Summary: Mr Deeds (Adam Sandler) - Widescreen Version
Review: Sandler does it again. Sandler and Ryder do not have quite the chemistry that was going one between Barymore and him in the Wedding Singer. It does not have the slapstick feel of the waterboy either. It is a very good light hearted story of a small town every man kind of guy who inherits huge [money]... and is not willing to conform to the role. Niether is he willing to allow the sophisticated staff who is after his fortune to intimidate him. In the end, the nice guy wins. Happy Madison productions - keep up the good work. Hollywood has slipped so far that you are one of the only consistant bets.

Review: While I have really enjoyed Sandler in some of his other films and I think he can be very funny, this movie just didn't give him the material he needed to do what it is he does best. My 16 year old told me before I watched this film that it had a "message" and didn't have same amount of comedy he was used to watching. He then proceeded to watch "Billy Madison" for the umpteenth time mouthing most of the jokes as they happened. This isn't going to happen with Mr. Deeds, nor will it be a classic one to watch over and over.While I felt the movie had some entertainment value, it is definitely one to rent and not one to watch again and again.

Review: This movie is absolutely fantastic!!!!!! I don't think there are proper words to explain it. Adam Sandler has achieved perfection when acting in this film. The movie is really funny!! As always Adam has really showed his creative ability, and i am sure he is going to go from strength to strength. I wish him the best of luck.

Summary: Reverse Alchemy
Review: As I'm an Adam Sandler fan, and a huge fan of the 1936 Capra original with Gary Cooper, I expected to at least like this movie, even though Capra in his prime is a tough act to follow. I really liked Sandler when he was on Saturday Night Live, in "Happy Gilmore" and "The Wedding Singer," so I was prepared not to approach this movie as I warily did the horrible remake of "Oceans 11." That said, I wasn't prepared for such an insult to my intelligence. Sandler and writer Tim Herlihy (who's done good work on "Billy Madison" and "The Water Boy") really dumbed-down the movie until it was barely recognizable from the original. Yet, the movie doesn't even stand on its own merits: Mostly, it's a hodge-podge and a mishmash of poorly-timed goofs and stale slapstick stunts, so even though it tries to ape the "screwball" comedies of the 1930s, the director and crew haven't a clue that you've got to be really sharp tacks to pull off dead-on silly humour, e.g., "Bringing Up Baby" and "The Philadelphia Story." Also, as Capra really captured the zeitgeist of 1930s Depression-era America with Cooper's simply eloquent speech, this doesn't translate well to the bread-and-circuses new millenium.
Updating is one thing -- John Landis' "Trading Places" (1983) and Walter Hill's "Brewster's Millions" (1985) were excellent movies in recapturing the feel for the "rags to riches" genre -- but Sandler's speech is such a mishmash of bathetic baby-talk and disingenuous sentimentalism that it makes the perky and sappy Katie Couric sound like NPR's erudite and sober Mara Liasson by comparison. Wynona Ryder is comely and does what she can with her material, as does Steve Buscemi. Unfortunately, though, Buscemi's performance is entirely gratuitous, and Ryder comes off as too girlish to be the tough-but-tender newspaperwoman Jean Arthur was in the original. With this bad remake, the horribly inept producers used reverse alchemy to turn Frank Capra's silk purse into a sow's ear.

Review: This movie is so funny. Longfellow Deed (Adam Sandler) wins 40 billion dollars off his great uncle. So he goes to NYC to inherit the money. But when he is there bad things start to happen in the news. But really he does good things. But at the end of the movie they find out that longfellow deeds shouldn't have inherited the money. But i can't tell you whom? So if you want to find out you have to see the movie. And believe me you will be laughing so much because this movie is so funny and I mean funny.

Summary: Great for fans!
Review: Let me start off by saying that you will enjoy this movie fully if you like Adam Sandler, and i am obsessed with him, so I obviously loved it. Anyways, i think this movie shows a different side to Sandler. A nicer more respectful side, and it's refreshing. This was definitely not a miss. I wouldnt recommend it for little kids, but teens and adults would probably enjoy it.

Review: mr. Deeds is simply a comdey. My personal opinion about this movie was i loved it. Longfellow deeds is not one of those average billionares. He is more of a "down to earth" kind of guy. Even with all of this money he gets it doesn't matter to him. He dosen't even want the money, he wants to give it to charity. when he finds out that he has inherited billions of dollars he just goes on with his everyday life until he has to go to the city to sign papers that indicated that the money is his. The ending in my view couldn't get any better and of course they threw in alove story to go along with it. I have never seen the original version so I can't make any judgements but, the original version would of have to be a heck of a good movie to pass this one out.

Summary: The worst of Sandler's films
Review: Mr. Deeds is another mindless Adam Sandler film. That's not always a bad thing, as I have no problems enjoying some of his antics, but his role here is an uninspired, mostly laughless retread of many lame comedies. A remake of the James Cagney film Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, this movie follows the rags to riches tale of Mr. Deeds who inherits his uncles company and fortune. A reporter (Winona Ryder) fakes interest in Deeds to humiliate him for a sleazy news show, but soon finds herself truly in love with the simple man. How many times has that story been told? The stale tale would be easier to swallow if there was some good humor to chase it down, but the jokes here are lame even for Sandler's standards. To be fair, I did chuckle a few times, but most of his jokes get old the fifth time around. However, Sandler does carry a certain boy-like innocence with him that is intriguing and is really this film's only saving grace (and if recent acclaim from his latest film, Punch Drunk Love, has any merit, that may now be proof of his talent). John Turturro is also entertaining as Deeds' butler, but the rest of the cast including Ryder is just doing this film by the numbers. Unless your a big Sandler fan, skip this movie and stick to his earlier inane comedy, back when it was still somewhat fresh and entertaining.

Review: This movie was such a letdown. I figured since Adam Sandler was in it, it would be pretty funny. Now, there were some funny parts but the movie itself was awful. I'm not sure what was missing.. a plot maybe but the movie was terrible. If you want to see it, rent it.. don't buy it. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

Review: I love Adam Sandler movies, so naturally I had to see Mr.Deeds. Adam Sandler plays Longfellow Deeds, a small town pizza place owner who inherits 40 billion dollars from his great uncle who dies climbing Mt. Everest! The movie is hilarious from the time Sandler enters through the end. Winona Ryder (Is it me or does she seem to get younger and even more beautiful?) plays a TV news anchor who, at first, is only interested in the story that Deeds is worth. She eventually falls for him and you all know how things go from there. Anyway, this movie is definitely a must see for all Adam Sandler fans or for lovers of heartwarming, gut-busting comedies.
