Summary: Disgrace
Review: Okay first of all, im not one of those people that think it sucked just because the original stars wasnt in it...but thats a start. The movie was so predictable and had such obvious humour its sad. the actors made the humour in the first movie..the jokes made it in the second one. they made lloyd and harry over the top stupid in the second..it was just a disgrace.

Summary: Luckily I saw the original first...
Review: *Exasperated sigh.*

The first time I'd watched this movie I had only seen 25 minutes worth, since I came in on it late. But I kept going back to see it because I'd never seen the whole thing completely, and was at the time excited about it because of how much I'd loved the original.

And I must say that I was very disappointed by it all.

For one the actor they picked to play Lloyd I think did an "OK" job, they did a rather great fixing him up to look like Jim Carrey, and that was perhaps the most impressing thing in the movie. On the other hand the Harry did an awful job. I mean not only did he not remind me of Jeff Daniels Harry at all, he annoyed me to no end.

The plot is probably the most pathetic thing about it all, I mean the original movie FOCUSED on Harry and Lloyd, and all this prequel did was go back and forth from Harry and Lloyd, to the classmates, to the Principal and Lunch Lady. And I just couldn't help, but wondering why it was necessary to have all these characters, and why exactly the plot needed them. I thought most of that was a complete waste. Which in turn made the plot meaningless.

Sad to say, I cannot give this film just one star because I actually liked Eric Christian Olsen's performance, and I ADORE Cheri Oteri no matter what.

Therefore I give it two stars, because there ARE some funny scenes in the beginning, but if you're the kind of person who's going into it expecting the perfect remake, laugh out loud funny from beginning to end, and something you'll want to watch over and over, you WILL be disappointed.

Summary: About as bad as a movie can get
Review: I'm posting this review not because I want to add another 1 to the rating of Dumb and Dumberer, but rather because I actually had to pay a couple of bucks to rent the movie (don't ask me why, I just had to see why everyone hated it). If you seen this movie, the good news is that you probably would have a hard time seeing worse.

The first Dumb and Dumber was a pretty funny movie, and they didn't have to be so offensive in the process. Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels were able to make the characters work mainly because they had a plot and a knack for taking something and making it humorous. There was enough substance to actually make a scene have a comic effect. It looks like they should have left well enough alone, and forgot the prequel.

I don't know what they were possibly thinking making this film; it failed in every single respect as a comedy. This movie is insulting, shallow, tasteless and unfunny all at the same time. It really lacked much of a plot also, as the idea of the principal choosing these guys to try to form a class is absurd. The movies really had no direction and no hope. The actors who play Lloyd and Harry look pretty much the same as Jeff Daniels and Jim Carey, but the dialogue is amateurish and petty. There is absolutely nothing funny about this movie, and, like me, you may turn the movie off after 30 minutes or so.

I don't say this often about movies, but this one should come with a refund.

Summary: Avoid at all costs!
Review: I'm going to get right to the point -- this movie is terrible. As a big fan of Dumb and Dumber, I decided to rent this prequel. I didn't expect it to be that great, but I didn't think it would be this bad. The whole thing is like an immature, stupid gag that's supposed to be funny. After watching it, you think, "I can't believe I spent an hour and a half watching that nonsense." I saw this movie with two other people and they felt the same way.

The only redeeming quality about Dumb and Dumberer is Eric Christian Olsen's dead-on impersonation of Jim Carrey. Everything he did in Dumb and Dumber, Eric perfected in the prequel. He did a great job of playing a young Lloyd Christmas, but even that does not make this movie worthwhile.

Summary: Dumb and Dumberer--the name fits the movie
Review: I can not believe that any mentally sane person would actually care about this movie or god-forbid sit through the mind-numbingly painful (...) they call the script. Yes, it's that bad. I was praying for the sweet release of death about half way through the movie, and by the end I remember my eyes and ears were almost bleeding because it was that bad. This movie should be called 'retard and retardeder' so the name would describe the movie's fans. Its official; Troy Miller (the director) *can* wreck a good movie. People who see this movie will instantly think that it and the original dumb and dumber were both stupid, when the original one was way better and is one of my ten favorite movies. Yeah, the actors might look like the older Harry and Lloyd, but I didn't notice that during the movie because I vaguely recall passing out from lack of intellectual stimulus in my brain. I admit I laughed at the movie. NOT!! The best part of the movie was when it was over. If the movie had one laugh in it at all, then that laugh would have died of loneliness. At 96 minutes, it was 96 minutes too long.

Summary: superb in comparison to the 1st unfunny D&D
Review: I couldn't believe it when I first saw this movie at how hilarious it was it keep me falling off my chair in laughter.
So funny was this movie that I couldn't take a hold of myself for a while. This was indeed a great come back from the shameful, mindless, and so stupid first dumb and dumber.
Here the actors playing the roles of Harry and Lloyd are without a doubt much better actors than Daniels and Carry ever were. I highly recommend this movie instead of the first boring one

Summary: First One Is Funnier
Review: This low-budget crash sequel won't really make you laugh nor will it make you think how real it is. Dumb and Dumber was funnier, and more people liked it. Dumb and Dumberer hit theaters, but the box office results said ti was last of the list. The critique was * out of *****, which means must-avoid. Eric Christian Olsen, who is unrecognizable, didn't do very good, and the first-timer, who played Harry, was the worst. If he wants to get director's attention, he should have starred in another movie.

Review: Two words boring and stupid.

Summary: Give it a chance, it's actually a funny movie!!!!
Review: When this movie flopped in movie theaters I thought this movie was terrible. Then I read some of the reviews and still thought I should not see this movie. I happened to find a copy of this movie at my local library, and decided to take a chance. This movie really surprised me. I found it funny, but I also know this is not the type of movie I could watch over and over again like I do Dumb and Dumber. So I won't be adding it to my DVD collection. This movie is the prequel to Dumb and Dumber.

The movie shows how Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas meet. We also find out why Lloyd has his chipped tooth. The side story is the Principal and the lunch lady (Cheri Oteri) embezzling $100,000 that was meant for a special needs program. Principal Collins (Eugene Levy) wants to use the money to buy himself a condo in Hawaii. Harry and Lloyd are asked to recruit the special needs students for the program. Lewis is the school mascot for the school football team. Turk sho is the class bully, Carl the crazy football player, Toby there is nothing wrong with him, but because he has a cast on his foot, he qualifies. The last student is named Ching Chong who plays a dumb downed student to get boys. I felt the Ching Chong name was a little over the top, and I know some people found that to be offensive. Jessica Mathews is the school reporter, and she smells a story, and knows that Harry can help her. Lloyd convinces Harry that she has the hots for him, and he thinks he will score.

There are some laughable moments, and some that were just silly. Lloyd using ketchup and mustard to leave a note on the gym floor for his father to read. The movie used an actual "short bus". Bob Saget really made the movie. He is hilarious!!!! Bob Saget plays the uptight father to Jessica. Harry goes to Jessica's house and he ends up melting his chocolate bar when he sat on the radiator. Melted chocolate + a clean bathroom equals a scene that is gross, but very, very funny. When Jessica's father walks into the bathroom he starts to scream and cuss up a storm, and I ended up on the floor clutching my stomach from laughing so hard. Hearing him cuss was a riot!!! When Bob Saget screams "What is it with you and fecal matter", at the end of the movie I could not stop laughing.

The store clerk is quite funny also. I found the embezzling plot to be kind of dull. The DVD has a ton of extras for people who enjoy that type of option.

The actors that play Harry (Derek Richardson)and Lloyd (Christian Olsen) were quite good, and played the parts just as well as Jim Carrey (Lloyd) and Jeff Daniels (Harry) did in the original. In fact I think that Christian Olsen played Lloyd perfectly. He mimicked Jim Carrey's moves, and facial expressions so well, I kept thinking I was watching Jim himself. I think this movie should be given a chance, it will surprise you. The movie serves it's purpose. It's dumb, but it's also funny.

This is a decent movie and it's worth watching at least once. Instead of going by the negative reviews I say rent this movie for yourself and form your own opinion. You may find you are pleasantly surprised.
