Rating: Summary: Rat Race...HILARIOUS!!!! Review: Rat Race is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a while! The Plot- A bunch of people selected by winning a special coin while playing the slot machine at casino in Las Vegas are selected to do a once in a lifetime job and race to find 2 million dollars in a locker in Silver City, New Mexico. The stars of the movie are in such a hurry to get the two million bucks, that they do some very stupid/funny things to get the cash. The whole movie is very funny and not dull or boring one part of the entire movie. The reason I gave this DVD 4 stars is because the deleted scenes, I personally thought were not that exciting. Just remember, that's my opinion. You may love them, but I'm not that crazy about them. Everthing else in the movie was EXCELLENT!!! The DVD feature's include: Widescreen version,Dolby Digital surround sound, English Subtitles, Interactive Menus, Scene Selections, Theatrical Trailer, Exclusive Interview with Director Jerry Zucker and Writer Andy Breckman, Deleted Scenes, The Making of Rat Race, Gag Reel, Outake Scene, "Jerry and Andy Call the Actors"
Rating: Summary: Great Comedy! Review: Just as it was seeming like classic comedys had been a thing of the past, they finally made this great comedy! Not since Cannonball had such a great allstar cast been put together to make such a great comedy of this remake of RATRACE! This movie is like the Cannonball run movies! Its packed with great comedy, fun for the familly and amazingly each charactor has a completly diffrent personality to the others! This is a great movie and well worth buying if your into these whacky car race movies! Half the bonues features are worth a look at, and some of them are quite boring, espeichlly the audio phone calls to talk to the cast after the release of the movie...ZZZzzzzzzz, tho you might find it intresting?! But the movie it self is one of the best comedys in years!
Rating: Summary: A+ DVD presentation. Review: Any movie bold enough to feature Kathy Bates reprising her "Annie Wilkes" character* selling squirrels roadside must be worth a look! Throw in John Cleese wearing Peter Cooke's teeth (see DVD extras), Cuba Gooding driving a bus full of Lucys (as in "I Love..."), a blond Whoopie Goldberg, an airborn cow, plus Mr. Bean and Seinfeld's Newman chasing a dog to retrieve a human heart, then you know there are going to be laughs to spare! RAT RACE is no Gone With The Wind but it's fun! If one gag doesn't work for you then wait for the next! The movie itself is not 5 stars but more like 3.5 which means it's a good film. Now, why 5 stars on this review? Because the DVD is top notch. If you like the movie you should buy it in this format. A funny movie to watch is only part of it. Do some poking around and you'll find outtakes (the wrestling scene should've stay in the final picture), bloopers (love the giggles) and interviews. Including a terrific alternative to the normal movie commentary that's on most DVDs. The director and writer call most of the stars - from John Cleese and Roman Atkinson to Cuba Gooding and Jon Lovitz - and do candid interviews over the phone. Gooding and Lovitz had me laughing harder than I did while watching the actual movie. Brillant stuff! This is how to do a good DVD. I was a little disappointed that no commentary sound track was done for the film but they seem to indicate it was planned but scapped in favor of the phone interviews (or did I miss it somehow?). Not a bad trade off. Now, when people ask you - and people will ask you - if RAT RACE is funny you should ask them if IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD is a concept that has been gathering dust for too long in Hollywood's attic. RAT RACE is not a ripoff of MAD but a wonderful updating. Sure it's not perfect (might be a little too long) but you'll have a fun time with the DVD. * the character Bates won an Oscar for in Stephen King's Misery.
Rating: Summary: Miles and miles of laughs... Review: Shades of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World! Rat Race takes an all-star cast, meshes it with an unbelievable reward, and sets them both loose on a crash-course with comedy. When casino owner Donald Sinclair (John Cleese) places a $2 million reward in front of a group of people, the results are both predictable and unpredictable at the same time. It's easy to guess that everyone will do everything short of murder in order to get to the money first. But what is pleasantly surprising is that the laughs and twists in the plot are so frequent and refreshingly original. Never before have Lucille Ball impersonators, orphan squirrels and flying cows been so entertaining! While the ending is a slight let-down, the rest of the movie is more than entertaining; in fact, I would rate this among the 10 funniest movies I have ever seen. The biggest treats are Vince Vieluf as a tongue-pierced mumbler, Seth Green as his conniving brother and Rowan Atkinson as an outrageous Italian with a case of narcolepsy. Kathy Bates makes a very funny unbilled appearance as a crazed squirrel-peddler. The DVD has some very interesting and original features, including surprise phone calls to the stars and a hillarious outtake featuring Vieluf and Green. If you're looking for comedy, you won't do much better than Rat Race.
Rating: Summary: Looking for the 1960 classic Review: Every time I search on "Rat Race" I hope that the beautiful 1960 production with Tony Curtis and Debbie Reynolds will have appeared on video, but alas, I've been trying for several years and continue to be disappointed.

Rating: Summary: ............. Review: I watched this movie around when it was just released on DVD and video, and until I saw Rat Race at my local BJ's, I had completely forgotten this movie had existed. It's not one of those movies that you 'have to have', persay, but it's worthy of buying. I bought it, but mainly just because it was like 8.88 or something and for some apparent reason I just was inclined to buy it. But like I said, until then, I had forgotten it had existed. WARNING!!!!!!! Side effects that may take place after or during the course of this movie may include drowsiness. Do not attempt to watch if you are expecting a 'side-splitting laughter' type of comedy. It's one of those movies where you may lose your audience. That's a good way to put it in a nutshell. But the middle to the end of the movie is where all of the 'good' parts take place in. In addition to this movie, I would also recommend The Italian Job, which I would give 5+ stars. That movie was just awesome!
Rating: Summary: You Should Have Bought the Squirrel.....Ahhhhhhhh!!!!! Review: Where do these writers come up with these insanely funny ideas that make you laugh almost the whole time.....lines like, "I'm prairie dogging.....", Gloria Allred making fun of herself...., Amy Smart being angry then nice. There are too many funny one liners that you laugh and laugh. The casting, the scenes, the mood is one of just great fun. Jon Lovitz is really funny having a run in with skin heads and driving a car belonging to a very famous Nazi. One way that this flick exceeded Mad....World is that you had a couple, a whole family, a mom and her daughter, a couple of teenage guys, along with a smattering of single males working their way across the desert from Las Vegas to Silver City New Mexico. Anyone who has driven across the desert will recognize some of the places.....is there really a Barbie Museum :-). How funny can you get??? Cuba Gooding does a very funny job as a professional referee down on his luck, meeting the Lucy convention....where did that come from? The girls doing the Lucy imitations were a great treat...so very fun to see so many have the opportunity to be in a movie. The movie is fast action, there is a lot of stories all coming together, you have the unigue scenes relating to a couple who just met, a whole family, a mother and daughter, two older teenagers, a few single people all going for the same reward and each taking their own route to the train station. Look for funny lines like..."how do you start it.." I mean really, who thought of that? It is just plain funny. I can't understand how anyone could not rate this a pure 5 all the way. I have recommended Rat Race to all of my friends, and I do not do that with many movies.....get Rat Race and have a good two hours of side splitting fun. Joe Slevin
Rating: Summary: A MAZE FOR FUNNY RATS Review: What made RAT RACE such fun for me was the fact that director Zucker gave all of his cast some pretty funny moments, without focusing on one particular star. Rowan Atkinson, reminiscent of Roberto Bellignini, was the only one who wore thin, but the rest of the players had some truly hilarious moments: Seth Green and Vince Vieluf as the clueless brothers; Whoopi Goldberg and Lanei Chapman as the recently united mother and daughter; Jon Lovitz and Kathy Najimy as the Jews who steal Hitler's car!; Breckin Meyer and Amy Smart, who are the closest to "normal" even have a funny scene with hunk actor Dean Cain; John Cleese is his formidable self; Cuba Gooding mugs effectively, and Dave Thomas has some hilarious moments as the man born without a personality. The flying cow, the monster trucks, the Lucy convention all add up to some typically zany Zucker antics! I laughed and enjoyed myself. That's what movies like this are for!
