Rating: Summary: Happy Gilmore...A Hole in One!! Review: The DVD is released in fullscreen instead of widescreen, otherwise this is one of Adam Sandler's best movies. Critics panned this movie, but the movie going public didn't care. This movie is great fun even for people who hate golf. With most of Adam Sandler's movies, always missed by the critics, there is always the underlying theme of "being there" to support one's family. In this case, his concern is for his grandmother about to lose her home to the IRS. Happy is an aspiring pro hockey player with a killer slap shot. The gift is accidentally used on some old golf clubs, discovered by a former pro-golfer turned instructor Chubbs Peterson (Carl Weathers) and Happy then finds himself on a professional golf tour to earn money to get the house back. There are a lot of hilarious scenes too many to name, mostly while playing golf. Great supporting cast with Julie Bowen (pre NBC TV's ED),Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, Carl Weathers, Ben Stiller, Bob (The Price is Right) Barker, Lee Trevino and great direction from co-star Dennis Dugan. Note: Classic Lines - "If I dressed like that (referring to golfers) I'd have to kick my own [rear]!" and "He spends more time on the 'sand' than David Hasselhoff!"
Rating: Summary: Adam Sandler does it again! Review: Adam Sandler does it again with "Happy Gimore." By far his best movie, Adam plays a wanna be hockey player with a short-fuse. He gets in many fights in this movie, one with Bob Barker I might add.The story starts out with the audience finding out that he has tried out for this Minnesota hockey team too many times and has never been accepted. He has had enough of this happening to him so he tries to stab someone with his skate. He leaves the ice and later on a used to be golfer with a wooden hand noticed his ability and soon enough he is on the PGA tour. The only catch is, he doesn't want to be someone that wears tight clothing and volleyball hats while playing golf....he wants fans cheering, beach-balls being hit, and fans calling his name. A rival golfer hates this and tries to get rid of him and that is where the story takes off. Sandler plays a great role and is very funny of course. Now, I don't know about you, but if you say you like comedy but haven't seen this one yet, you are definitely not a comedy fan. Happy Gilmore has no faults and is laughter the whole way through. So if you feel like watching a movie with your buddies that you know you are gonna die laughing at, I would suggest buying this movie because you WILL watch it again and again. Thanks for reading my review and be sure to get this movie!!
Rating: Summary: Best Sandler movie to date Review: This is Adam Sandler at his absolute best, and easily his best comedy to date. If you like Sandler's brand of comedy, then this movie is a must for your collection. It;s the kind of movie you can watch 25 times and still laugh just as hard as the first time.
Rating: Summary: The only guy to take off his skate and try to stab someone! Review: This movie has got to be one of Adam Sandler's best. Notice how he always plays people with somewhat short fuses, though some not as violent as Happy Gilmore. But that's what makes this so funny. With an opening sequence in which he tries out for a hockey team for the tenth time and isn't accepted, and ends up beating up the coach, you know where this thing is headed. This movie is more than just a regular guy with an awesome shot due to hockey and an awful temper. But the movie is at it's best when Happy gets into a fight with 'The Price is Right' host Bob Barker and Bob wins! Anyone who hasn't seen this scene can't call themself an Adam Sandler fan! The basic story of this is pretty simple, it's about a guy who thinks he was born to play hockey, but still hasn't made a team. Then he meets a guy with a wooden hand who used to be a golf player, who tells him he should start. So he does, and he's got an awesome drive, but his putting stinks. And he has an arch enemy, a total a**hole named Shooter McGavin, who makes a total fool of himself many times but still thinks himself a pretty cool guy. This movie has got some pretty funny jokes and they're actually funny ( although somewhat juvenile, but what do you expect with Adam Sandler), and you can't help but love the hapless Happy. Overall you'll be pretty happy with a movie like 'Happy Gilmore'
Rating: Summary: One of the Sand Man's best! Review: 5 stars for Happy Gilmore. Happy was one of the best roles and movies for Adam Sandler. Who would've thought that anyone would be able to turn Golf into a contact sport? That and at the same time, Happy was still a good date movie because of the love story in the movie, that might I add didn't overshadow the comedy value like it did in "Big Daddy". Happy Gilmore keeps you laughing the entire way through, from start to finish. It starts out as Sandler plays a struggling hockey player who turns from skates and a puck to a 9 Iron and a T. Along the way, he fights his obsession of being a great hockey player to being a great golfer and winning his grandmother's house back from the IRS. You really can't get tired of this Sandler movie. It's not as goofball funny as "Billy Madison", yet it does have some goofball moments. It has a lot more genuine funny scenes and lines in it that will give you sore ribs the next day (especially the Pro-Am Tournament part where Sandler and "The Price is Right" host Bob Barker get into one of the most heated comedic bouts in history). Seriously, get Happy Gimore!
Rating: Summary: Hilarious !! Review: This movie is exceedingly funny, and Adam Sandler seems to have done full justice to his role in the film. Dennis Dugan has used his skill very well here, as being able to incorporate the humor part in the game of golf is just remarkable. It's about Happy Gilmore ( Adam Sandler ) using his hockey skills to become an expert in golf ( after failing yet again to make it into the hockey team). With his amazing techniques, he manages to show the golf pros the way gold is played at it's best ... I still burst out laughing when I remember some of the scenes from this movie. To add some flavor to the movie, we have Happy's grand mom, his girlfriend Virginia & of course Shooter McGavin his main competitor on the golf course ! The movie is great for everyone to watch, it'll surely pep you up !! I would recommend all to watch.
Rating: Summary: Mindless and very entertaining fun! Review: Adam Sandler is one of the best comedians of the 1990s and it is easy to see why in this totally hillarious entertaining movie. Sandler plays Happy Gilmore, a hockey player at heart who unfortunately can't skate to save his life. Happy then decides to try professional golf because he has an awesome golf swing and also because his poor old grandmother has to move to an old folks home because she owes the IRS $275,000. What follows next is absolutely funny. Happy enters golf tournaments and due to his explosive temper it is truely side splittingly hilarious to see him explode on the golf course. Happy's main rival is Shooter McGavin a truely egotistical, caniving person who tries to get Happy kicked off the tour. The beautiful Julie Bowen portrays Sandler's girlfriend in the movie, and Carl Weathers is Happy's mentor Chubbs Peterson. Ben Stiller has an untitled role in the movie, playing a mean orderly at the old folks home. One of the best scenes in the movie is when Happy gets in a fight with Bob Barker. Whoever wrote this scene is a comedy genious and it makes the movie better. This movie is highly recommended to all fans of Adam Sandler and great comedy in general.
Rating: Summary: Sandler's Best Review: Happy Gilmore is one of Adam Sandler's funniest movies. This classic will keep you laughing the entire time. Whether its at Happy's misbehavior, his inability to putt, or the antics of everyone around him, you will stay laughing throughout!! MUST HAVE!!!
Rating: Summary: Funny Gilmore Review: This movie was hillarious. It is one of my favorite movies. Adam Sandler is such a good actor!!!
Rating: Summary: Great film, but why isn't there a widescreen edition? Review: This is one of the funniest films I've seen. I first saw this film as a kid, didn't really understood most of the jokes, I just laughed because whenever happy would through the club and hit someone. This is the early golden days of the work of Adam Sandler. This film and Billy Madison pretty much mad Adam Sandler. I'm pretty sure he would agree. Because I hate the show Saturday night live. Really if you haven't seen this film, you don't know comedy. So I'm not gonna waste my time writing about what the movie is about. It is about golf, that's pretty much what you should. As I watch this film on TV I noticed they restored deleted scenes. Why aren't they in this DVD? I mean I don't get it. Why isn't there a special edition version? That's what I hate. So don't waste your time buying this when they repeatably show this movie on
