Summary: Side-Splitting Yuks Galore!
Review: Drawing on his own life experiences, Adam Sandler plays Bobby Boucher, a gibbering, blithering idiot from the bayou. It is the role Sandler was born to play, as actor and character meld into one dang funny Cajun Cretin! If you've ever seen Sandler do his hilarious "Cajun Man" on SNL (where every other word rhymes with Un-YON), you can imagine how funny this film will be.

When you think of the all-time greatest comedy films from Hollywood, this one is right up there with "It's Pat!" as truly representative of its genre.

Bravo, Sandler, Bravo!

Summary: Half and Half
Review: "The Waterboy" stars Adam Sandler as Bobby Boucher, the twenty-something waterboy for the local college football team in his home state of Louisiana. Bobby is constantly harrassed by the team's players and its coach, Red Beaulieu (Jerry Reed). One day Bobby is tormented by one of the players and is fired by Coach Beaulieu for disrupting his team.

Bobby then finds employment as the waterboy for another college football team in the area. This team is coached by the mild mannered Coach Kline (Henry Winkler) who challenges Bobby to stand up for himself when the players on his team start to poke fun at him. Bobby snaps when the team's quarterback says something that brings up all the bad feelings he's ever had and Bobby proceeds to deck him with a vicious tackle. Thus starts Bobby Boucher's college football career.

To say that "The Waterboy" is an idiot comedy is like saying the Grand Canyon is a hole in the ground. This is idiot comedy taken to the extreme. About half of the movie works, like when Bobby drop kicks an opposing player for having said something about his momma. The other half, like the mumbling of Farmer Fran (Blake Clark), is just stupid.

Sandler's accent in this movie is not cajun or even southern, it's a cross between a five year old and someone with a severe stutter. It gets a little annoying after a while but certainly fits the role better than Sandler's own voice.

I almost gave this movie two stars for making me watch Kathy Bates in a horribly casted role as Bobby's scheming mother. She doesn't want him playing "no foosball" or messing with girls (they's the devil). Bobby of course does both by joining the college football team and hooking up with Vicki Vallencourt, played by Fairuza Balk.

I wouldn't recommend "The Waterboy" as the Adam Sandler movie to see if you are only going to see one of them. The one I recommend is "Happy Gilmore". Sadly though, this is Sandler's second best movie to date. That he manages to pull down $20 million per film is a testament to just how far our culture has fallen. Jerry Lewis's films used to be a nice diversion from the great blockbuster films like "Gone with the Wind" and "The Maltese Falcon". Now, in the person of Adam Sandler, Jerry Lewis is the blockbuster. Perhaps we have more in common with the French than we know.

Summary: Absolutely Disgusting
Review: This film is a real stinker. No picture could be as bad as this horrid movie. Adam Sandler stars as a jibbering [simpleton](again?!)who has a job as waterboy for the local football team. He gets angry and delivers a bone crunching tag on a player which gets him a place on the football team. Now, don't get me wrong. I like Adam Sandler. I really do. But, this is just too awful. The funny voices he always does get old in the first 2 minutes. A whole movie of it is unbearable!. It's also sad to see a great actress like Kathy Bates in this. What was she thinking?. Same with Henry Winkler. Fonz, this isn't cool!. Fairuza Balk, as the love interest, is shrill and unappealing. So is this whole movie. A waste of money, time, and talent. Folks, it doesn't get any more sickening than The Waterboy. If you like Sandler, I recommend "The Wedding Singer", "Big Daddy", and "Happy Gilmore". Not that those are classics, but they are fifty times better.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: The Waterboy was greatly hyped, but, in my opinion, was greatly disappointing. I think the reason the Waterboy was such a big box office hit is that it came after the Wedding Singer which was a much better movie and many people thought they would get more of the same with the Waterboy. I can only imagine that the hard-core Adam Sandler fans would really like this movie.

Review: I thought it was terrible. I didn't laugh once through that entire movie! Adam Sandler can't act. Icould do a better job than he did. Jim Carry. Now That's an actor!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not one of his best films
Review: Adam Sandler is very funny in this movie but I did not enjoy this movie as much. I recommend Big Daddy and Happy Gilmore if your looking for a classic Adam Sandler laugh.

Summary: Adam Sandler Is THE WATERBOY
Review: THE WATERBOY is a comedy starring Adam Sandler as a backwoods Cajun man who lives with his overbearing mother and has a day job serving water to the local football team at the local college. When he gets tired of all the football team members making fun of him, he let's his rage out and tackles whoever direspects him. When the football coach find's out about The Waterboy's special 'talent,' he offers The Waterboy a chance to play football...now sit back, get something to eat, get something to drink, and prepare to laugh yourself sick! Any Adam Sandler fan must see this!

Summary: Adam Sandler: Funny the first time
Review: The title I used on this review is true. It also applies to Jim Carrey. The first time you see this movie, you will laugh, unless you have no sense of humour. But after that you question why you laughed, and then not laugh again. However I gave the movie two stars because Adam Sandler is funny (just not in the waterboy) and Fairuza Balk and Kathy Bates were great. But why the Fonz? I don't like Happy Days and I didn't like seeing his face again.
