Summary: A sequel so bad, hardly anyone from the first film is in it
Review: I wanted to see this movie for two reasons. The first is that my daughter and I both really enjoyed the first film, with Brendan Fraser as George and Leslie Mann as Ursula. The fact that neither of these actors reprised their roles didn't bother me, especially since the second reason I wanted to see this film was because this time, one of my all-time favorite actresses, Julie Benz, would be playing Ursula. I was disappointed on both counts.First off, this film is really, really bad. Okay, I expected it to not match up to the first film, since few sequels do, and rarely does a movie that skips the theater and goes straight to video have much going for it. But this one took the prize. The jokes are contrived and overworked - in the first 20 minutes of the film, the same three jokes were recycled several times, and they stopped being funny after the first time they were told. And then there's Christopher Showerman's performance as the "new George". The film does have a few moments of fun with the Brendan Fraser lookalike's appearance in this film (including a jab that the studio was to cheap to hire the now-superstar Fraser for the sequel), and newcomer Showerman shows signs of being a fine actor in his own right. But he works way to hard trying to be Brendan Fraser, and the simple fact is, he isn't - no one is. Fraser brought a certain magic to the role the Showerman never manages to capture, no matter how much he may look or act like his predecessor. He'd have probably been easier to stomach had he tried to develop his own version of the character, the way Fraser managed to take the original cartoon character and make the part his own. The other disappointment was Julie Benz. In interviews, Benz had said the reason she wanted to do this movie is because she wanted to do comedy. Benz is best known for playing the highly devious vampire Darla on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel", a role which most might think of as being highly dramatic. But there have been many moments where Benz got to show her comedic talents in that role; she has proven time and again in that role that she is an extremely talented actress with a remarkable sense of comedic timing and delivery. So I can only scratch my head as to what she was thinking when she agreed to play Ursula. This isn't a "funny" character, not even when Leslie Mann played her in the first film. Ursula is more the straight man; the funny stuff mostly went to George, or to Lyle (Thomas Haden Church, reprising from the first film) or an ape named Ape (voiced by Monty Python's John Cleese, also reprising from the first film). Benz spends most of this film just mooning over George or huffing over his antics, and wasting her ample acting talents as a result. Hopefully she will get the chance to prove she can do comedy, and this film (coupled with her work in sci-fi and horror films/shows) won't interfere with that opportunity. Sad to say, I can't even recommend this movie to fans of any of the actors. Mostly, I spent the whole film simply embarrassed for Julie Benz, as well as for John Cleese, Thomas Haden Church, and for Christina Pickles, who takes over in the role of Beatrice, Ursula's mother (played by Holland Taylor in the first film). In the end, I recommend you spend your money on something worthy, like perhaps the superior original George of the Jungle film.

Summary: Disappointing Sequel
Review: I'm not one to go into a movie that's meant to be silly, expecting shakespere. But like a lot of comedy sequels, the jokes were too set up and too planned instead of coming from the situatution. Angus T. Jones was sweet as Junior and didn't get enough screentime, Julie Benz is a wonderful actress but suffers in this role, Chris Showerman would have made a fine 'new' George with a better script, as would Thomas Haden Church returning as Lyle. But everyone suffers do to a bad and very unfunny story that attempts to manipulate you into laughing. But beyond the line about the reason for a new 'George', I barely laughed at all. And I certainly didn't believe in George and Ursula's love despite the extremely idiot situations (though I did in the first film). There's silly so funny you watch it over and over again (first George of the Jungle film) and silly so stupid you never want to see it again (the sequel). Even the kids, who loved the first film, didn't laugh much watching this one. And they kept wondering why the all important Junior was conviently dropped from the middle of the story only to magically jump in again at the end. This movie was one of the worse Disney sequels ever made.

Review: My husband and I just love the first movie, you can`t resist Brendan Frazer`s silly but charming playing without Brendan I expected a worse movie. but not this bad.... After a couple of scenes my husband leave the room, I just remain out of curiosity, how bad it could get? but it could... so don`t even bother , if you so curious about it just rent it and save money....

Summary: Younger Kids Will Love It
Review: My three year old got this for Christmas and loves it. Don't expect a cinematic masterpiece. It's kind of corny but it's a cute movie. Lots of talking animals, colorful scenery, action, one liners that 3yr olds will like to repeat... "Eat fur jungle boy". I agree with an earlier reviewer that Jr. doesn't get enough screen time. It took me a little while to get used to the new George, but I think he's just as good as the first one, and equally as hubba hubba.

Summary: GEORGE IS HOT!
Review: Ok, so the basic movie really is dificult to sit through, unless you don't mind looking at Christopher Showerman and his incredible body. Chris trained months and months to perfect his body and how beautiful it is! Imagine this George swinging into your living room or finding a guy like this living in the jungle. Would you ever want to leave?! It's Disney, it's light and silly entertainment but serious for fans of Christopher Showerman and fans of body building. Thanks Chris for giving us motivation in the gym!

Summary: A Comedy Without the F word
Review: The first George of the Jungle was so silly, it was kind of cute and at times funny, helped by Brendan Frazer, this sequel, minus Frazer,is so silly it is actually unwatchable.
Any comedy whether silly or not should have an absolute minimum, to be funny, and George of the Jungle 2 is actually every word you can think of but the F word.
After 15 minutes of listening to the very annoying narrative talking about the old movie, the new movie, Disney etc...you want to give up watching movies altogether and watch CNN!!(this is how bad it is)
Even the delightfully charming and pretty Julie Benz could not save an awful direction and script.
If you like silly comedies,and want the F back in films then the market is full of well made and very funny examples, like Top Secret,Naked Gun, and the classic Carry On Up the Jungle (an all time favorite of mine), but trust me this film should be avoided at all costs!

Summary: Oh Ah Ee Ee, Tookie-Tookie!
Review: What a hilarious film! The sexual innuendos are so over-the-top and fun that you hardly think you are watching a Disney movie. Ursula: "Honey, I wouldn't worry about Junior swinging...he's the son of the greatest swinger of all time. How could he not learn how to swing?" All the actors are in great form (especially George's!). The uberfabulous Julie Benz ("Darla" from ANGEL) appears as Ursula, George's wife (lucky broad) and Christina Pickles ("Sorceress" from Masters of the Universe:The Movie) plays her evil mom! Christopher Showerman makes his debut as George, taking over for Brendan Fraser, as he explains. The Amazon review is correct, the camera does oogle his body but you'll get no complaints.

Review: Yes, it is a stupid movie but let's not forget that this was meant to be a stupid one. In that key it's pretty well done. Sure, don't watch it if you're in the mood for something deep and serious but if you just wish to spend some hour and half with no thinking or even laughing at sometimes, well, in this case it's OK. Most of kids love it indeed, as it was also for the previous part. And personally I liked half-naked Christopher Showerman as new George! :-)
