Summary: 2 HOURS OF LAUGHTER
Review: This is one of the funniest comedies of the summer.I laughed for the entire movie. Unless you were born without a personality you will love this movie. The great cast includes Cuba gooding jr., whoopie goldberg, john cleese, rowan atkinson (Mr. Bean), seth green, dave thomas, wayne knight, vince vileuf, and a cameo by the band smashmouth. the ending was a little bit diffferent, but it was still good. go see this movie!!!!On a side note, everybody that i know that has seen this movie also loved it, even my grandfather!!!

Summary: Definitely go see it!!
Review: This is the first PURE comedy out in a really long time. It isn't predictable in my opinion and it was the first movie I have walked out of and be still laughing. Basically all of these people are in Las Vegas and they all win this coin. They find out that they are on a race to win a ton of money. There are a ton of funny moments that happen because of someone's innocence or stupidity. I don't wanna give away the ending but GO SEE IT!

Summary: Ok
Review: This movie was kind of funny at times, but some of it was pretty dumb(or disgusting). The movie had a good plot, much to my suprise. There are 8 people trying to reach 2,000,000 dollars. It was a pretty good movie most of the time.

Summary: more annoying than funny
Review: This movie was more annoying than funny. It lacked good wit, had no redeeming qualities, and to top it off, had a crappy ending. The movie tried too hard to be funny, and ended up aggravating me more than making me laugh.

All of the characters turned out to be rather annoying. Everyone bungled their way through every situation and managed to screw themselves over at every turn. The mr. bean guy and the newman guy from seinfeld brought new meaning to stupidity (and in an aggravating way). The addicted gambler and his family were altogether unpleasant people, being quite whiny and snot-nosed. Whoopi goldberg and her sidekick were much too frantic, and the two surfer dudes lacked any redeeming qualities to make them even remotely likeable. The only interesting character was the black-haired guy who didn't even want to gamble in the first place, but then his chic sidekick just went over the top.

The majority of my family enjoyed the film, but i found myself disgusted too often at how stupid the characters reacted to their situations. Their annoying personalities prevented me from becoming connected with any of them. The premise sounded good to me when i first heard it, but this movie was done rather badly. The really bad ending sunk it for me.

In short, if you like witty humor, skip this film. If you like people making fools of themselves, you might enjoy it.

Summary: Very funny movie
Review: There really isn't a whole lot to say about this movie. I found "Rat Race" to be a genuinely funny movie; this film had me laughing from beginning to end. Even though the characters and plot are a little thin, "Rat Race" is a very fun and entertaining movie.

Summary: Wait For the Video
Review: Sure I laughed out loud at times, but most of the movie I waited for something funny to happen. The idea of a madcap cross country chase is nothing new, and it can be very funny... It's a Mad, Mad World; Cannonball Run; Smokey and the Bandit, etc. While this cast is talented beyond measure, it's too bad the script didn't allow some of them them to use their talents properly.

John Cleese is wasted as the greedy, insane owner of a Las Vegas Casino who creates "a human horse race" from his Casino to Silver City, NM using random slot players from the casino as the "horses." The winner gets the $2 million left in a train depot locker. Likewise, Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) is not allowed to show his considerable talents as a nebishy narcoleptic Italian. And while Cuba Gooding Jr. is very good, I kept wondering why such a talented actor was stuck in this ensemble goofball comedy.

Still, Jon Lovitz is great as the chronic loser who dupes (and dopes) his family into joining the contest. Seth Green and Vince Vicluf are perfect as the idiot slacker brothers who cause most of the trouble. Brecklin Meyer is the ideal straight-laced guy-next-door who hooks up with the sweet (albeit jealous and sometimes violent) girl-next-door Amy Smart during the race. Whoopi Goldberg and Wayne Knight play the same characters they always play. If you liked them before, you'll like them in this.

Small parts and cameos by Dave Thomas (of SCTV, not Wendy's), Kathy Bates, Dean Cain and Paul Rodriguez add to the fun.

Most of the great laughs are seen in the trailer, so no real surprises, except for Lovitz and family's run in with Nazis, but I won't spoil that for you.

Enough original stuff to make the movie worthwhile, but no real reason not to wait for the video.

Summary: a little boring but so-so...
Review: I thought it was going to be funnier than what it was. It was funny in some parts but in most parts you've already seen the jokes and humor in the previews. I would suggest for people to wait until it comes out in rental, rent it and than see what you think about it. To me it's not worth the $5-$10/per person for the jokes when you, moreorless, seen them in the previews for free.

Summary: Wacky and funny; one of the best comedies of 2001!
Review: 'Rat Race' is original and very, very funny, one of the best comedies of the summer! Rowan Atkinson is defintely the highlight, he is so unbelievably funny! He has his own movie (Bean) and his own TV show in England, which is how I found out about this master of comedy! You'll see him in 'Rat Race' and want to go out and watch his show and movie! Atkinson is also a very physical comedian. He doesn't even have to speak to have you rolling around on the floor with laughter. "Rat Race" feautrues an all-star cast featuring Atkinson, John Cleese, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jon Lovitz, Breckin Meyer, Whoopi Goldberg, Seth Green, Amy Smart, Kathy Najimy, and "Seinfeld's" Wayne Knight.

The script is smart, witty, original, *outrageous*, and funny! There are some moments that are so well planned out that they became, for me, some of the funniest comedic sequences ever recorded on film (i.e. the "hitler sequence"). All of the characters in this movie are so different, it's hilarious to see them thrown together!

Summary: from 'Monty Python' to this...
Review: Thank God for John Cleese. While he may not have the best choice in roles, he always manages to salvage whatever travesty he's in (no, i am not implying anything even remotely negative about 'Monty Python') with a brilliantly understated performance. Such is the case with 'Rat Race', which thanks to one of the worst endings i've ever seen in film, is currently neck and neck with 'American Outlaws' for the worst film i've seen this year. The premise reads like a bad reality tv sketch: 6 people each have a key that opens a locker with $2 million in it. they have to race to get it. meanwhile, (and this is where the only good parts of the movie take place) a group of wealthy bettors (organized by Cleese) is betting on who will get there first.
In fact, this would be a perfect DVD movie in one regard. just take all of the scenes involving Cleese from your scene index and leave the rest of the film on your living room floor. That way, you'll be entertained without wasting too much of your time.
Yes, the movie has an all-star cast (most of whom don't even bother to act and just phone in their performances. and could mr. bean get more annoying?). And, yes it's directed by Jerry Zucker ('Airplane!'). But that doesn't automatically make it funny. 'Rat Race' is broad, over-the-top comedy in the truest sense, but it doesn't work, partly because it is too broad and too over the top. the jokes lack the restraint and focus they sorely need to work on any level.
'Rat Race' is a movie that requires a certain suspension of disbelief, and even with that firmly in place, the events aren't even close to plausible. Sure they're possible in that pavement may tomorrow turn to gold sort of dreamland, but not in this reality, and not with our laws of physics or common sense.
The ending is the type of ending you'd expect from someone who's watched too much PBS, not the creator of the 'Naked Gun' series.
Maybe from lesser talents this wouldn't be so bad, but from this cast and crew, 'Rat Race' is a travesty, the worst of the worst in the summer of 2001.
