Summary: Funnier than Ross Perot
Review: Actually, my review would be somewhere BETWEEN three and four stars, but since Amazon.com doesn't allow me to do that, my loss. A very funny movie that's worth a watch. For Mystery Science Theater fans (like myself), it's a five-star better-than-Fargo-or-Casablanca classic, but for others, you may just not get it. I love it, though. Great one-liners and overall fun. It'll make you love bad movies again (if you ever did, that is).

Summary: The Ultimate Comedy
Review: Okay, first of all I'd like to say that I'm a long time MSK3K fan. I do regret having to inform you that I have never had the pleasure of watching even a single episode of the original show. This is one of my top ten favorite movies. I highly recommend this movie for any person who has a sense of humor. I would have to say this up there with Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and both of the Bill and Ted movies. Those are classics along with every Mel Brooks movie. You will never get bored of this movie. Every time you watch it, it gets funnier, you catch more of the jokes, and just realize the pure genius of it. For example: "Come on doctor. I can't believe that a man of your curiosity wouldn't want to know, who I am? Where I come from? (If I have pants on)." Now that is absolute genius! I mean you can watch it "...again and again and again and again and again! Like I have."(Pee-Wee's Big Adventure joke)If anyone is considering getting this movie I hope this will convince you that it is well worth it.

Summary: This Island Earth.... "Can be yours, if the price is right!"
Review: This Mystery Science Theatre episode was shown in a few selected theatres in the US in 1995, wildly popular with the fans of course, but ignored by everone else. But now you can own it on DVD! At 74 minutes it is not longer or remarkably different from a television episode, but the higher budgets mean the host episodes have better sets, plots, and special effects than usual. The general story behind MST3K series is explained for the newbies (crazy professor tries to drive test subjects mad with bad films, in order to find the perfect world domination weapon. Test subjects try to stay sane by using their sense of humor and relentlessly mock the films) so it is a good introduction if you are trying to get your friends hooked on the series. If you haven't seen MST3K, think Beavis & Butthead, but with bad movies instead of rock videos, and three clever guys instead of two morons. Only, two of them are robots. And MST3K came BEFORE Beavis and Butthead. But never mind.

The movie spoofed is "This Island Earth", a classic 50s sci-fi film where the cream of the world scientist community is kidnapped by an alien race with enourmous foreheads. The aliens' planet is dying and they need the scientists help them save it. Or else help the aliens exterminate the human race so they can take over our planet instead. Which ever is more convenient. It is the kind of movie that is actually quite good for the genre, but still very goofy. In my opinion, these are the type of films that become the best MST3K episodes.

Show hilights include the time the hero's fighter jet is telekinetically controlled by the aliens and flashes a bright green. MST: "Mmmm. Suddently I have this refreshing mint flavour". Our hero frantically tugs on the rudder between his legs. MST: "Ehhh...Mike? Should we be seeing this?!" Hero: "I have no control!" MST: "I just keep eating and eating!"

There are no extras whatsoever with this DVD (unless you count chapters as an "extra"), but the picture is very sharp and the (stereo) sound is good. Appearently Siskel and Ebert gave MST3K: The Movie "Two Thums Up", and Ralph Novak from People called it "The funniest movie to appear in theaters this year". I can only agree. Not the best episode ever, but a must in your MST3K collection.

Summary: MST3K for the regular man
Review: This is a great movie for anyone who loves MST3K. I am a die hard MSTie who loves the show with a passion. The movie is not quite as funny as the show (due to fewer obscure refrences) but for the casual MST3K viewer this is a blast. Although awfully short, only 78 minutes.

Summary: Mystery Science Theater 3000: The saviour of Sci-Fi
Review: The Science Fiction part of the entertainment industry can be an unsure place, you either hit, creating a beautifully intricate movie that most people enjoy, or miss, leaving the audience with a bad taste in their mouth as they leave the theater. With such a narrow margin for error, many movies have ended on the wrong side of the mark, making no profit at all.

That's where Mystery Science Theatre 3000 (MST3K, for those familiar with it) comes in. They cash in on the sci-fi that no one wants to see, and make it bearable, if not side-splittingly hilarious.

Case in point: Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie.

In this under-ground classic, you see Mike and the bots (as well as the evil Dr. Forrester) in all their glory. Heckling the sci-fi classic (which this one actually is) 'This Island Earth.' Some will tell you not to bother with this movie, but I am here to tell you: "You must see this movie with your own eyes, if you go on someone else's opinion, you might be left in the dark for all eternity, never knowing the beauty of this movie."

The premise is very simple, you watch 'This Island Earth' with the silohuettes of Mike Nelson and both of his robot friends, (Crow and Tom Servo) while they constantly make jokes at the movies expense. If anything is funnier than that, I am a three-legged chicken dancing around in a ballroom with Kim Baysinger. Forget that, please.

All in all it's a beautiful performance. while introducing the characters, for people who have never heard of the television series, it retains a great deal of the humor that appeals to those of us who still try to tape every single episode that airs on The Sci-Fi Channel.

If you are still uncertain about this great movie let me give you an explanation as to why it's hilarious. No other movie actually has the guts to stay for it's own credits and heckle themselves, commenting on everything from the 'special effects wizardry' to the fact that there weren't any puppets in this film.

Seriously, if I were to suggest one movie to buy on DVD this holiday season for anyone from the age of 13 to 47, it is Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie.

It's the most heart-felt movie I've seen since that one with Natalie Portman. Forget that too.

Summary: MST3K - We Miss Ya!
Review: MST3K is the single show responsible for keeping Comedy Central afloat when Comedy Central first aired and only offered endless stand-up routines as well as the fan-favorite MST3K. Once Comedy Central secured itself in the Cable TV realm, they fiendishly kicked Mike, Joel, and the 'Bots to the curb. Fortunately Sci-Fi picked them up and gave them a decent slot, but have since relegated our buddies in the SOL to the ridiculous Saturday 0800 slot! For a show that deserves to be on at night, watching it Saturday mornings seems to be a letdown. Regardless, even though the show aired its final episode, MST3K is still a treat to watch no matter when the bean counters air it. The movie was great to see in the theaters with Mike and his robot friends in all their big-screen splendor offering an enjoyable night out for the fans as well as new Misties. This film has been chastised for being "just another episode" but if it makes you laugh, then who cares? I'm pleased to see that more of the episodes have been offered on VHS, but Rhino needs to crank out more on DVD as well! So, if you and your buddies enjoy watching movies and cracking jokes, then sit back and watch the pros do it. From humble beginnings on a public-access channel up in Minnesota to the silver screen, MST3K has secured a spot in B-Movie history and the hearts of Misties everywhere.

Summary: MST3K: The Movie - Only for the Special Sence of Humor
Review: For all those fans of wit and sarcasm, Mike Nelson, Tom Servo, Crow, Gypsy, and Dr. Forester play in one of the best MSTies ever made except for the fact that it was kinda short. I recommend this film to all the fans of MST3K & fans of the Dilbert character Wally, I could just see him down in that front row. Also, Don't forget to watch MST3K every saturday of the Sci-Fi channel.

Summary: Not as good as the series but still a grand old time
Review: This was a cool movie based on an even cooler TV show. But don't let the fact that it is not as good as an average episode divert you from buying this flick. It has some great jokes and is basically fun movie to watch with a group. The one setback is that the skits in between really aren't up to par with the regular stuff.

Summary: "Dear God, I left the iron plug in! "
Review: "As my kids would say at a time like this...."

"....'YOU'RE NOT MY REAL FATHER! '"

Only a line as hilarious as that can come from one movie: Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Movie. It's the movie based on the show that combines historic, yet boring, sci-fi flicks with hilarious commentary by the 3 wise-cracking main characters, combined with a plot that kept viewers watching until the series ended. But the series will live on forever in this movie, which is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I fell off my chair laughing ever since the movie started. But this movie has the kind of humor not everyone finds funny, only people who talk loudly in movie theatres or prefer jokes that involve good timing will love this movie.

So, in short, if you loved the show and you love a good laugh, you'd have to be insane not to see this movie.
