Summary: Good Movie First Time You Watch It
Review: Well, The movie in fact is really good, but y'know it gets boring after seeing it twice, so don't buy this DVD, just rent the movie for an evening. You'll save money with that!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great entertainment right to the hilarious ending!
Review: What a nice romantic movie with Matthew McConaughey and Jenna Elfman. I got everything I ever wanted in a chic flick right here. Ellen DeJeneres was superb. It was great to see Rob Reiner again, and as usual he didn't let me down. This kept me interested right to the very end and it was a very funny ending indeed. Would like to see more clean, funny entertainment like this!

Summary: Barely passable as entertainment
Review: When I saw the ad for this movie, I first thought "Truman Show." Now mind you, the plots of these two movies have little in common, except that both are about an "average Joe American" 's entire life being broadcast 24/7 for the entertainment of America.

EDTV has some good moments, but the balance of the film just plain bores. For example, the director felt it necessary to do "box within a box" kind of secnes, i.e. scenes where we see movie viewers watching Ed (the main character) on TV. The first scene establish Ed's credibility with the actual movie audience (that's us), but director likes to beat a dead horse deader or something like that, bceause he does it over and over and over and over and over and over again. And to ensure we can't escape it, he spaces these relapses throughout the entire movie, to let us know he can't let go of his infantile impulses.

The plot is pretty uneven, too. In the end, Ed is saved by someone else, so really that third person steals the spotlight. And of course there is basically no suspense or plot development until the last 3/4 of the film, and the final "climax', if you can call it that, spans less than 5 minutes of the entire movie. In short, I think the director shot too much of the film too slowly, than realized his budget/production scehdule was nearly up, and then tacked on a "rush job" ending to the movie.

If you saw Nutty Professor (same director), then you havea feel for the unevenness of the movie's development. The actor who played Ed did a fantastic job, though, and he carried a doomed film through as good as a condemned man burdened with other people's could.

Summary: Hilarious movie with a great storyline
Review: When you read the overview of "EdTV," you might think that it's similar to "The Truman Show." But it's not, in my opinion, it's better. The difference is that in "EdTV," Matthew McConaughey volunteers to have his life broadcast on television 24 hours a day for the next month. After Ed gets with his brother's ex-girlfriend and the cameras get in the way of his life, he must find a way to get out of the camera's view. But that will be a lot easier said than done.

Unlike you might expect it to be, "EdTV" is hilarious and it will keep you interested during the whole movie. The funniest part of the movie is when you find out how Ed will get his life off the television screen for good.

If you like good comedy movies that have a great storyline, I recommend getting "EdTV" today.

Summary: STOP COMPARING THIS TO THIS TO THE TRUMAN SHOW!
Review: Why the hell is everyone comparing this to the Truman show? THe two movies are TOTALLY different. I've watched the TRUMAN SHOW and EDTV, and this is what I have to say: If you think the Truman shoe is good, go get your head checked! I barely smiled in the Truman show, but I laughed so hard I nearly wet my pants in EDtv. In Truman, the guy just overdoes EVERYTHING, but in EDtv, the things that happen are normal everyday things that are embarassing and hilarious(e.g. Ed starts scratching himself in the morning and discovers the cameras have filmed that! ) My favorite part would have to be how he and Jill were making out on the table and he fell off and squashed her cat(Mainly because I hate cats)! THere was absoloutley NOTHING good about Truman, but I could just watch EDtv over & over again without getting bored!

Summary: Great movie.
