Summary: "Life Moves Pretty Fast"
Review: Ferris Bueller's Day Off should be manditory viewing for any high schooler. It is the authoritive refrence that, even here in 2003, perfectly captures the essence of high school life. I've talked to people who condemn this movie for promoting dishonesty, ditching, laziness, etc... etc... I wholeheartedly disagree. This movie helps drive home the need to appreciate the good things in life. Best friends, family, a beautiful day, the community where you live... These things are all precious and never should they be taken for granted.
Buy this movie, and watch it whenever you find yourself taking your life to seriously. Admit it, from time to time we all identify with Cameron. Take a stand! Buy this movie!

Summary: Pure 80's Fun!!
Review: This is a really fun movie which can be safely viewed by pretty much any one. By now you probably know the plot line from the other reviews.
In the grand tradition of 80's movie DVD's, we are left with little special features apart from talkovers with John Hughes throughout the film (optional feature)
The acting is all well represented as well as the script. Remember, it is just a teen movie so don't expect too much!!
The is a great work movie - meaning you can play this whilst doing desk work, or home work etc and still able to follow the plot.

Summary: Must Have! (if you are a product of the 80's)
Review: I grew up in the 80's and couldnt wait to get this on dvd. The 5.1 sound makes it sound even better. Of course the computer technology that Ferris is "hacking" is funny to look at now... it was cutting edge at one time. The dvd version is great and if you are a product of the 80's like me.. then you must get this one!!

Summary: A genuine cult classic
Review: Along with The Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink, the 80's teen movie craze also spawned Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The story is deceptively simple, with Ferris (Broderick) bunking off school with his girlfriend Sloane and best friend Cameron and spending a wild day in New York city. Convinced he's faking it, Ferris' headmaster and sister are desperate to uncover him.This is the kind of movie that makes you wish that the lives on screen were your lives. Who wouldn't want to press their faces against the glass of the Empire State Building, drive around in a Ferrari or, more importantly, sing Twist and Shout on top of a float accompanied by a marching band? These are moments that you wished defined your own life and this is helpful because Ferris' philosophising about not missing out on life would have come off as ridiculous otherwise. For pretty much everyone who's seen this as a kid they will tell you that it affected them in the same way. The themes of friendship, love and what it is to be a teenager have nowhere been so universally evoked. As Ferris, Broderick is perfectly cast. Smug, fun-loving and above everything else cool, he's that thing that very few movies seem to have these days - a character you can identify with. If you like this then it's a fair bet you watched it when you were a teenager. Ferris Bueller is pretty much a shared experience that you won't be able to explain why it's so, for want of a better word, cool. Only teenagers will get it and maybe that's the way it should be. It hasn't lost its sparkle, the ageing audience can't identify with it anymore. Even better than The Breakfast Club, there's a good reason why this movie has entered to cultural consciense.

Summary: Enjoyable!
Review: I don't like this movie as much as I used to, I still like it but it's a movie I can only watch once in a while and not all the time because I get a little bored with it. Matthew Broadrick and Alan Ruck (from Spin City) are both good and my favorite characters and I also liked Jennifer Grey as Ferris' sister Jeanie and Mia Sara as Ferris' girlfriend Sloane and of course I really liked Charlie Sheen in his brief scene with Jennifer Grey and this is a good movie but not one I can watch all the time and not get bored.

Summary: Ferris Bueller's Day is Done
Review: There are some classic scenes in this film, but over time, the movie as a whole has lost its charm. Review it again and you'll know when and where the film falls. This reviewer hates the scene when the two punks...er.. car attendants take a joy ride with Cameron Frye's(Alan Ruck -SPEED, SPIN CITY) Dad's prized sports car after he has just handed the keys over to them to park the car. Then, of course, when the car falls out of the house and into a ravine. Now, was that necessary in this upbeat movie. Okay, okay, everything else is great. However, Jeffery Jones' performance as principal Ed Rooney doesn't hold up after multiple viewings. Yet, who can forget Ferris (Matthew Broderick) lipsinking Wayne Newton's signature song "Danke Schoen" and the Beatles' version of "Twist and Shout" during the parade and Charlie Sheen's classic cameo scene with Jennifer Grey. A modern day ROMAN HOLIDAY type movie which is deemed a classic with great location shots (i.e. Wrigley Field) and good production values, and a hot looking and young Mia Sara... but watch it in bits and pieces. Note: Paul McCartney was quoted as being annoyed when they added a brass section to "Twist and Shout" when the parade band was playing along with the song.

Summary: Shake it baby now !!
Review: I originally saw this movie on June 27th 1986 when I graduated from High School and loved every second of it. This is the kind of movie that I have quoted scenes from to my friends ever since. And while the story forces you to distend belief quite a bit, the central focus should be something we all take to heart; That is "If you don't stop to enjoy life every once in a while, you might just miss it."

Summary: Good ol' flick from the eighties
Review: This movies is probably one of my best memories from the eighties, (other than legging's. I really miss them.) Pretty much the entire cast is made up of stars you'd recognise today, -Matthew Broderick, Charlie Sheen, Alan Ruck(Spin City), Jennifer Grey(Dirty Dancing),Ben Stine(He does that boring professor on Visine commercials).
Ferris Bueller is a popular high school kid who decides to play hooky and has a memorable day of it. The events that occur and the things he gets away with during this day are laugh-out-loud hilarious, and will definately make any one smile. This film is a classic that you'll want to own to play at parties or dull nights in the dorm. Even if you didn't remember the eighties or hated them, I'm sure you'll at least appreciate this product from that decade.

Summary: Classic movie, incredible DVD
Review: As a child of the late nineties, I just discovered this recently. It's a great comedy, the only teen comedy I've seen that walks the line skillfully between being prude and moralistic, or an all-out grossfest. It's fun without being silly. Two hours of pure joy of life, even if it is firmly rooted in the 80's and slightly aged. The DVD is one of the few best I've seen, and I have a very good display and eye for this. Apart from characteristically aged colors and a few specks, the video is asonishingly sharp, almost as good as HDTV, and right on par with the very best Superbit titles. It's a real treat to see the gardens or the overhead Chicago shots. The audio, while not as superlative, is also good; it lacks a few extras, but the sheer quality of the transfer makes up for it. Surprising for a movie almost 18 years old.

Review: This really is a great film directed by the brilliant and
underated "John Hughes" who has been involved with other great films like "Uncle Buck", "Home alone 1&2", "the great outdoors" and "the breakfast club". Wasnt he also involved with "planes trains and automobiles"? Yet, they only remember speilberg when it comes to classics...
This movie is so funny the first time you see it. The second time its kinda funny, but no matter how many times you watch it, the movie will entertain you! It has great replay value and you get you'r moneys worth. Also "John Hughes" gives you his commentary and reveals some interesting things!
if you like matthew broderick, I recommend "the cable guy"
