Summary: Do we have to subscribe to cable to enjoy "Sex in the City?"
Review: Are we doomed to have to order cable to see "Sex in the City"? Is it possible to avoid the agonizing and empty wait for the cable guy to install an overpriced service that still pads programming with tons of commercials? Are the talk and all the awards lavished on the cable show all hype and glitz? I decided to order the complete collection of the first season of "Sex in the City" and check it out.

It is hilarious, surprising, urbane and enlightening. I was expecting fruit for thought and got a delicious and earthy light meal with lots of chocolate and sparkling wine for desert. It is a fun and a real observation of the single world that is out there and how it views the current sexual mores, the foibles of the urban psychological landscape, and the married world. The writing and performances are fresh and explore the Manhattan of Candace Bushnell's columns with honesty, charm, and stylish shoes. Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie), Kim Cattrall (Samantha), Kristin Davis (Charlotte), and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) are a spicy ensemble that are (Middle English word for procreation) funny. The cable guy can hook me up later. The memory of the first episode's scene where "Big" delicious responds to Carrie's question, "Have you ever been in love before?", will sustain me until I can see the next episodes.

My next review for Amazon.com will be, "How long can a viewer wait for a successful online store to stock the second and following seasons of "Sex in the City?"

The VHS format provided enjoyable viewing.

Review: Loved it....ready to start with # 1 & work my way up to # 12 again. Hoping HBO releases Season 2 soon!!!

I have enjoyed being able to view a show I've read so much about but never been able to watch.( We do not have cable in my area.) I would spend $34.95 again in a heartbeat for this video. I am really hoping Season 2 will be released someday soon.

Summary: Good show, horrible picture quality
Review: While it may be a good show the picture quality on this dvd is terribal. the picture is very ruff and grainy. Watching the show on HBO from my satilite is clearer than the DVD.

Summary: Thanks HBO ... can we have Season 2 now?
Review: I'd only seen a couple of episodes of this wonderfully funny, honest show during the odd hotel stay (I don't get HBO). I was thrilled to see it released on DVD and spent last weekend watching it with my best friend! It's really a quality cast and has outstanding writing, and is every bit as funny (and then some) as the highest-rated network comedies. Admittedly it *is* racy, so if you've not seen it before you should be warned. These 4 women certainly making being single and in the city look like a lot of fun.

Summary: Great Show, Bad Transfer
Review: The transfer is horrible. I was surprised how "grainy" the transfer is. It seems as though they tried to compress to much information on each disc. I would have been happier with 3 discs with better picture quality.

Summary: Great
Review: I watched the whole pack about 3 times. This show is so amazing. I would love to see the second season out for sale. I recommend to everyone to watch Sex in the City. It's great....

Summary: Fun show - crap quality DVD
Review: The quality of this transfer is really pathetic compared to what can be done on DVD. Has a bad case of what looks like overcompression or simply poor transfer. Had really high hopes for this coming from HBO, but their weekly broadcast (especially on HBOHD) puts this DVD to shame. Image is just a shade worse than standard cable, worse than sat, and well below good DVD.

Summary: fantastic!
Review: i currently do not have hbo, but am seriously considering getting it just to watch this show! it is funny, engaging, real, smart and thoroughly entertaining! the story lines are true to life and not sugar-coated...the cast is very believable! if you haven't seen any episodes, do so! quickly!

Summary: So much better than... well, anything else on T.V

So now I'm caught up with the first season, does anyone know when the second season's coming out? Please listen to me people, Buy this DVD... It's great!
