Rating: Summary: A charming, old-fashioned style comedy Review: This is the type of comedy I wish were made more often. Two hard on their luck actors, Tucci and Platt, enrage a drunken, ham, Shakespearean actor Jeremy Burmont(played wonderfully by Alfred Molina), and in the ensuing chase, find themselves stowaways aboard a luxury liner bound for Paris and intrigue. The two soon come to realize that Burmont is a passenger and is aware of their presence. In their many failed attempts to hide from their assailant, the two come across a motley population of passengers and crew all of whom have their own little secrets, many of which are worth killing for. There are many clever lines and scenes in this little gem of a film. It's really all very harmless fun with a happy ending to boot. Tucci and Platt make a wonderful team, the former having both written and directed. If you like films like "Some Like It Hot" or "Bullets Over Broadway," I can guarantee you'll truly enjoy "The Impostors." Incidentally, the roster of stars who appear in this film is very impressive; from Woody Allen to Isabella Rosellini. Sit back, relax and be prepared for a journey filled with high jinx and good-natured comedy.
Rating: Summary: Totally hilarious! Review: This movie is so witty and clever, I can't wait to own it. It's a fast-paced, oddball and totally original comedy. Check out Campbell Scott in a completely different (and I might add, hilarious) role, as well as Lili Taylor and Steve Buscemi. You must see it!
Rating: Summary: Funny Review: This movie was very good. It's about two starving actors (Platt, Tucci) who get trapped on an ocean liner. The ship has many odd characters on it... my favorite being Lily, the stewardess, played by Lili Taylor. This movie was was funny and very enjoyable. Rent it, buy it... see it. This will take everyone's problems away.
Rating: Summary: This film made me laugh so hard, I couldn't breath. Review: This was the funniest film I've seen in a long time. It is definately worth watching. I'm just surprised it wasn't more publicized. If you get a chance to rent it, you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Screwball Comedy with a Woody Twist Review: Tucci, one of my favorite (and I think most underrated) actors, does a fine job emulating the styles of Woody Allen and Frank Capra in this homage to the madcap comedies of the 30's. The brisk pacing, snappy dialogue and exaggerated characters make the film a treat.
Dozens of terrific cameo performances by stars like Isabella Rosselini, Campbell Scott, and even the great Woody, himself, are sprinkled throughout. Authentic art-deco sets, costumes and music are pluses as well.
It's the best attempt at the genre in many years, but one still longs for the comedic talent of Hepburn, Lombard or Cary Grant.
