Summary: Good Movie First Time You Watch It
Review: Well, The movie in fact is really good, but y'know it gets boring after seeing it twice, so don't buy this DVD, just rent the movie for an evening. You'll save money with that!

Review: This is a really funny and really great movie. All the actors do their best and it comes out great. It's about a regular guy named Ed(Matthew McConaughey) who gets hired by a fading TV station to be the star of a show. He is to have his life recorded. With quarrels with his older brother, relationships with girls (Jenna Elfman and Elizabeth Hurley), and the meeting and death of his real father make this a movie. It's an awesome and funny movie. Even Ellen DeGeneres is funny. I don't want to spoil the rest of the movie for you but it is great. Buy it or rent it but you will love it. It's awesome!

Summary: UNCONVINCING...
Review: I expected so much more by director Ron Howard. But, instead, I saw a good idea totally wasted, due to a bad, bureoucratic, uninspired and heartless direction.I kept going fast forward all the time, so bad were some moments in the movie. Don't tell me this is a comedy, because there are very few moments to laugh. Also, ELizabeth Hurley in the cover art is a fake, because her part in the film is very brief. ANyway, I give it two star because the cast did its best, but was badly directed.

Review: This was pure hollywood drivel. Woody Harrelson completely overacts (as he always does) and the movie just does not seem close to real. Ellen D. is ok but the story is so contrived that I had to bail out. Truman, which is a fair comparison, was a much better movie.

Summary: The Truman Show for Dummies
Review: A watered-down Truman Show for people who couldn't understand or don't want to deal with the larger concepts in The Truman Show.

Summary: STOP COMPARING THIS TO THIS TO THE TRUMAN SHOW!
Review: Why the hell is everyone comparing this to the Truman show? THe two movies are TOTALLY different. I've watched the TRUMAN SHOW and EDTV, and this is what I have to say: If you think the Truman shoe is good, go get your head checked! I barely smiled in the Truman show, but I laughed so hard I nearly wet my pants in EDtv. In Truman, the guy just overdoes EVERYTHING, but in EDtv, the things that happen are normal everyday things that are embarassing and hilarious(e.g. Ed starts scratching himself in the morning and discovers the cameras have filmed that! ) My favorite part would have to be how he and Jill were making out on the table and he fell off and squashed her cat(Mainly because I hate cats)! THere was absoloutley NOTHING good about Truman, but I could just watch EDtv over & over again without getting bored!

Summary: DVD is a winner
Review: Although I prefer the truman show over edtv comparing DVDs is a no brainer. You get so much more here. Two audio commentaries, deleted scenes, a making of featurrette, and some other tidbits.I still feel that this movie is a real sick look at societies obsession with television and this dvd reinforces this viewpoint. The extra features really make this movie a treasure for any collection.

Summary: EDTV is like The Truman Show.
Review: I ordered this movie off Pay Per View and I didn't like it. I thought it was a takeoff of The Truman Show. I really liked The Truman Show better than this one. This movie wasn't very good.

Summary: JENNIFER ELFMAN
Review: "I liked it as much as The Truman Show; especially the camera operators following him around.

Summary: PURE BRILLIANCE
Review: People seem to be obsessed with comparing this movie to the Truman Show, why? The two movies are completely different, the only similarity being the voyeuristic element of both films. I didn't really enjoy the Truman Show whereas EDTV is a real pleasure. Basically its just a good ol' fashion love story (but not soppy) in a more than plausible setting. There is a good cast, with Mathew McConaughey giving his best performance yet. The movie is funny but also dramatic and thought provoking. You become very involved with this film, almost to the extent where you believe it is reality which I guess lays testament to the quality of the movie. If you're looking for something fresh and light hearted then this film is for you.
