Rating: Summary: My favorite teen movie of the 90s Review: In my opinion, this is one of the best teen movies ever made. While the main characters seem somewhat stereotypical at first, all of the characters (well, almost all of them) break down the barriers of high school cliquedom and discover something about themselves and their high school classmates. The whole movie centers around a party on graduation night. Preston (Ethan Embry) has carried a torch for Amanda (the gorgeous Jennifer Love Hewitt) ever since meeting her as a freshman. After four years, Amanda has just been dumped by her jock boyfriend, and Preston is convinced that fate will finally bring him and Amanda together. A series of "signs" convinces him to tell Amanda how he feels about her--this task becomes pretty complicated as the night progresses. Meanwhile, there are other wonderful subplots. Seth Green is hilarious as a jive-talking, would-be playboy determined to find a girl at the party; he ends up stuck in a bathroom with a girl he was good friends with before he tried to join the cool crowd in high school. The obligatory nerd goes to the party with a plan to humiliate Amanda's ex-boyfriend for having picked on him for years, and he ends up becoming the life of the party. His drunken performance of GNR's "Paradise City" is not to be missed. A lot of things happen throughout the movie, but the only person who really comes out a loser is Amanda's ex-boyfriend. As a former nerd, I enjoyed seeing the self-absorbed jock get humiliated, the nerd become temporarily popular, and the shy guy stand a chance of getting the girl. I'm sure some people think the idea of carrying around a letter to a girl for four years is weird or obsessive, but I can attest to the fact that carrying around a secret longing for a person runs deep within the soul and cannot be expected to disappear in such a short time as four years. One feature of this movie I really liked was seeing a yearbook-like biography of each character at the beginning--complete with high school activities, future plans, and a favorite quote. The entire cast is terrific, and I really enjoy this movie every time I watch it. Seth Green, as I have mentioned, is downright hilarious. Hewitt does a wonderful job portraying a prom queen who wants to find someone who will see her for what kind of person she is rather than judge her solely on her looks. Although the movie may sound like typical teenaged silliness to some, the characters do succeed in disproving the often perceived shallowness of the young. If you believe or want to believe in fate, this movie can also be an uplifting experience. As an added bonus, Smash Mouth's video for "Can't Get Enough of You Baby" featuring a dangerously stunning Jennifer Love Hewitt is also included with the movie.

Rating: Summary: Too Brainless To Be Fun Review: "Can't Hardly Wait" is the story of a senior class's blowout bash. It's the class's graduation party that is supposed to see them off to wherever they're headed. The main storyline of the movie is that Preston Meyers (Ethan Embry) wants to finally give a love letter to Amanda Beckett (Jennifer Love Hewitt) that he wrote to her freshman year when he had a class with her. He's been hanging on to it since then and now realizes he may never have another opportunity. Amanda has dated the school jock Mike Dexter (Peter Facinelli) for very near her whole high school career and has just broken up with him at the party. Preston sees this as fate telling him to make his move. Instead of coming off as a lovelorn teenager, Embry's portrayal of Preston seems more like a demented stalker. It's one thing to have a crush on the school's popular girl, it's quite another entirely to carry around a love letter to her for three or four years. Disturbing is the best way to describe it. Besides Preston and Amanda there are other stories to follow in "Can't Hardly Wait". Among them are the trials of Vicki (Melissa Joan Hart) to get anyone to sign her yearbook, the uncomfortable reacquaintence of Denise Fleming (Lauren Ambrose) and Kenny Fisher (Seth Green) in a locked bathroom, and the party crashing gone awry of William Lichter (Charlie Korsmo). The only one of these story lines that is at all appealing is that between Denise and Kenny. They were friends in grade school who drifted apart into their own circles and are now almost strangers. Denise became one of the smart kids and Kenny became a hip-hopper. Seth Green being the talent that he is breathes a little life into an otherwise hopeless movie. However, there is far too little of him in the movie to save it. "Can't Hardly Wait" is a teen genre movie of the worst kind. It's one that doesn't respect it's audience or think it has much of a brain. Unlike the John Hughes's movies of the mid-80s, which actually challenged the viewers a bit, "Can't Hardly Wait" wants to make things easy for the viewer. What comes out of that is a stew of unreality and unlikeableness that insults the mind of its teenage audience.
Rating: Summary: Grads, Jocks, and Nerds; Oh My Review: It is that time of year again, as High School seniors prepare for that timeless right of passage...The Graduation Party. This is the set up for CAN'T HARDLY WAIT. Its young cast includes Jenniffer Love Hewitt, Ethan Embry, Lauren Ambrose, and Seth Green, among others. The movie is, for the most part, a by the numbers excercise. As is typical, for most films like this, many of the characters are very poorly fleshed out, and predictable. I am not saying that they need to be as well written as Hamlet, but for films like this this to work, you have to care about these people. Afterwards, I saw no person that I wanted to know more about. The cast is certainly likeable enough, but the script seems to be filled with leftover dialogue from every other teen flick from the last decade. Co-Directors Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont do all right as those in charge. I just wish things weren't so predictable. As for the extras on the DVD: the commentary is suprisingly pretty good. It also has a Smash Mouth music video and a photo gallery from the movie. The viewer has the option of watching the film in widescreen or the pan and scan format. There's not much to go on, I recommend the DVD with reservations and only if you are a fan of its cast
Rating: Summary: Best High School Graduation flick Review: "William, you can get drunk...", "I've got no legs..." "Why do you'all have to waste my flavor?" "Mandy was written about his dog." "No, it wasn't Mandy, was about a girl named Amanda, this is a sign, it is my destiny". "I was sitting in class enjoying a late breakfast and out of all the classroom she walks into mine, and where does the teacher sit her? Right next to me. Up until now I thought it was all coincidntal but then she took out a Strawberry pop tart the very same breakfast pastery that I was consumming, how was I to go on? How was I suppose to proceed?" These are just some of our more funny remarks made throughout the movie. This is a cute after-graduation movie that connects the graduating class together in an after-graduation party. The best part was the geek of the class gets to be the life of the party (at least for one night). It doesn't have much substance, but it is a fun, easy-going movie with a lot of humor, fate and destiny.
Rating: Summary: I Can't Get Enough of this Movie...Yes it's True Review: Can't Hardly Wait is an addicting teen film that moves quickly and delightfully through it's funny situations and plot lines, deriving its theme from none other than sex, drugs, and rock and roll. The film is set at a graduation party of a high school, complete with all the stereotypical high school personalities we all know and love. The compelation of characters with varied and accentuated personality traits, or labels if you will, is the film's strongest point. the characters include: the handsome jock ready for college frat life (Peter Facinelli), the innocent prom queen (Jennifer-Love Hewitt), the tormented nerd thristing for revenge (Charlie Korsmo), the player hiding behind his cool clothes and orange goggles (Seth Green), the hopeless outcast (Lauren Ambrose), the low profile intelligent absorbed by his love for a beautiful girl (Ethan Embry), the overly zealous yearbook signer (Melissa Joan Heart), and plenty more, appropriately personifying the unforgettable rush that is one's high school experience. This film is funny and enjoyable, illustrating with style the bonds and relationships between the characters. It's one that you will want to watch again and again, especially when you hear that one Guns and Roses song. Take me down to the paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty...come on and please take me ho-me...
Rating: Summary: Teenie Bopper Review: "It was a very indulging movie that kept me laughing!"
Rating: Summary: Tomorrow's the future....tonight's the PARTY!! Review: Can't Hardly Wait is a great example of teen entertainment. Its fits all the criterior of a good teen flick. The movie is jam packed with great actors and plenty of cameos. The night is totally different for each student as they go in pursuit of fun. Jennifer Love Hewitt plays Amanda Beckett - she's the most popular girl at school but has recently broken up with the hottest guy at school. This party could mean disaster! Jennifer Love Hewitt is good playing roles like this - she has the ability to pull off that popular girl or that pretty and innocent girl character. Ethan Embry is great as Preston Myers - he's been in love with Amanda for 4 years since freshman year. He goes to the party hoping for all his dreams to come true. A great character that everyone loves at high school. Ethan plays Preston with such perfection. preston is really passionate and in some ways different to the jocks and hard nuts at school - Embry gives Preston depth and humour. Anyone would fall in love with his kindness and down to earth exterior. Lauren Ambrose plays Denise Fleming - she's a bit of an outcast and best friend of Preston. This party could mean yet more ignoring her or her luck could change! Ambrose plays Denise with such humour and gives her a restrictive manner - she stays away from people and wishes she was elsewhere. Peter Facinelli plays Mike Dexter - the hottest guy in school and ex boyfriend of Amanda. He believes that in college there will be real women...but will he find out otherwise and regret breaking up with Amanda. Facinelli plays Mike with total class and makes him a real jock like guy. Charlie Korsmo plays William Litcher - the geek of the school...enter X Files/internet/model making guy. He goes to the party hoping to get revenge on Mike Dexter...will it work? Korsmo gives William such a geeky exterior but when the real party starts makes him cool and hip. Theres a geeky guy in every school. Can't Hardly Wait will gurantee a night of fun and entertainment. Sit back and watch as they go to the biggest party of their lives!!
Rating: Summary: I CANT GET ENOUGH OF YOU BABY! Review: I love this movie! Especially Seth Green-and Ethan Embry. I hate that Jennifer Love Hewitt-she just cant act. The movie is about this big graduation party-where Embry wants to give this girl a letter-then he throws the letter away-she gets it and they get togther at the end. I think that Seth Green looks really good with black hair. I wish it was black in Rat Race. And Jenna Elfman was pretty cool as that angel dancer who gives Ethan words of advice to try again to get in touch with his dream girl. I still do not own this movie-I just took it from my sister. But someday I will own it! That Smashmouth music video at the end of the movie is pretty cool too. I would recommend this movie to anyone who feels like partying!
Rating: Summary: Funny but seriously immature. Review: I love Seth Green, and Jennifer Love Hewitt in most movies because they are such fun but this movie was so pathetic. The only thing I really liked was when those two "geeks" were sitting on top of the roof and playing with their flashlights, when that other "geek" said that the stars were god's salt and he was waiting to eat us, the part where the one "geek" is singing that song on the stage (he's so drunk!) and that crazy girl with the scissors "You're all sheep. BAAAHH!". I love that part... But the movie isn't the funniest I have ever seen and I was seriously dissapointed. If you are going to make a comedy it should be stomach aching funny not "heh heh heh" funny. The entire bathroom part was boring, along with anything to do with that guy obsessed with Mandy. The "geeks" were just hilarious.
