Summary: Classic 80's film
Review: I luurvvvv this film. I could watch it over and over again. Even though I've seen it a dozen times or more I never tire of watching it. Easily Madonna's best acting performance to date (she's essentially playing herself). All the cast work so well together and are all perfectly matched to their parts.
But forget buying the VHS version get the DVD, not only does it have running commentaries from the Director but it also has the original ending for the film on it. In the previews, the audience thought it ended when Madonna's character was sitting in the cinema with her boyfriend, and so they got up and left leaving 10 minutes of the movie to go. So the film makers cut the ending. You'll get to see Madonna in full 80's regalia riding atop a camel! Need I say more.

Summary: A Great Madonna Movie
Review: I remember as a teenager seeing the TV advertisement of this movie, and had been wanting to see it at the theaters, but I never got to. I was a fan of Madonna then, and I am still one now. I finally got to watch it years later on VHS. The 1980s fads and fashions in this movie really brought me back memories, plus it is a very good movie! The punk nightclub scene made me laugh when the bald guy ended up dancing with Roberta's husband who was trying to dance with Madonna. I especially like the twists and turns the characters in this movie brings. I recommend anyone to watch this movie, because it is a very interesting tale and I never got bored watching it, even if you were a 1980s teenager like I was.

Summary: Cool movie
Review: I wasn't too hopeful about this movie because normally Madonna really bugs me when she's in a film as she just seems to be saying, 'Look, I'm Madonna,' all the time. However I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. Madonna and all the other actors were really good (although to be accurate Madonna had an unfair advantage in that she was basically portraying herself) and Rosanna Arquette was perfect for Roberta. The movie had a clever plot although sometimes it got really annoying for instance, when Jim and Des were about to confront Roberta and realise who she really was, and then she'd disappeared. Also I don't think the movie had a bad ending - you expected Roberta to end up with Des and Susan to go with Gary or Jim, and that's what happened. Where's the bad stuff in that? The scenery and music were also really good, very atmospheric without being unnecessarily gloomy. Yeah...like I said, a cool movie.

Summary: Good!
Review: I watched this movie sometime in the 80's and it was good. It is a quirky movie that was entertaining and the cast of Madonna, Rosanna Arquette and Aidan Quinn was great and I highly recommend this movie!

Summary: Not worth buying, unless you're a Madonna fan...
Review: I'm a big Madonna fan, but honestly, I didn't like this movie. It was boring. Madonna is a co-star and I might have liked it more if I got to see more of her in it but I just don't care for Rosanna Arquette's character in the film. The amnesiac storyline is done so many times... Save your money and rent this is you're just looking for a movie to watch. But of course if youre a Madonna fan, then this should be a part of your collection just for the sake of Madonna being in it.

Summary: this movie is fabulous for more reasons than just madonna
Review: I've seen this movie every couple of years or so since it first came out, and it never fails to enchant me. The era that it was made was a fabulous time. Madonna (in full boytoy garb) and Rosanna Arquette (in full wannabe mode) carry this movie, from two opposite sides of hippness, and end up living "happily ever after." The plot envolves amnesia, jewel theives, and romance (of coarse), and there's even a bonus; Into the Groove, THE Madonna song. The sights and sounds bring back an incredibly self indulgent - yet not as scary as today - time period. Eighties, take me away.

Summary: A guilty pleasure from the 80s
Review: I've seen this movie probably about 50 or 60 times. It came out when I was a senior in high school and working at a movie theater that showed one movie at a time. DSS played for about 4 months. Hence, the numerous viewings. The movie has never stopped being funny, sweet, and relentlessly entertaining. I still find this movie a guilty pleasure, and I pop it in whenever I'm feeling down and need a pick-me-up. The cast is great: Aidan Quinn and Rosanna Arquette have great chemistry. Madonna is funny and sexy and at this point still has a real woman's body. Laurie Metcalf (as Becky) is simply superb. This woman is a genius and I'll never understand why she isn't a superstar. She has almost all the best lines in the film, and believe me there are many. Steven Wright makes a hilarious cameo. And look for John Turturro. The plot is as silly as they get, but the writing is sharp with tons of quotable lines. The movie is a time capsule of wonderful vintage 80s junk-chic, complete with soundtrack. Watch it and reminisce.

Summary: you know you love it
Review: If you're reading reviews of this movie, chances are good you've seen it- and seen it many times. This is a fun, quirky film with interesting perfomances all around. Is it groundbreaking or add something to our lives? Heck no! but who cares!

The 'alternate ending' is nothing special. No wonder they cut it. I doubt I will ever take the time to watch the original ending again.

Buy the DVD and listen to the commentary- it is worth the bargain price. The story that one of the producers tells about what an unknown Madonna says to her to get the part is the best dish I've heard on any DVD yet.

The director's voice began to grate on me toward the end, but there is a lot of insight and humor in the commentary- and that IS why we all love DVDs right?

Summary: Fun ;)
Review: It's one of those movies that you love to watch because it's so predictably a happily-every-after...just gets there in a sort of weird, Madonna-esque way. I thought the enjoyment lay in the fun of it all - it's light hearted, silly, and, after all, sweet. And Aiden Quinn was pretty cute back then too... ;)
