Summary: The Real Kings of Comedy are Back!
Review: It has been 14 long years, but it has finally returned. The first season of In Living Color is packed with 13 episodes of pure comedy. Featuring funny comics such as Kenan Ivory Wayans, Damon Wayans, Tommy Davidson, Jim Carrey, and many more. You'll not only see hilarious sketches based on characters like Homey the Clown, The Brother's Brothers, Vera DeMilo, and the Homeboy Shopping Network, you'll hear some of the best beats of that time played by DJ SW1 and danced to by the beautiful Fly Girls. This DVD set not only deserves 5 stars, but two snaps in a circle.

Summary: A little faded
Review: I recalled some laughs watching this show 10+ years ago, so I figured I would "go for it".

Positives:

1. The "Men on..." sketches. Two snaps in a circle. Tickle me pink!
2. Homey D. Clown. Would like him in every episode but..."Homey don't play dat".
3. Anton the wino. Remodels his house and installs mason-jar bathroom. Also has his day in court. Big on snot.
4. The PSA's for higher learning. Your colonic orifice glows in putrifaction. Let me spew my bowels if I may.

Those are the stand-outs. There are about 5 or 6 other good skits - spread out over 13 shows.

Negatives:

1. Long intro credits.
2. Fly girls not really that great - (sorry, not into hip hop gyration).
3. Keenen's intro to every show was identical - comes out of door - "Hi, I'm Keenen Ivory Wayans. This is In Living Color. I just want to introduce our DJ, SW1. And these are the fly girls, A, B, C, and D." Goes back in door.
4. Two episodes have a "commentary" for lack of a better term, by cast-member Tommy Davidson. Sparce comments are mostly telling us how great the show is.
5. "Fly girl featurette" had a lot of talking by Rosie Perez (choreographer), which caused me to pass on it.

Short "featurette" was OK - mostly comments from production/writing/casting department - about how great the show is.

There is a lot of so-so stuff, although it is obviously personal preference. Comedy is a tough business. Not sure if I will pop for season 2.

Summary: Aged
Review: I loved "In Living Color" over a decade ago. It felt very aged when I watched the first season on DVD last night. I think the show was so great because it was so fresh and up to the minute but it is not 1990 anymore. One of my favorite bits, the "Men on film" segment, discussed movies that have long been forgotten in my mind and I suspect in the mind of many. Sure there are still great scenes and I still laughed out loud on occasion, but not to the degree I did fourteen years. I really wanted to be able to write a good review of this legendary television show, but I find that to be impossible. Sorry.

Summary: Good, great, grand, WONDERFUL!
Review: This DVD is, well, I have three words to describe it.... Fab yoo lus. Homey tha Clown is still as funny as he was 10 + years ago. This is a must have for any collection. You get 13 full episodes of this great stuff. You see Vera DeMilo, the bodybuilder. You see Michael Jackson Mr. Potato Head, which can even look like his idol Diana Ross. You get the "first black man on the moon", Slick Johnson, and he gets left on the moon to die. You get one of my favorites, America's Funniest Security Videos. You get Whiz and Ice trying to sell you stolen things from the back of a U-Haul truck. They even try to sell you a book. What is the book about? "Mo' Money Mo' Money Mo' Money!" Speaking of money, this set was well worth it. It ends up to be about $30. You get 3 discs, that's $10 a disc. Well worth it. Dave Chapelle is great, and the old SNL was hilarious. But nothing compares to this. This is like the black version of SNL, making it the funniest thing to ever hit the airwaves since the original SNL years. If you don't buy this, at least go to your rich friend's house to see it. I am telling you, this is good times. And this DVD is soley for good laughs and great times. So do yourself a fovar and buy it!

Summary: Two Great Casts!!
Review: This show has two great casts, the ones mentioned in the credits and the cast of characters they create. Jim Carrey's Captain Kirk is so far over the top he is in danger vertigo. Damon Wayon's Homey D. Clown is brilliant(can't wait for the movie they are filming). Then Damon and David Allen Grier as the pre- Will and Grace era "Men On.." reviewers will make other insensensitive types like me laugh hysterically!

Summary: The Best
Review: Is there anybody who DIDN'T like this show??? It's the best sketch show. Ever. EVER!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: It is about time they released this. I miss watching Homey the Clown put the smack down on the kids and watching Fire Marshall Bill stick his hand everywhere it didn't belong. I don't think anyone has anything bad to say about this. I am gonna go watch my copy now....
