Summary: Brutal, Absolutely Brutal!!
Review: I rented "Rat Race" based on a recommendation from my boss, who said it was one of the funniest movies he has seen in years. That was my first mistake, as I believe there is more humor on Death Row than there is in an ordinary conversation with my boss. My second mistake was renting any movie that has BOTH Whoopi "Hollywood Square" Goldberg and Breckin "Anybody Can Have a Career in Hollywood, I'm Living Proof" Meyer.

"Rat Race" is a dumbed down version of the "Cannonball Run" movies of the early 1980's, only a lot more annoying. The only saving grace is Cuba Gooding, Jr., who was the only good thing about this movie, but he isn't on screen very long (my only guess is he owed director Jerry Zucker a favor, a very BIG favor at that). The story gets grating as there are too many participants in the race from Las Vegas to New Mexico and too many "loony" happenings that may be "loony", but also not funny. With the exception of Gooding (and Amy Smart in her equestrian pants when her mouth is shut), nobody is that interesting to watch. The best of the rest of the cast, including Jon Lovitz and Wayne Knight are totally wasted here.

Don't even get me started on the awful Rowlan Atkinson of "Bean" fame (or infamy), who can clear out a room faster than a Doors organ solo with his appearance.

To top it all off, the ending of this movie is one of the worst I have ever seen and is definitely not worth the 100+ minutes it takes you to get there. I'm tempted to spill my guts about it to keep people from spending their money either renting or (shudder) buying it, but I won't, so you'll have to see it for yourselves.

Summary: A Comedic Masterpiece!!!
Review: It's been a long time since I had seen a movie that made me laugh so much that it hurt. This movie was such a great surprise, it really had me in awe. Usually comedies are go to lame lengths, but this one hits a bulls eye every time.

The basic story line of this movie is that a group of people are given a once in a lifetime chance to win 2 million dollars. The catch: it's a race that quickly stirs out of control for all of these zany characters that you run into. Everything that could go wrong does for these poor saps, and then some! There are so many stars in this movie! I don't want to give away too much, because very unpredictable things happen that will catch you off guard and cause you to fall out of your seat laughing hysterically. And this isn't one of those comedies that have been ruined by the commercials or trailer; there are NUMEROUS scenes that aren't even mentioned, which makes them more of a surprise. There were numerous moments where I was practically in tears from laughing so hard. The ending was a little weak and common, but it still doesn't ruin the rest of the movie, and it still works for the film.

I was very impressed with the DVD. Tons of special features for a comedy; You have a behind the scenes feature, and interview with the director and writer, a gag reel, out takes, and more! The picture and sound quality was more than satisfactory. If I were you, I would save the theatrical trailer for when you finish the movie; it sort of gives away a lot of the funniest scenes in the movie. And DO NOT watch the behind the scenes feature until you see the movie all the way through.

Despite the ending that could've been a little better and less common, "Rat Race" is a laugh riot that will keep you laughing until it hurts; then you'll laugh some more. While the movie can be crude and vulgar at times, it also is brilliant and creative. Don't take my word for it; rent it or buy it and see it for yourself. When it comes to comedy, people have different tastes and expectations, so see it for yourself with an open mind. This is a very high quality comedy that is worth watching over and over again. A very easy 5 out of 5 stars!

Summary: One of the funniest films of the year!
Review: This movie is hilarious. The only reason it got such bad reviews is because the critics took it too seriously. This is a light, fun, and silly comedy that will keep you laughing the whole way through. Sure, the plot is implausable, but that doesn't matter since it's so funny! It has a great cast, featuring such talented comedians as John Cleese, Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Lovitz, and Cuba Gooding Jr. The DVD features some of the funniest extras I have ever seen! So, if you're looking for a good laugh, rent "Rat Race".

Summary: WOW!
Review: Wow. I don't think they're enough adjectives in the English language to describe how wretchedly awful this picture is. Why was this movie made? I wasted an hour and a half of my life on this tripe.

Summary: One of the funniest movies I've ever seen!
Review: Ok, usually, I hate movies that try to be so stupid, they're funny. This movie, although it had some stupid moments, was definately better than I expected. The cast was amazing, with John Cleese and Woopie, Bean and all other memorable faces. If nothing else, at least rent this movie, because it was worth it. My personal favorite moment was the Squirrel Lady, but I won't give too much away.

Summary: An originally funny slapstick!!
Review: If you have a juvenile sense of humor and slapstick comedy makes you laugh --

- GET THIS DVD!!!!

It is truly hilarious.

The slapstick is original, unexpected and with exceptional timing. It really keeps you rolling in the isles! Rat Race sports an all star comedy caste, including 3 academy awards winners (Whoopie Goldberg, Katherine Bates, and Cuba Gooding, Jr.)!

We got it on a whim, and were in hysterics with laughter! I can't remember laughing that hard since watching "Tommy Boy!" for the first time.

Also, the DVD features are worthwhile, but not overwhelming.

Summary: Horrible writing makes for a horrible movie
Review: Although this movie had the cast talent to be funny, the writers just wouldn't allow it. The only shining spot in this whole film is John Lovitz and the things that he goes through, but even he couldn't save this dog of a movie. The topper to it all is that it has probably the dumbest ending I've ever seen in a film. If you're unlucky enough to see this movie you'll see what I'm talking about.

Summary: hhehehehehehehahahahhahahaha....HOHOHOHOHO!!!!
Review: This movie is one of the funniest films I've ever seen. When it came out in theaters, my friends and I ended up watching it 5 times. hehe. I've entertained quite a few guests with this film too. Lovitz's character's set up was a riot. I should have bought a squirl.
