Summary: Betty and Veronica gone Anime/"Street Fighter II"
Review: The story, what little there is, focuses on two high school girls whom fight daily in no hold back matches for the friendship of another girl. Sounds ridiculous just wait now we throw in a alien race that kidnaps the girl the other two are fighting over and all hell breaks loose. Stupid, yes, but god it is one of the funiest anime's I have ever seen. Not since "Bastard! " or "City Hunter" I have I ever laughed so hard. The animation is o.k. and theso are the voices. The music is pretty good, though I have heard better. The laughs... "Priceless"! Warning this series contains Nudity, Violence, and some Strong Language. Recomended age is 15 and up.

Summary: A wickedly HILARIOUS take-off of the usual anime kartoon!
Review: A great way to introduce yourself to the whole crazy world of Japanese animation, otherwise known as "anime". Here Project A-Ko makes fun of itself: lots of oversized robot warriors, explosive violence, exaggerated action, alien invasion, and of course, those fun-loving girlies with huge jewel-like eyes, multi-colored hair, and why not? ...the usual cute sailor-style uniforms with the flaring pleated skirt and the perky red ascot at the heaving young bosom!

Here in the story, our young heroine, A-Ko with the fiery red hair takes advantages of her superstrength and her blonde friend C-Ko's persistent urging to make it to the school at the very last moment one morning. This is where the great eye-popping anime drama unfolds: a few certain characters like the filthy-rich B-Ko with her strange hairdo and a gorilla-like spy from the outer space are increasingly interested in the babbling infant like C-Ko despite her silly behavior and bad cooking. Thus A-ko finds herself a reluctant protector to her best friend and had to fight off a whole line of towering robots that the brainy B-Ko had so rapidly invented. And in the meanwhile, a shady queen of the alien warfare is hatching a sly scheme to GRAB the innocent young C-Ko and make off with her for ... a very surprising reason.

A very rollicking trip so full of rib-tickling visual gags, white-knuckled action, and plenty of subtle suggestions like B-Ko's obvious lesbian love for the little C-Ko in the name of "friendship" as well as such naughty shots of A-Ko's snow-white undies as she fights fiercely to kick some big robot's behind and grip her poor fingernails onto the smooth surface of a zooming jet as it flew kamikaze-type toward the monstrous alien spaceship! You'll be giggling nonstop!

Summary: GIRL FIGHT TONITE!
Review: This is one of the first and best Japanese amime movies I found, back in 1991... or something. I just LOVE B Ko, she is a stud! This movie combines great fighting with a very Japanese plot. I think C Ko is the scariest thing I have ever seen. KAWAIIIIIIIIIII!

Summary: An Instant clasic
Review: I have watched many Anime videos, and Project Ako is an instant clasic. The soundtrack is truly invigrating with that eighties style that newer anime can not copy. This anime is very origonal a girls fight and a star battle collieding.

Summary: Great movie with good satirical qualities
Review: This anime is very comedic and is often viewed as a satire of all anime up to that time. However, it does have a plot of its own.

The main setting is an all-girls school where the heroine, A-ko, and her best friend, C-ko, is confronted by B-ko who wishes to break up their friendship and take C-ko for herself. Each main character has her own unique qualities, A-ko is super strong, B-ko is rich and a brilliant engineer, and C-ko is extremely cute (through the eyes of the characters). B-ko uses all her resources and goes to extreme measures to try and achieve her goal. This provides for some great action and comedic scenes. Meanwhile, there's another unknown menace that threatens them all.... Definitely, a great movie to watch.

This is the first movie in the series of six Project A-ko movies. I am glad to have it on DVD because it is bilingual, and it is like owning both VHS copies (subtitled and dubbed) in one package.

Summary: Wacky comedy.
Review: Project A-Ko is a wacky comedy about a high school girl, who is gifted with superhuman strength, and her equally outrageous friends. It has a lot of Japanese humor which is actually quite endearing and funny. Kind of anime that will put a silly grin on your face.

Summary: a warmhearted anime spoof
Review: Project A-ko centers around our heroine A-ko (naturally), her friend C-Ko and B-ko who wants to be friends with C-ko a bit too much. All the major characters have personality flaws (A-ko's fiery temper comes off as the most normal of all of them) and the end result is a massive battle involving fighters, tanks, a huge alien spaceship, B-ko and A-ko (naturally).

Most of the overused anime cliches get good (meaning humorous) treatment in this film. There's a megalomanic alien commander with a screw loose, transforming mecha with serious design flaws, bungling alien spies, overly heroic fighter pilots and a rather unlikely end to the alien command ship. This is definately the lighter side of anime, and a lot of fun.

The animation isn't quite state-of-the-art anymore and the DVD is very sparse on features (nothing more than a chapter/language select), but I think it's worth it for the story and characters alone.

Summary: Anime I liked! (I'm not a huge anime fan)
Review: For the anime unaware: Get the subtitled version!

Excellent bizarre combination of comedy and action. Subtitled version has better flow to it, but dubbed version is okay if you're used to anime.

After having seen this about 5 times, I find that I just like the characters. This may be one of two Anime DVD's I buy, A-ko and Ghost in the Shell.

Summary: an anime classic!
Review: I was fortunate enough to see this at a convention with about 100 other people. the whole series is fantastic, over the top doesn't begin to describe to it. I laughed so hard the first time I saw this I cried. for any fan of anime this is a must have. I can't wait to get the rest of the series on DVD. to really appreciate it, watch it subtitled, and give yourself 2 points if you figure out who A-Ko's parents are.
