Rating: Summary: Hooray for "What's Up Doc?" Review: This is my second all-time favorite movie (Young Frankenstein will always be Number 1!). Every gag, pratfall, and line is hilarious! The Streisand-O'Neal combination is really great. Terrific performances are turned in by the entire cast, especially the late Madeline Kahn. It's silly and slapstick that will have you roaring with laughter. This is not great ART but really great comedy. This movie was made before comedy became vulgar and nasty. I hope you love it as much as I have all these years.
Rating: Summary: A family friendly flick! Review: Hilarious, original, a true classic! Lots of harmless slapstick the whole family can enjoy. My husband and I loved this movie. Definitely Streisand at her best!

"howard, i am going to count to ten." "mr. larroby it's a priveledge to meet you, sir, i'm dr. howard bannister." "and i'm your head waiter, rudy." "your upside-down" "i know."
Rating: Summary: Gut bustingly funny Review: My mother took me to see this movie when I was a kid and I had always remembered it as one of the funniest movies I had ever seen. So it was with some trepidation that I picked it up in the video store when looking for a movie with my daughter. A lot of the funny movies I had seen as a kid didn't quite have the same magic when I saw them years later on video. I was afraid that this movie wouldn't be nearly as good as I remembered it. Wrong!! I laughed so hard that I was drooling. Everything about this movie is very well done. Plot, dialoge and most of all acting. The cast is superb. They all play it exactly right. Especially Streisand. I really wish she hadn't gotten all serious as she progressed because she is pure genius when it comes to comedy. And as a bonus, this is a movie that you won't be afraid to show to a nine year old kid. Both because it is clean and because nine year olds find it as funny as us old folks.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: This movie was an Easter attraction at Radio City Music Hall back in the days when that was something special. And speaking of something special, so is this film. From the crackling opening title song (Barbra's rendition of "You're The Top" is one of the best things she has ever recorded) throughout every second of this homage to the old screw ball comedies, you can't help but laughing and loving every wacky second of this delightful movie. One historical note of interest: when the movie first played, audiences did not hear Ryan O'Neals response to Barbra's statement: "Love means never having to say you're sorry". That's how loud the audience howls of laughter were when she uttered that line. Well, with the video, you'll hear (and love) every second of this movie.
Rating: Summary: Still Cracks Me Up Review: What's Up, Doc? was shown on Bay Area cable TV a couple of weeks ago, and it still makes me laugh out loud. The car/bicycle/dragon scene is a hoot. Barbra even sings! I too am waiting to buy it on DVD.
Rating: Summary: If Streisand is your cup of tea..your cup will runneth over! Review: This is Barbra's movie all the way. Too bad she feels it is one of the most embarrassing moments of her career. Those of us who love Streisand....know better. This movie is laugh-out-loud damned funny. I first saw it when I was 10 and it was the first time in my life that I truly belly-laughed. 26 years later...I am STILL laughing at it. THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANYMORE. The rest of the cast, including an incredibly funny performance from the dear late-great Madeline Kahn, a completely horrid, but hilarious Kenneth Mars (and his wretched 70's "wig"), and a fantastically funny scene at the end with Liam Dunn playing a judge, are perfectly assembled. The movie truly is a 5 star treat, however, because it is not on widescreen video OR DVD, I held back a star. But, if you don't laugh at this movie, then you must be dead.
Rating: Summary: Whats Up Doc is moa bigga dan butter..... Review: Of ALL the Barbara Streisand movies combined, my ALL time favorite hands down is this classic "Whats Up Doc" I have watched this many times and it seems anew when I see it again and again. It is fun to see the sights of San Francisco and how it was then at the time. Stellar performances especially the debut of Madeline Kahn, there will be no one matching to her comedic talents. I am just wondering when the folks at Warner is going to transfer this gem of a movie on to DVD (hint) (hint) ....oy vey!!!
Rating: Summary: My favorite movie!! Review: WHAT'S UP, DOC? is my favorite movie ever. It's the funniest comedy movie I've ever seen. This movie is wilder than IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD. This movie is chock-full of action, comedy, and a great chase toward the end. If you liked MAD WORLD, you'll love this movie. Every character does something funny in their role. Ryan O'Neil makes fun of his famous line from LOVE STORY. I recommend this to all fans of comedy movies. A++
Rating: Summary: What's Up, Doc? is comedy at it's very best! Review: What's up, Doc?" defined Barbara Streisand and director Peter Bogdanovich. Unfortunately, they didn't produce enough works making this gem an all time classic comedy, one of the ten best ever made. Madeline Kahn (who later joined in as an integral part of Mel Brooks Troope) is introduced in her first feature film as the frumpy bride-to-be opposite Ryan O'Niel in a story which will keep you laughing from the opening sequence to the last line where O'Niel takes a comic jab at his own "heart wrenching" performance in the gushy movie "Love Story" a year earlier. The supporting cast and chemistry throughout is unmatched except perhaps in "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" of the same era. "What's up, Doc?" even includes one of the more original and hilarious chase scenes ever filmed. This is truly "G-type" family entertainment which will last for generations. It reminds us that Hollywood is capable of creating great entertaining works when it wants to. If Streisand is remembered for anything of value (which means ignoring her political views) this film rewards us with the treasure and depth of her comedic talent. In light of her earlier performances it makes us wonder why Streisand ever stopped doing comic roles? Perhaps she wanted an Oscar more than the pure joy given to her audience by making them laugh. She was more gifted than Lucy, Gracy (Allyn) and Ann Southern combined. Streisand will forever be remembered by the left for her quasi communistic views; by the people of her faith for a beautiful film called Yentle; by everyone else for her range, depth, color and tone of voice. But, those of us who love the pure joy of great entertainment will remember Streisand for this film. My children love it and so will their children. Barbara, you have such tremendous talent - please do something like this again!
