Summary: These are Nihilists
Review: The Coen's tackle Noir in Gulf War-era Los Angeles. It's certainly no Chinatown, and I'm sure James Ellroy probably disapproved, but The Big Lebowski is one charmer of a movie, excluding Jesus the Bowler. Highly underrated, apparently by fans of the Coen Brothers, and perhaps understandably so. John Goodman's acting is ever so forceful, Steve Buscemi's turn as the weak-hearted Donnie is rather limp, and there are too many unanswered questions. But these quirks go by mostly unnoticed, as the sheer novelty of the story and colourful cast of characters should charm the pants of those with a sense of humor - a questionable sense of humor, of course. The Big Lebowski earns the title of Semi-Great Flick, perhaps missing Great Flick status simply because of the power of the Coen's earlier work. It's not quite up there with other Coen classics like Barton Fink or The Hudsucker Proxy, but it's still an original slice of...well, pick your term. It's like a pie in the face: it tastes good, probably smells alright, but it tends to get annoyingly stuck in those hard to clean areas.

Review: This is one of the funniest films I've seen in a long time. Script was hysterical, and casting was perfect. Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Julianne Moore, and John Tutorro were fantastic. Clever, unusaul plot executed wonderully. Special mention has to go to veteran actor Ben Gazara as a sleazy pornographer. I really loved this movie.

Summary: Like totally stupid, man!
Review: Like, the dude, he's such a...like, a dude, man!...Whatever - this movie really stank. The only part I thought was clever was that his only form of ID was a Ralph's card.

Summary: Yet another fantastic flick from the Coen Brothers.
Review: Joel and Ethan Coen have created another modern classic. In a time where dumb and dumber movies abound, the smart, and vastly more entertaining, humor presented here is a welcomed respite. I reccommend The Big Lebowski to anyone who enjoys smart, wildly funny comedies. Certainly one of the years' best films, and an expression of the Coen' brothers' film making prowess. It joins the ranks, along with Fargo, as one of my all-time favorites.

Summary: Bridges outstanding, Goodmen a gem......
Review: If you like laid-back humor, this is one of those hidden gems. It's a film that uses the F-Word every 30 seconds or so, so it's not for everybody. If you like Jeff Bridges, it's worth viewing the dynamics of Bridges in action. Goodmen, also keeps this film alive and kicking as well as funny........

Enjoy

Summary: heh heh...
Review: it's a movie that really isn't about anything...aimless like the dude's life, but funny as hell. The Coen Bros subtly subvert the action/kidnapping genre by setting you up to believe the movie actually has a plot, which seems plausible right up until the end...by the time you realize you've been duped you've watched the whole movie and enjoyed it despite yourself. OK, so I'm not making it sound very good...but it really is a lot of fun....
