was okay. But "Little Nicky" is beyond forgiveness. The story is silly, the premise is silly...that's usually okay if the story has a streamlined plot that makes sense within the realm of the narrative. However this fails to even do this. Throughout the hour and a half or so film, my blood was boiling - nothing made sense, it's like the makers just [paid no attention] to continuity and sanity. And to top it off, the jokes were Not EVEN FUNNY. And by the way, Harvey Keitel is... played the Devil in this loathesome picture. How much money does it take to coerce the man who portrayed one of the most multi-layered characters in history (in "Bad Lieutenant") to be involved with "Little Nicky?"... ..... it still hurts. please make the pain go away.
Rating: Summary: Little Nicky is The bomb Review: This is an overall good film one of Adam Sandlers best and most comical since bulletproof. This is a cool movie because Adam Sandler's style of charactor. It changes from the loud mouth underachiver(dig daddy, bily madison, happy gilmore), to a quiet little southern boy(like the waterboy charactor). The cool thing about this is that he still manages to produce all the same laughs from his other films. The co-stars real help adam out in this one and a cool camio from the "wizard" ozzy Osborne. The dvd has great special features like pods school of the hard knocks and a coo satans top 40 metal guide. This flim also has great hard rock songs in it like several tracks from pod, ozzy osborne, powerman 5000, deftones, incubus and filter. When you see this movie you will find your self breth lessly laughing your head off till it hurts.
Rating: Summary: Adult and children viewers Review: This is an awful movie. My daughter had seen the beginning at a friends house and we rented it to finish watching, but my husband and I were unable to watch it and stopped my daughter from watching it. The premise of a humanized Devil with a son who cares for him could be presented and palatable if it was done with respect. As it is the comedy was vulgar, the attitude presented towards people was demeaning, Little Nicky was presented as a caring, feeling son abused by his siblings because he was not evil. I do not recommend this movie for either children or teenagers (at least adults have enough sense to realize when something is not funny). It presents abuse, vulgarity and disrespect as funny attitudes towards life. (...)
Rating: Summary: Godawful! Review: To evaluate a comedy is a lousy activity, for each person has his own notion of what's funny and what's not. Some comedies are stuffed with hilarious moments and make you shriek with laughter (Road Trip, Meet the Parents), some - grin a couple of times and fast forward (Big Momma's house, the Nutty Professor, Scary Movie etc), and just a few make you howl with desperation: WHAT WERE THESE ACTORS (DIRECTOR, SCRIPT WRITER) THINKING CREATING SUCH TRASH? Little Nicky is awful, the only grin you get is a permanent one plastered all over your face in disbelief you're still watching this tasteless dumb spectacle, nourisihing hope that maybe NOW something funny will come up. The jokes and gags are not even "below the waist" level, and only a very twisted mind of someone completely devoid of any sense of humor can call ridiculous grimaces, snorts and jumps entertaining. Stay away from this drivel!
Rating: Summary: A film demeaned with cheap nudity Review: When Goldie Hawn recommended Adam Snadler for a small role in First Wives Club, she publicly stated that Snadler deserved the opportunity to redeem herself after starring in the ridiculous Showgirls. That says it all: this sleazy, stupid movie, which mixes soft pornography with the clichés of backstage dramas, is the kind of project an aspiring actress would have to put well behind her to keep a career going (though costar Gina Gershon (Bash Street Kids, The Movie) certainly benefited from her, uh, exposure in the film.). Snadler plays a drifter who hitches a ride to Las Vegas, becomes a lap dancer and then a performer, and discovers--gasp!--there's a whole world of sex and violence involved with these things. Gershon is probably the best element in the film, playing Berkley's bisexual rival for the big spotlight on stage. Joe Eszterhas was well overpaid for writing this howler, and director Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct) should have known better than to take it seriously
Rating: Summary: A meal for one Review: Who? What? Where? and Why? These questions are made to seem rather silly during this insane laughter riot. Brill is on obscenely average form behind the lens and veteran clown Aslan Sanders shows he's no mug even afer 5 years pandering to the greasepaint. Ingenious sight gags are promised but I saw no sign of the promised sight gags. Particularly puzzling is the decision not to set the whole story in the desert. At times I thought I had gone to the wrong film but soon realised I hadn't. The ending is poor, the worst since the last one. Good effort.
Rating: Summary: I'm sorry, but Little Nicky rocks! Review: Little Nicky is definetly Adam Sandler's best movie since Happy Gilmore. It has everything a true fan could want. It is chockful of jokes and never lets up for one moment. "Little Nicky" has a very quirky sense of humor, which you have to be in a certain mood for in order to enjoy. One of those movies where if you are in the right state of mind, everything in the movie is hilarious. I think that is the main reason why a lot of people didn't like this movie, either they weren't in the mood or they were expecting one thing and got something totally different. But "Little Nicky" is dumb-fun that you just cannot deny. It also features great music and great actors such as: Adam Sandler, Harvey Keitel, Patricia Arquette and cameos by Rodney Dangerfield, Dana Carvey, John Lovitz and Ozzy Osbourne!
Rating: Summary: Not as good as his others, but still good. Review: I rented this and will buy it soon. People bash this movie and I can't see why. I'm a fan of Sandler's, so maybe I'm immune to hating him. This movie is mindless humor, meaning if you want it to have real purpose, you'll be dissapointed. True it's not his best, but it is worth a few laughs all the same. If you want his best, get "Happy Gilmore". Adam isn't for everyone and his comedy isn't conventional, which is why I like him. It has cameos from almost everyone that was in his previous movies and a few celebrities that just dropped in like, Ozzy Osbourne. Over all not bad, but not his best either. I'm just saying it's enjoyable if you like Adam's style.
Rating: Summary: It's Adam Sandler, what do you expect? Review: Obviously, Sandler rewards his fans and doesn't care about his critics. So, if you aren't too enthusiastic about his previous films, don't bother. I thought the movie was very funny, but it is best enjoyed when you watch it once every now and then. It definitely wasn't as funny the second time around because all of the unexpected gags became expected. I still enjoyed it, but be warned that viewings must be spaced out over time. The cast is the usual gang plus a few surprises. I'm a little disappointed that Steve Buscemi didn't make a cameo, but they still have a great bunch of actors and actresses. The story is slightly better than average, but it plays well with the various characters. My only major problem with the movie is the Heaven scenes (Did they HAVE to make the angels so annoying?), but those are quickly forgiven by the climax of the movie. As for the DVD, there are plenty of extra things to delight fans of the movie. The documentaries are interesting, and the deleted scenes range from abysmal (no wonder they deleted it) to hysterical. As for the commentaries, you have a choice between the funny one that provides useful or entertaining knowledge (The one with Adam Sandler, Tim Herlihy, and Steven Brill) or the Cast commentary, which is basically all of the actors saying the same thing over and over again - "I enjoyed making this movie." So, it's a good movie with a few faults, but a worthy addition to any Sandler fan's collection.
Rating: Summary: It's a waste of time Review: I also listened to a friend and went out to rent it. I found this movie so cheap and dumb. After awhile, I started to get irrirated at Sandler's character and the way he talks. This is the kind of low budget made-for-video movies. I'm so glad I didn't see it in the theater. It's a lot like "The Water Boy", and that one was just as stupid. I couldn't get myself laughing one bit. If you happened to buy the DVD, I bet you'll never look at it a second time. Personally, I never care for Adam Sandler.
