Review: This movie is very very funny, it made me laugh a lot, from the beginning of it to the end. That's not easy to do these days. This might possibly be the best Jim Carrey movie ever, so for a good laugh, watch this movie.

Summary: Pet Detective At Your Service!!
Review: This is Jim Carrey's first leading role, which it also started his acting debut. I thought that this movie was very funny and it's worth watching! The script was well written and the comedy will just leave you rolling on the floor laughing. If you have a little humor...then this movie is for you! If you don't like laughter in a humor way...then this movie is definitely not for you! This film was followed by a sequel which wasn't that great.

Summary: A little goes a long way...
Review: Critics gagged, audiences roared, and Jim Carrey, who'd been in eight movies (including two with Clint Eastwood) and two TV series ("The Duck Factory" and "In Living Color"), yelled "Allll righty, then!" all the way to the bank. Carrey has an endlessly elastic face, a voice to match, and a genuine gift for physical comedy; unfortunately, in the case of this movie, somebody needed to sit him down and explain the concept "A little goes a long way." As the eponymous doofus hero, Carrey puts a wacky spin on every damn thing he does, every line he delivers; as a result, he's funny for about five minutes, after which he becomes boring. You get exhausted watching him, and when he finally lets up and delivers some dialogue in a halfway normal voice, it's a huge relief. As for the movie, it's a witless, sub-"Police Academy" farce in which Ace hunts for the Miami Dolphins' stolen mascot. Carrey does meet his match in Sean Young, playing a hard-nosed police lieutenant of dubious gender. Having accepted the fact that she can't act, Young manages to shine in roles like this, where it doesn't matter if she's bad. The twist ending is unnecessary and has the unsavory side effect of teaching millions of young Ace fans that it's unimaginably gross for a man to kiss another man -- this from a movie whose hero talks out of his rectum.

Review: It is always nice to see where actors get their break. Ace Ventura is one of these movies. To bad that it gets a bit to silly and even Jim can not save the movie at times. The Einhorn thing though was pretty funny.

Review: I thought this movie was REALLY funny. It seems like this was his greatest at goofyness. Just funny enough with out over doing it. I would also give it 4 or 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that it is (currently) only available in DVD standard full screen format.

Summary: Pan & Scan DVD!
Review: I thought that I'd hate this movie and had very low expectations; however, I warmed up to this movie quickly and it had me laughing uproariously. So I'd give the MOVIE four or five stars. And, I would love to buy it on DVD, but I can't. Why? Because, at least as of right now (3/26/00), the movie is only available in PAN & SCAN format. It was filmed in widescreen, I want it in widescreen when I buy it on DVD. Check the technical specifications as this may have changed (they're re-releasing Caddyshack in widescreen, so it's possible).

Review: This is a brilliant comedy and one of Carreys most famous. The much immitated antics of Ace Ventura are crude but very funny and a sequel which was also very good came out a couple of years later. I hope there will be a third as it's funnier than the overatted Austin Powers.
