Summary: Let the Healing Begin
Review: Jack Nicholson drives Adam Sandler mad in the hilarious hit comedy "Anger Management". An awkward incident aboard an airplane lands mild-mannered Dave Buznik (Adam Sandler) in the caring hands of anger management guru Dr. Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson). Rydell's unorthodox treatment releases Buznik's hidden rage to confront the people who pushed him around. Though not a comic masterpiece, "Anger Management" is certainly a solid, crowd-pleasing romp. Adam Sandler and Jack Nocholson have great on-screen chemistry and deliver some surprising funny momments. The supporting cast includes Marisa Tomei, John Turturro, Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly as Buznik's childhood nemesis. The story is quite enjoyable but slows down by the end. "Anger Management" DVD has definate potential. The movie is presented in a 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen format. The DVD contains a sharp and detail picture quality and a clear 5.1 digital sound. The special features include an audio commentary by Sandler and Director Peter Segal, behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes and some clever animated menus. Overall, some outrageous comic highlights and a great picture transfer earns "Anger Management" DVD a "B".

Summary: Good Actors and a Clever Idea Turned Into a Mediocre Film
Review: Dave Buzick (played by Adam Sandler) creates an incident during an airline flight and gets sentenced by a judge to anger management therapy. The therapist is Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson), who the audience soon discovers is an egomaniac with issues of his own. There are wonderful cameos by several members of the therapy group, and Marisa Tomei is charming as Linda, Dave's long suffering girlfriend who is continually trying to improve his self esteem. We even have Rudy Guiliani and several members of the New York Yankees in crucial roles as guest stars. This movie has some truly hilarious moments, really comedic incidents and unexpected developments to keep the theatergoer interested. The idea was quite clever, and the cast is talented enough to pull it off. But neither the script or the direction lived up to the idea's promise. It had the potential to be five stars, but only rated as high as three stars because of the truly enjoyable last half hour and the very clever and quite cute surprise ending. Why was I so disappointed? The beginning was very contrived, and a lot of the supposedly funny situations early in the film were quite strained and unbelievable. Nicholson is superb within the limits of the script, and carries the early part of the movie with Sandler as his straight man. It also moved slowly on occasion, a serious problem for a comedy. Most disappointingly, a story with this much comic potential did not need the continued attempts at humor through sexual innuendo, crude jokes and generally off color material that occasionally was truly humorous but just as often contributed nothing of substance to the story and at times actually detracted from it. It seemed as if the scriptwriters often decided that it was easier to go for cheap laughs than make the effort to be really funny. So, if you like the stars of this film and want to laugh without having to exert any effort having to think deeply for a few hours, you will find this film a satisfactory diversion and will leave the theater smiling and feeling good about the conclusion and the truly funny sequences that did occur. But if your expectations are high and you want to think as well as laugh, then see BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM instead. It has humor, romance, a real story, sports and is incredibly well acted and directed.

Summary: Fairly amusing
Review: Spoilers ahead! Sandler's character gets bullied around cause he directs his anger inwards instead of expressing it when appropriate. This is also why he gets anger management treatment. First lesson: anger management is not only about choleric but also about people who are unable to let out their anger and thus are in danger of to freaking out some day. I think overall the humor was nice and sometimes intelligent. Unfortunately it becomes obvious very soon that the therapy is an elaborate ploy to get Sandler to express his emotions. At first I liked how the movie showed Sandler expressing more and more emotions, letting his anger out but what was subtle in the beginning gets predictable and obvious very soon.
Also I never thought for a second that "Buddy" is really hitting on Sandler's girlfriend or that he tries to steal Sandler's idea for proposing. Talking about Buddy - Jack Nicholson's performance really held the movie together, I really liked his acting in this movie, some funny stuff here. The supporting characters were nicely done although John Turturro's character and those other two wackos were bothersome. I liked the cat and John McEnroe's cameo a lot btw... Oh and don't mind the suspense of disbelief, like how the girlfriend pays for this treatment, but when watching comedies, you should always leave your sense for in-movie-realism outside. What I liked about this movie was that it doesn't rely on creating humor through embarrassment all the time like many other awkward Sandler-flicks do. I really don't like this type of humor. Unfortunately the ending is totally overdone and disgustingly corny. It really spoiled the movie for me. All in all I give this movie 5 points out of 10 (because of the bad ending). If you haven't seen the movie yet and like Sandler/Nicholson/Comedies rent the DVD and grab some popcorn, you'll have an entertaining hour and a half. No more, no less.

Review: I had big expectations for a movie that included two good actors: Adam Sandler & Jack Nicholson, but this movie was a big let down. The movie got funny until after 20 minutes and they showed some pretty stupid stuff (And I like stupid stuff!): lesbians stapling one of their mouth closed, the guy from cheers acting as a cross-dresser!, hurting a budhist and making fun of his retarded sister!, telling a woman that he is expolding in his pants and she says thats "too cute!", how much lame crap can you stuff into a movie! Don't bother watching this unless you want to see a sick movie and you are over the age of twelve.

Summary: Anger Management needs Sex Management
Review: This has got to be one of the worst movies I've ever watched. I should've known better then to watch it because I don't like stupid comedy which means that I don't generally watch Adam Sandler movies but this looked good in the trailers. Too much dumb sexual humor. I don't recommend anybody watch this unless you really love Adam Sandler & dumb sex humor. Waste of my time.

Summary: I feel Pretty, I feel Pretty and witty and bright.....
Review: This was a very funny movie and fun to boot. The twists in the movie were somewhat surprising. You could not help but know something was afoot, yet the bringing together of Nicholson and Sandler was definately funny. There was a little too much inuendo for this movie lover and there seemed to be an obsession with on the edge issues, not mainstream enough. Yet, the movie, the idea and the acting made me laugh. There is one scene where Jack is angry at someone and their car and he brings out a golf club alla his famed incedent in Los Angeles. Yet the outcome is even funnier. This movie is fun to watch and okay to own.

Summary: An Overload Of Anger
Review: Conventional wisdom offers, that the teaming of Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler, should be able to make for a great film. Unfortunately, in reality, "wisdom" only musteres up an average movie, in the end. After a misuderstanding aboard a crowded airplane, mild mannered Dave Buznik (Sandler, is ordered by the court, to seek anger management help from the ecentric Dr. Buddy Rydell (Nicholson). What starts off as a pretty simple task for Dave to finish, instead of going to jail, is compilcated by Rydell's take over of Dave's life. Directed by Peter Segal, the film has a few problems that prevent it from living up to its promise. The funniest scenes with Nicholson and Sandler were put into the trailer. Marissa Tomei is wasted here playing Sandler's girlfriend. There are just too many cameos--one or two would have been fun-but this many just served to bog down the film. And prehaps the biggest problem, is the fact the supporting cast, John Turturro, Luis Guzman as Dave Buzznik's fellow therapy patients and John C. Reilly as Dave's high school bullly now a Monk are more fun to watch than the leads. Never a good sign. The DVD commentary by Sandler and Segal is a descent enough track for a film like this. There are four deleted scenes that were wisely cut from the film. The 2 featurettes: "My Buddy, Jack" and the "Skull Session" provides for some on set fun, more than the "gag reel" does. "Do You Have Anger Problems?" set-top game and a series of Sandler/Nicholson film's theatrical trailers (including Anger Management) round out the extras on the disc. Great potential is wasted by Sandler and Nicholson working in familiar territory in this film. If you must--I can "manage" to recommend--though only as a rental

Review: This movie was a lot worse than I thought it would be, I mean, with Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler. It is about Dave Buznik (Sandler) who is afraid to kiss his girlfriend Linda (Marisa Tomei) in public, and when asking for headphones on an airplane, he is accused of not being able to control his anger. He is sent by the judge (Lynne Thigpen, who died just weeks before the movie came out) to Dr. Buddy Rydell (Nicholson), who, after Buznik interferes with a fight between his 'Anger Buddy' (John Turturro) and a tough guy, decides to live with him. Rydell has unorthidox techniques including making his patients sing "I Feel Pretty" from the West Side Story. Buznik gets pretty creeped out, but must deal with Rydell or else he will be sent to jail. Also in this movie are Woody Harrelson as a cross-dresser, Heather Graham as a former patient of Rydell's, John C. Reilly (who skyrocketed to fame this year) as a monk/Buznik's childhood nemesis, and Rudy Guiliani as himself. It was a pretty good movie, but had that whole concept from I Spy where one person turns out to be good, then bad, then good, then bad, etc. Overall, this movie is a 4 out of 5 star rating in my opinion.

Summary: Tension Reliever
Review: I just love this movie. The premise and format is interesting and funny, even after watching it at least 10 times. Jack Nicholson was a perfect fit for the off-the-wall character, Dr. Buddy Rydell, even if Mr. Nicholson felt it a bit of a stretch himself. I like Adam Sandler's movies anyway, and this one was no different.

Summary: Dull and uninspired comedy
Review: As you may have gathered from the title of my review, I did not enjoy this film at all. This is becouse of two main things - Adam Sandler's performance, and the lack of anything really funny or fresh throughout. Sandler seems capable of doing nothing more than whining to get laughs - to the point where he becomes almost painfull to watch. His character comes across as utterly pathetic and wooden, rather than unlucky, and many of the jokes rely of you feeling sympathetic towards him.
The film could still have worked well despite this, but where it really falls down is the dull, basic humour repeated again and again in an attempt to get laughs - it works for the first 10-15 minutes, until you realise the whole film is based on the same joke. As a result, I felt like I was watching a Carry-on film, with the same simple-minded toilet humour and sight gags throughout.
The film's only really good point is Jack Nicholson - he has some genuinely funny lines, and acts his part brilliantly. At no point did I feel that Nicholson and Sandler really connected on screen however, and many of Nicholson's great lines are ruined by Sandler's barely audible, whimpering performance. There are times when the two stars seem to work well together though, a scene in which the pair confront monk is particularly well written and acted. Other than Nicholson and the occasional high point, however, there is nothing really funny here - the same jokes are repeated, Sandler's character seems to almost disappear entirely by the end, and the plot is unbelievable at best, but more often just frustrating.
Overall, many people will enjoy this film, but I doubt it is something that you will be able to watch more than once. Jack Nicholson is excellent, but the really funny scenes are few and far between. There are similar films that have been done much better - 'There's Something About Mary', or 'Road Trip' for example - I recommend you avoid this.
