Summary: Hits a Brick Wall
Review: This movie had solid momentum until about the 20 minute mark and then it nosedives. It was as if the everyone except George and Catherine went off the set for high colonics and came back giddy. How does a movie get so midguided like this? Especially with such great (potential) chemistry between the two leads and a snappy script with punch in the first Act.
Give me the job of writing the next two acts - I'd do it for free!
I can't recommend anyone investing the time or money. Even if they are on a trans-Pacific flight like the towel bandit below. Nice work - that was 48k times funnier!

Summary: NO
Review: This is the worst movie I have ever seen. I'd give it 0 stars if possible.

Summary: intolerable cruelty
Review: It seems hollywood has ran out of ideas and good script.
this is why Oscar is going to a lot of foreigners.
the script was so poor that if it was not for the names of
the actors, I doubt anybody would want to see it.
Not even funny.my wife fell sleep watching it on DVD.

Summary: OK movie, but disc problems
Review: The movie was really nothing spectacular. Catherine Zeta-Jones, George Clooney and the rest of the cast perform very well. This movie was very enjoyable, however, I won't add it to my collection.

The reason why is the studio making this disc not only puts previews in the beginning of this disc, but there is no "menu" or "skip" button you can use to get past the coming attractions. You are forced to either watch the previews or fast-forward through them EVERY time.

Boo to the studio.

Summary: By no means the Coen brothers best
Review: As a remake, some of the short comings of the script cannot be blamed on the Coens as the original material is plucked from an era when marital humor wasn't so edgy. The intention of Intolerable Cruelty is the typical quirky Coen bro style of humor, the product is something closer to 'cute'. Overall it is not bad a film, just a ho-hum experience. Perhaps it is the acting which falls short on the delivery of the before mentioned quirkiness, somewhat reminiscent of "The Hudsucker Proxy" in which the odd ball characters didn't exactly stray too far into the desired odd ball territory. Also missing is the Coens' stylish camera work and cinematography although it may have been out of place in this type of comedy.

The king of the Coen comedy shall still remain Raising Arizona, but as a rental Intolerable Cruelty is well worth your hard earned $3.

Summary: intolerably too long
Review: the basic plot of the movie was okay, she's impossible to get, and he's determined to get her, but just when it seemed like it was over, there was another twist. the characters were not properly developed and by the last half hour, you're so bored by the length, you don't care if they live happily ever after.

Summary: Fun and Entertaining
Review: Intolerable Cruelty is a fun and entertaining comedy. Catherine Zeta-Jones and George Clooney are cast perfectly opposite eachother. Billy Bob Thornton is also funny in this movie. I recommend this if you are looking for a good comedy to watch.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Great casting but subpar script
Review: At first glance, Intolerable Cruelty looks like a wonderful movie. George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones are both known for their charming, magnetic personalities, as well as their sharp wits. The premise seems good too, a divorce attorney falls for his client's so-to-be ex-wife.
Yet, the movie is somehow lacking. The wonderfully clever moments are there but are too far and few between. There is a bit too much drama at some points which really hinders the light mood of the movie. The result, is a movie that is enjoyable but nothing remarkable and somehow, a little disappointing.

Summary: The title of the movie is actually a warning to viewers!
Review: Yesterday I was on a long return flight to LA from China (don't ask why) and this was the only English language movie sandwiched between Chinese news, a sixties style Japanese (i think) drama, and a French love story dubbed in some indecipherable Asian language.

After about 45 minutes of desperate wrangling with the part of my brain that inhibits the input and processing of crap...I turned it off and woke my friend with a hot used towel to the face. That solitary, poorly recieved act was, in itself, at least 48,000 times more entertaining than half this movie.

I love Clooney (the actor, not the activist), and have really enjoyed Catherine Zeta-Jones. This, not to mention my adoration of movies made by the Coen Brothers (like Fargo and Raising Arizona).

I don't know what happened with this one, but it's dark, entirely un-funny, and in a world full of D- and better media, I recommend avoiding this one.

Hope this was helpful.
