Summary: Absolutely Splendid.
Review: A real sleeper. Don't miss this movie--buy it, rent it, whatever--it has a "real feel" for Hollywood and for relationships. It tells a very funny, perceptive story in an unassuming and highly entertaining way. The Big Picture is Hollywood at its best. Easily one of my favorite movies.

Summary: I would rather be stabbed by a fork than live in California
Review: A very funny movie. I highly recommend buying it! Shows what kind of people live in LA!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Diamond in the rough?
Review: I don't know how I missed this movie. I had never heard of it until I saw it on cable, but it is hilarious. Fran Drescher is too funny as the wife of the director, ol' Kevin Bakey is darling as always and Teri Hatcher is quite convincing as the the social climber.

Summary: One of the best films of the 80's!
Review: I don't know why this film didn't win any academy awards for that year. I love movies and this was one of the best I've seen next to "American Beauty" and "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".
I went to art school in California back in the 80's and this film hit the nail on the head. It's so realistic about the movie industry and it's superficial personalities and players.
This is how a movie should be made! Definately 5 stars!

Summary: See the film before your first job in the "Industry"
Review: I saw this film a few years after I worked for a very famous film company in Nothern California. This VERY humorous film is right on the mark about what it is like to work in the film industry! I laughed so hard my stomach hurt for hours after after the movie. If you are going to work in the "industry" as they say in the film world, see this humorous film to see what it is really like!

Summary: An unwelcome Guest
Review: I'm a huge fan of Christopher Guest's brilliant troika of mockumentaries - Spinal Tap, Waiting For Guffman and Best In Show. Unfortunately, this doesn't even get close to those movies in humour or performance. Kevin Bacon looks constantly bemused, Michael McKean embarrassed and JT Walsh can't wait to get off camera. Robert Altman did this so much better with "The Player", while this tries to satirise Hollywood but just ends up mis-firing.

I gave one star for Martin Short's over the top performance and one, cause heck, I still like Mr Guest.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: very 80's...but Guest's subtle humor is still there!
Review: If you are a Christopher Guest fan, you've got to see it. I think his humor is awesome! Not a great show. not anywhere in the same league as Spinal Tap, Best In Show, and Guffman, but still good.

Summary: Skewed Comedy at It's Best
Review: It's very hard to predict what movie a given person will like. Many people find this movie to be ho hum, at best. It's not conventional big release comedy, like The Addams Family, Mrs. Doubtfire, or Look Who's Talking. It's unselfconsciously odd in a very wonderful way. If you like movies such as Rushmore, The Princess Bride, 1000 Clowns, and Groundhog Day, I think I can guarantee that you will absolutely love this movie. It's my favorite comedy of all time.

Summary: The Road to Riches
Review: The quintessential movie about the business for our generation, in which a good-hearted Kevin Bacon wins his film school's student competition, momentarily thrusting him into the spotlight, as well as the sights of Hollywood's bigwigs, and hence onto the road to artistic ruin. Superior writing, and exceptional performances from the entire cast, especially Martin Short as Bacon's completely over-the-top agent, highlight this gem directed by Christopher Guest and featuring Michael McKean, both of Spinal Tap.
