Summary: ENTERTAINMENT AT ITS BEST!
Review: Are there extraterrestrials living among us? Is your next door neighbor one? How about the manager of your local supermarket?
Ah.....these are the questions you may be asking yourself after watching this outsanding movie, " Men In Black."
Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, Secret Agents who are secretely keeping the aliens that live on earth in line, are our main players in this movie along with many yucky creepy aliens from God only knows where. When one of these aliens threatens our world the action begins and the battle between alien and earthmen heats up.
This movie had great special effects, great acting and many downright laugh outloud times. It was outstanding entertainment for the entire family and a movie that you would not mind seeing over and over again.

Summary: A hilarious, action-packed sci-fi thrill ride
Review: Campy yet clever, Men in Black is just a whale of an entertaining movie, sporting all kinds of great action, some surprisingly good dialogue, fine acting by Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith, and a small galaxy full of laughs. It is actually a little surprising to me that it took so long for Hollywood to make a movie spoofing the infamous Men in Black, mysterious entities who reportedly intervene on occasion in the lives of those having just made significant UFO or alien sightings. The only thing that should stop anyone from enjoying this movie is a chronic inability to suspend one's disbelief and just sit back and enjoy something meant as pure entertainment and nothing else.

The plot isn't that complicated. Aliens of all sorts have been around for ages on earth, and the public is kept ignorant of their existence because, as Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) says, a person may be smart but people are dumb and would panic if their self-absorbed fantasy reality were to be pulled out from under their feet. One organization, the Men in Black, makes sure that earthlings are kept in the dark and that visiting aliens are kept in check. Will Smith plays a New York City cop who unknowingly impresses a top MIB agent by chasing down a disguised cephalopod on foot. The future Agent J (Smith) is not your typical MIB recruit, espousing some disregard for authority, making light of all kinds of situations, and generally just making everything he says and does hilarious. He shows up for an "entrance test" even after having his memory of a most mind-expanding night's events "flashing-thingied" out of his head, but he doesn't really buy the whole concept of aliens until he sees some little extraterrestrial Cheech and Chong-type fellows inside MIB headquarters. His first two days on the job are, to say the least, eventful. A big bad alien bug has landed illegally in upstate New York with designs on stealing a galaxy belonging to a visiting royal family member from another planet, and the fate of Earth hangs in the balance as the offended alien race demands their galaxy be returned to them.

One thing I really like about Men in Black is the fact that some of the funniest bits happen outside the main focus of the shot - nothing tops the scene in which, in the background, we watch Agent J attempt to help deliver a non-human baby. I also got a kick out of seeing executive producer Steven Spielberg subtly identified as an alien. A number of easy-to-miss references of this type are imbedded in the film, making multiple viewings interesting as well as entertaining.

There are plenty of special effects throughout the movie. The aliens are all done quite nicely (and there is enough exploding bug goo to satisfy just about anyone), while a few of the Batman-type effects have a campy look and feel to them; I actually think campy was the way to go because this movie was not made to be taken too seriously. The dialogue is actually quite good, I think, including some witty pop culture references, and Tommy Lee Jones' deadpan delivery is the perfect counterpoint to the infectious humor of Will Smith. Smith has played this type of character before, and no one does it better. The man is just funny, and it is his performance that made this summertime release such a successful, quintessential summer blockbuster.

Summary: funny, but stupid movie
Review: I was very disappointed with this movie. Not because of the special effects, which were out of this world! Nor because of the acting, which was fairly good. But because the movie horribly failed to reflect the writers' intent to be both serious and humorous.

The writers of this film intended the movie to be like the Lethal Weapon series: Both humorous and at the same time serious. However, after carefully watching "Men in Black" I find it impossible to take the movie seriously. Instead, the movie presents, at best, a close encounters parody. For example, in one seen Agent "J" (played by the great Will Smith) is looking for a cat and he says to the doctor whose office is holding the cat, "well this cat, is a witness in a murder... I'mma need to bring it in n' ask it a couple of questions." Earlier in the movie the two opened up a body and find an alien where the brain should be. What's the woman's reaction? She---with a sad look on her face as the alien was dying at the point---immediately tries to help the alien find the right words for what he's trying to say! I think that is ridiculous.

So, again, I think this movie is nothing more than a parody, not worth buying (rent it first and see!).

Summary: Superbit - is it worth it?
Review: MIB is an excellent film. I bought this DVD to test the Superbit picture. Honestly, I could not see a significant difference. I watched it on a normal TV with a progressive scan DVD player and could not tell it was higher resolution.

Summary: Trailer was the movie.
Review: Someone once said- This is the movie that is defined by its trailer... Once you have seen the trailer, you have seen the movie. I think it was me after viewing it for the first time. I bought this movie on reputation and after a single viewing, was very disappointed. But upon further review, since friends would request it, the movie grew on me. The Edger suit bit was just to funny. The constant interaction between Smith and Jones was fun. The bit with the morgue doctor... the flashy thing.

In the end, this is a good movie, not great, but recommended.

To bad the sequel was bad.

Summary: Good Fun
Review: Men In Black, or MIB, is a funny, exciting, fun ride from beginning to end. The chemistry between Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith was better than expected. Tommy Lee Jones's seriousness mixed with Will Smith's hilarious one-liners and added together with big slimy aliens, huge sci-fi guns, and cool special effects, make together for an extremely fun movie.

When agent K(Tommy Lee Jones) is in search of a new partner for his top seceret agency of agents protecting the world from dangerous aliens, he recruits smart-alec, big mouthed, NYPD street cop, James(Will Smith) to do the job. When James is introduced and told about the strange aliens who are living on this very earth, he is given a new identity(Agent J), a new wardrobe(a black suit with black sunglasses), and becomes unknown and secret to the entire world.

Their mission is to track down a giant cockroach-like alien who is trying to start a war between the humans and the aliens. Agants K and J are faced with many action packed and hilarious challenges to stop the alien from leaving earth and destroying the Alien planet that will start a war with planet earth if it shall be destroyed.

Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are like the sci-fi version of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover of Lethal Weapon. Very fun ride with many laughs and great special effects. This is a movie you do not want to miss.

"Men In Black" runs for about 95 minutes. It is rated PG-13 for sci-fi violence, some gross images(slimy aliens and aliens exploding with their entrails flying everywhere), and some language.

Summary: Nice Movie
Review: Science fiction isn't my favorite genre. However, throw some comedy in there and you've got yourselves a movie.

Will Smith plays a cop recruited by the Men In Black. Although the comedy is only once in a while, it's hilarious when it hits you. I think they should have let him crack a few more jokes like in MIB II. Of course, a lot of the humour in that is ......

Tommy Lee Jones. You think he would be too old or something. He happens to be the best choice. Actually, come to think of it, Robert DeNero... ah, never mind. Jones does a great job acting. However, he lacks in expression [Think Keanu Reeves{Not really that bad}].

The special effects are spectacular, from the weird alien dude in the guy's body, to the alien without the guy's body, the FX never fail.

I bought this movie and finished it a couple days ago. I was taking a chance buying it. I'm so glad I did. This is one of my favorite movies.

Also, check out my so you want to watch a good comedy movie thing.

Summary: Too Funny!
Review: This was a great movie. The pairing of Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith showed unbelievable ability on the part of the casting directors as the two work very well together. This movie also shows that a great effort was made in the costume department.

There is comedy around every turn that L (Jones) and K (Smith) make as they chase aliens and earase memories. Be prepared for a laugh as you will not be dissapointed.

Summary: Saving the world from the scum of movie making
Review: The classic government conspiracy surrounding the UFO and alien phenomenon comes out at last with explosive and literally gooey force. It's a film that takes almost every aspect of the government conspiracy theory (the black-suited men, the aliens, the spaceships, and power-freak teachers) and puts it in a funny and exciting reference.

The film's story line is relatively simple and small-scale, but still leaves much room for thrills, suspense, humor, and imagination. At the same time, it allows characters sufficient room to develop. The actors of the film did a swell job in this film, and are topped only by the film's special effects.

Combined with a great theme song and musical score, this film is most enjoyable. The special features in this disc set makes the movie even more worth it. It's a deluxe deal!
