Rating: Summary: If I wanted the book, I'd get the book Review: "The book is sooooo much better than the movie". "If you have a brain, don't watch this movie". Well, tsk, tsk, aren't we the intellectual snob? Listen, if I wanted to "read" this "story", I would have gone ahead and bought the book. I certainly didn't buy the video itself for the rich, intellectual content either. Demi Moore is nude. That is why I bought it. I didn't see much difference between the unrated and R-rated versions, though the unrated version claims to have two extra minutes of footage. Of what, I don't know. No big deal, really, except you're out about ten bucks for another version that is basically the same.Again, most of us who own this video or DVD likely bought it with the realistic expectation that we wouldn't be seeing Oscar-caliber material. We bought it to see Demi Moore nude! What else really matters when you have THAT? Some people just expect entirely too much out of a movie. I was actually pleasantly surprised, though. While it certainly isn't award-winning, the film is often pretty funny and sometimes touching. Something tells me the actors and director had nothing more than this in mind when making it. Demi Moore is hot...when you stop and recognize that fact as the dominant selling point in this you'll enjoy it more. A decent, although not great storyline is a nice bonus.
Rating: Summary: 2 stars for Demi Moore Review: This movie is not a fully erotic movie as it might be expected. But it is not a clever and funny movie either. So what makes Striptease bad,I guess,is that it doesn't manage to satisfy any taste at all. Erin Grant (Demi Moore) must strip for a living, and her biggest fight is against her ex-husband to get her little daughter back.Meanwhile a [physically excited] congressman (Burt Reynolds)gets fixated on her,a murder occurs and things get quite complicated. Striptease has humor at times, but not much really happens. The plot,if there is any,is pretty weak. The only thing that makes this movie worth watching is probably Demi Moore and her dancing on beautiful Eurythmics songs. However other than those "music videos",there is nothing else to care about in the movie.I wish Eurythmics used Demi on their videos, which would make making a movie like Striptease unnecessary. The DVD doesn't have a single extra as it suffers from being an old release,so I can not show any reason why you should buy this DVD,except if you are a hardcore Demi fan..
Rating: Summary: The most sensual i've seen demi moore yet! Review: Although some of the casting in this movie is a bit cheesy, the story line isn't too bad. Some of my favorite actors are here, like demi moore for starters, the t T-1000(a.k.a. robert patrick)and even smokie and the bandits burt reynolds! The story revolves around a stripper who ends up in a custody battle over her daughter. If you've ever wanted to see demi moore as close to au natural as possible then this movie in my opinion comes as close as were probably gonna get! But i'll leave something to the imagination! Just watch the movie and judge it for yourself!
Rating: Summary: Worth a second look. Review: A terrific little sleeper that was overlooked on its release. Great combination of humor blended into the dark side of strip clubs with a good dose of real politik. Demi Moore is outstanding as a newcomer to the "Eager Beaver", a raunchy strip club where she does a more than adequate job of raising pulses while Ving Rhames stoicly watches over her as self-appointed guardian, and Burt Reynolds has never been funnier as a U.S.Congressman that would make Bill Clinton proud! The scene where he covers himself with vaseline to make love to Demi's "essence" is hysterical. The real surprise here is Robert Patrick as Demi's sleazy, disapproving, illiterate trailer trash ex that somehow managed to wangle custody of their daughter. This movie has a few low points but overall I give it a solid 4 brass poles. The DVD transfer is excellent with 4 stars for both picture and sound. I dont know how much extra "content" is on the International Unrated version but I can tell you this....Demi is very credible in this role. The interactive menus the DVD claims however will get you nothing but scene access and languages. There are NO extras. But who cares, it's hilarious! Not to be taken seriously.
Rating: Summary: Despite negative reviews, Striptease is a great movie Review: Demi Moore was excellent in this film. She is not only a beautiful woman, not just body wise, but within her soul. Demi plays a divorced woman, Erin Grant, who looses custody of her beloved daughter to a scumbag of an ex husband. (This is typical justice in the real world. I relate to this movie because it happened to me and I haven't seen my daughter for 13 years.) Anyway, she had a respectful job at the FBI and looses it because of her husband's criminal activities. Then she looses her daughter because she doesn't have a job. So she becomes an exotic dancer to make the money needed to get her daughter back. It's excellent money for her but she doesn't really like what she's doing. However, she performs with class and dignity, regardless of the stigmitism of "strippers." Ving Rhames, who is the bouncer Shad, has a soft spot in his heart for Erin. Anyone calling her a "stripper" will find a drill gun spinning at their forehead. She is a "dancer." Burt Reynolds plays the corrupt, twisted Congressman who finds his "angel" (Erin) and persues her. There is legal snaffu's, funny scenes, and Erin is witty and courages because she will not give up on her daughter. Her love for her daughter is deep and real. Demi learned to dance like an exotic dancer for this film and after just having a baby at the time, she looks great. This film you will either like it or not. If you're looking for a lot of skin, T&A, this is not what you want. This film does have class. Demi's brief nudity in the film just proves that she is a confident woman and a great actress.
Rating: Summary: that "Little Bird" is going to leave you breathless! Review: Demi Moore came under intense public attention for those "pictures", little did they know she was going to star in a movie about going starkers...STRIPTEASE. STRIPTEASE is one of those "guilty pleasure" movies that have a certain campy charm, it's certainly more enjoyable that it's bastard-sister-film; SHOWGIRLS. Erin Grant (Demi Moore) loses the custody battle for her daughter when she is fired from her job. What's a girl to do? Go and shake her booty, what else?!! Down at the Eager Beaver Club, where the beer isn't the only thing on the menu, Erin finds a job prancing around to such innocuous tunes as "Little Bird" and "Money Can't Buy It". Soon, a mysterious murder and a hilarious excuse for a congressman - Dilbeck (Burt Reynolds in an inspired performance) prove more of a hindrance than a help as Erin decides to expose her lousy ex-husband as the drug-pushing, slack-jawed yokel that he really is, all the while spinning around a pole in a G-string. Sound exhausting? Nah! We're only getting started! Overall a pretty enjoyable caper. The DVD transfer is beautiful.
Rating: Summary: Stunningly Bad Movie Review: This is a stunningly bad movie. The plot is basically Demi Moore's character as a single mom who needs money so she works in a strip club (yes, stripping) and has men problems (crappy ex-husband, lecherous politician). While Demi Moore looks great in this movie that was not even worth the two hours or so I wasted watching it.
Rating: Summary: Best Movie Ever!!! Review: I love this movie... It is the best ever made and I love to watch it late at night, if you know what I mean. Demi Moore is the best when she starts stripping, I start stripping! I watch this movie every night of the week!
Rating: Summary: Dance 4 me, Demi! Review: Demi Moore is an out of work FBI agent who's trying to regain custody of her child. She resorts to become a stripper & winds up exposing a sleezy congressman of his dirty deeds. DEMI IS HOT HOT HOT!
Rating: Summary: Average flick Review: First of all what I dont understand is the bad reviews I have been reading. Some seem to be pretty irate about this film. Looking at the dates of the reviews, 1999-2003,this movie was released in 1996 and had been on cable and later on free tv,yet it seems like these people lived in a box and then decided to get out and buy it. I'll admit that I have bought this film because I think Demi is hot. For the irate people, do us all a favor and watch a movie before you buy it . Would you buy a car without test driving it?
