Rating: Summary: "Two weeks" Review: My husband and I still say that with every home project we come across. This movie is pure joy from start to finish. Hey you guys: how about the line where they are fighting and he states "oh, the plaster came?" Hurray for Tom Hanks who, of course, makes this movie what it is. Will enjoy watching it over and over with the whole family. Now if we could only get it in DVD form!
Rating: Summary: It wasn't that funny Review: It was a good comedy but not that funny
Rating: Summary: Absolutely hilarious! Review: This is my favorite comedy of all time, and no matter how many times I see it, it always makes me laugh again. Anyone who has ever hired a contractor for home improvements and had a band of pirates show up at the door will appreciate this. The cost! the delays! the mistakes! It's great fun, and the romantic subplot makes it even funnier. A great addition to any video collection.
Rating: Summary: Tom Hanks at his best!!! Review: How funny is the scene when Tom Hanks sinks into the floor? "For a minute, I thought the Care Bears were here!!" Anyone who likes this movie remembers that line as well as the hundreds of other funny lines and scenes. A must see for Tom Hanks fans. If you liked this, also see 'The Burbs' and 'Big.' Both classic Tom Hanks comedies.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely hilarious Review: I cannot imagine why the critics have been so hard on this movie. I am a huge fan of Tom Hanks, and seeing this movie started me out that way. There are so many hysterical scenes, especially the one in which he goes to the kitchen and simply turns on the light. The movie is good, pure, clean fun and does not pretend to make any grand statement about society. It's just plain funny.
Rating: Summary: Be Prepared to Laugh Review: If you can't laugh at this movie then you need a new sense of humor. I literally fell off the couch laughing at the sequence beginning with the raccoon in the dumbwaiter. I had just recovered and then it was all downhill from there! If you need to laugh, this is the movie to get. The critics hated it but take it from me, if you have ever bought a house you will find humor in this.
Rating: Summary: Laughed so hard I couldn't breathe! Review: This is a simple, enjoyable movie. You have to take it as it is. I can watch this with my kids, and they laugh just as hard as me. My favorite part is after the kitchen is "done", when the bathtub falls through the floor, and Tom Hanks gets hysterical. Really a good flick, enjoyable for the whole family.
Rating: Summary: What can happen with a deal of a lifetime,in homebuying!! Review: A young couple wanting to buy an impressive home, with not much capital, finds a remarkable old mansion. The owner appears to be just a little lady wanting them to get a home to be proud of. In reality she is con-artist.The plot thickens immediatly as they commute to house from hell on daily basis. What appears to be a few minor problems escalates into unbelievable chaos. An ex-husband of wife is there to complicate matters.Every thing that is possible goes wrong, almost a Murphys law testimony in a home. The construction crew, plumbers, inspectors add to the comedy in a just this side of reality way.The real estate brokers might not want young home buyers to view this one before they show them budget priced homes. Tom Hanks and Shelly Long at their best.
Rating: Summary: Anyone who is home owner will enjoy the humor in this movie Review: What a pleasure this movie was! If you are a home owner and have done any "fixing up" you will laugh uncontrollably. Some where in the movie you will see yourself at some point. Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Simply too funny Review: "The Money Pit" may have been a disaster at the box office and with critics at the time but this movie is just too hilarious. This is one of the few movies that makes me laugh until tears starts rolling down my face. My personal favorite moment is when Shelly Long finds a raccoon in the dumb waiter and it leaps at her. Seeing her running around screaming with a raccoon on her shoulder is hysterical. Of course just watching Tom Hanks' character try to fix the house is equally funny, particularly when he hears Shelly's character screaming and he runs...or tries to run up the poorly built staircase. The classic moment is when he falls into that hole and is stuck there for most of the day, missing out on an important meeting with a contractor and then seeing Shelly Long's expression when she finds him stuck in the hole. "The Money Pit" remains one of my top favorite comedies of all time as well as favorite Tom Hanks film.
