Summary: Good but...
Review: I love the episodes on this disc, but the audio quality leaves much to be desired. Ticks and pops mar each program, not what one expects from DVD. A second copy of the disc displayed the same malady, in identical spots. Popping noises plague the first half of Volume 2 as well. As Cartman might say, "Man, this s***s!"

Review: I'm a huge South Park fan, but I must agree with the previous comment about the video having no sound. I knew the quality of the video would be bad since it's just a simple animation, but I was expecting the hi-fidelity sound that was advertised with the DVD. If it had cost me much more money, I think I would have sued.

Review: Man, I love that thar DVD technology, especially in the case of the 'South Park' DVDs. I get four episodes on a disc, and paid just a little more than what I would've paid for one VHS volume, which has only two episodes, and takes up twice the shelf space. How's that for value and convenience?Anyway, enough gloating. Volume 1, which contains the first four episodes of the series, also includes the show featuring my favorite guest character. No, I'm not talking about Scuzzlebutt, or Kathy Lee Gifford. I mean... Big Gay Al. Yep, 'Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride' introduced me to the most shockingly stereotypical over-the-top portrayal of a homosexual character since Mister Humphries from the BBC sitcom 'Are You Being Served?'. His flamboyance and happy-go-lucky attitude really brightened up the show. And even though he had a significant role in the S.P. movie, I still consider B.G. Al's debut to be his pinnacle performance. He truly is super (thanks for asking) here. I know many of the fans are turned off by the intros featuring the show creators Trey Stone and Matt Parker (whoops), but I don't mind them all that much. Yes, they seem to be reveling a bit too much in their own glory, but I had a few laughs here and there watching the duo discuss their 'favorite' episodes. I guess I'm just not a real fan... oh the shame I bear. 'Late

Summary: Good for what it is. :)
Review: Now ya can't expect too much from a SouthPark DVD, and then you should be pleased with what you get. I enjoined all these episodes and the convenience DVD brings to them, but nothing outstanding here.
Fireside chats between the episodes are nice, but you don't need to watch them as often as the actual episodes.
A good DVD to have in your collection if your a South Park fan.

Review: Okay, well- I'm adding this part to all my South Park Reviews: For this price for four episodes, this is a great deal. I remember buying the VHS versions first (which are split up differently), and feeling I got ripped off on those once I saw how great these DVDs were. I'll review each individual episode the best I can remember now... Cartman Gets an Anal Probe: This apparently took Matt and Trey a couple of months to do because they were still using construction paper cutouts. You could totally tell the animation style shift a little between this pilot episode and the rest of them. But as for the story, it's a classic. Anything story that revolves around Cartman I find pretty funny, and this is no exception. Volcano: Not my favorite episode, but still- it's funny to see Matt and Trey try to make fun of some social concern like hunting for sport. Anyway, cameo by Patrick Duffy. heh heh. Weight Gain 4000: One of the most hilarious episodes of all time. Cartman trys to get all big and buff with this stuff called Weight Gain 4000. It's funny to see Cartman interact with other people and with the TV. Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride: This episode had some incredibly funny moments in it and also introduced a character that many people seem to love- Big Gay Al. He shows up in the Movie too, so if you haven't seen this episode, you really should to get some background info on him.

Review: There was no sound and the video quality was just awful. I can't believe they're selling this for $13.99! The middle ten minutes had a Jerry Springer episode spliced in. Totally obnoxious. I can see why they rated this R. Stay away from South Park.

Review: This DVD had me ROTFL. "Kwitcher bitchin'!" I didn't notice any sound problems. I wish it had been possible to access the episodes directly without having to go through the cheesy commentary. Perhaps the next group of DVDs could be organized better?
