Rating: Summary: So, **cking, good Review: this one has Stephen Dorff(Blade and Cecil B. Demented) as a cocky and sort of a hero for a while guy...that's basically it until it gets good... Dorff is over the top and great and Reese Witherspoon(OVernight Delivery and Cruel Intentions) is always sweet and great.
Rating: Summary: R E A L I T Y C H E C K ! ! ! Review: This picture fits in the line of 'hard-violence' ninetees pictures like PULP FICTION and RESERVOIR DOGS however less rough around the edges. It appears to be created out of a concept (like saturday afternoon teen-specials on drugs or violence, in this case a protest to the medias' attention to and dramatisation of 'hot news' items) rather then pure action/reality thrillers like Tarantino's pictures. Eventhough it is a Tarentino-like-movie without the raw and rough edges it is still a movie that combines the hard life of a suburban teen with extremely violent scenes and therefore interesting enough if you like this genre. Notice the flashbacks to the 'fun-stop' hostage situation and the total lack of reason to live inside as well as on the outside... S.F.W. You plunge right in a hostage situation where two completely different teens are submitted to a gang of criminals. The movie deals with the media-aftershock of the whole situation and the effect it has on the grungy caracter of Spab. The hard violence, irony, comedy, parody, music and thrills make this movie into a sub (to be) cult movie. I can also highly recommend the soundtrack of this movie featuring Soundgarden, Radiohead, Marilyn Manson and Gwar!!
Rating: Summary: Don't be fooled by the bad reviews Review: To begin with, this movie is not for the dim witted. it's not for the shallow people who go through life just scratching the surface of things. There is a deeper meaning to this movie than the majority of the population can catch on to. Every word, every movement, every scene has an underlying meaning and message. thats why it's a cult classic, and why it was so hard to find for so many years (until MGM picked it up on dvd thank you!!!!!). This is one of my fav. movies, i've seen it a hundred times, and each time i find something new in it. But as i said this movie is not for the dim witted, if you can't read between the lines, your gonna be lost.
Also the only reason anyone below would compare this movie to pulp fiction is because in the beginning of the movie you learn the broad picture. But they use flashbacks and cut scenes to tell the story of the hostage situation, by showing specific scenes, while cutting in and out of the present and the past.
