Summary: Sweet Little Romance
Review: I saw this movie when I was about eight and other than a few jokes I was actually laughing with the rest of the theatre. This was the first Cameron Diaz movie I had ever seen and that got me to be a big fan of hers and see all of her movies. The premise is that this girl Julian (Julia Roberts) had this guyfriend and they promised that if they both turn thirty and still have not gotten married to anyone than they would marry each other. Well when Julian is about to turn thirty she call Michael and to her suprise he is getting married next week so she flies in and is trying to stop the wedding so that she can marry Michael not this spoiled little rich girl (Cameron Diaz). I would recommend this to all females and even males out there of all ages over 8 because if you are younger than that than you will only get a handful of jokes if you are around the age of say 13 you should get just about all of the jokes. I hope that this review has helped you if making a choice about this movie!

Summary: Death by minibar!
Review: Romantic comedy: Jules Potter (Julia Roberts) hasn't seen her best friend Michael (Dermont Mulroney)in months, but remembers that she made a blood promise with him that they'd marry by the time they were twenty-eight if they weren't already. Three weeks before her twenty-eighth birthday, she gets a mysterious message from him sounding desperate. So she calls him, expecting a proposal. Instead, he announces that he's met a beautiful girl, Kimmy Wallace (Cameron Diaz), and that they're getting married in five days. Jules wants to be happy...but realizes she may love him herself, and with the help of her other best friend, gay editor George Downes (Rupert Everett), sets off to break up the wedding!

MY TAKE: 5 out of 5 This is a cute and very charming movie. It's different--with the main character being the "bad guy" and (spoiler) her not getting the guy--but refreshing. The casting is world-class, and the acting is wonderful. Cameron Diaz is at her best as the beautiful and hyper Kimmy, Julia Roberts is dark but great as the main character/villain, and Rupert Everett is FANTASTIC and charming as George. But my one complaint is that they made George more desirable than Michael! Throughout the movie I had no idea why Jules was crazy for this seemingly wonderful guy when the only nearly romantic part between them is when he gets the wedding ring off of her finger with saliva. But after only five minutes of watching, you'll fall in love with Rupert Everett and be sorry he's gay. I like the ending, even though it's sort of sad, and even though Mulroney's character is boring and less than cute, this is still a great rental.

Summary: My Best Romantic Comedy on the shelf
Review: This is a great movie. Roberts DOESN'T get the guy--which surprises us, b/c, well, she just always does! Cameron Diaz gives the best performance I have seen. Rupert steals the show. He is hysterically funny! Just a very solidly funny, sweet movie with a great cast.

The chemistry between Roberts and her best friend is smart. It's enough to make us all wonder... will they get together??? Are they meant to be together? Also speaks to the issue of remaining friends with ex's. Are we doomed to always be a tad jealous???

Summary: Laugh out Loud Funny
Review: One of my favorite Roberts movies, and just the way I like her: funny and romantic. The plot is not original but the characters breathe new life into this complex problem of how to steal a man. I loved Diaz, her best role to date if you ask me. The entire movie is a blast, but has an almost disappointing ending.

Great DVD lots of features, great movie, great soundtrack.

Summary: One Of The Best Romantic Comedys In A Long Time
Review: In my opinion this is one of the best romantic comedys in a long time. I rented this with some friends and we made up little jokes along with the movie, so that kind of added on to the jokes. Whenever I think of this movie, 5 scenes leap to mind; The scene where Jules & George pretend they are married , when Kimmies cousin gets her tounge stuck on the ice sculpture, when Jules and Michael dance on the boat (that was kind of sad), and the scene when shes smoking in the hallway. The movie is about Jules a woman whos best friend that she is in love with tells her he is getting married in 4 days, so she rushes to him in attempt to steal him back. The whole time you are rooting for Julia but deep down you know that Michael will choose Kimmie. Even though you feel bad for Jules, this is a great movie

Summary: Roberts is a comic gem
Review: Julia Roberts is the biggest and the brightest movie star of today- this hasn't changed since "Pretty Woman" was released thirteen years ago, but many predicted it two years before that in 1988's "Mystic Pizza." She has all the goods-- something no other actor has.

"My Best Friend's Wedding" is one of the best romantic comedies of the last twenty years-- it's that good! The entire cast, the direction, the script, the music. It's romantic and laugh-out-loud funny. Roberts and Everett were robbed of Academy Award nominations and it remains one of the best performance's of Cameron Diaz's career. Dermot Mulroney is also solid. It makes by-the-numbers formula surprising and irresistible.
