Summary: I hated Jim Carrey until I watched the Cable Guy
Review: I sat through the ridiculous gestures of him in both Ace Ventura's and Dumb and Dumber. After watching the Cable Guy I figured out it was not Carrey who was annoying, it was the playwrite. Cable Guy is written wonderfully. The whole movie was basically making fun of the O.J. case, and those 80% of households who watched it, game shows, talk shows, relationships, those medieval times nuts, and cable serviceman. It is a parody the whole way through. I had a cable guy come and install my cable after watching the film and he acted the same as in the movie.

Jim Carrey was super in the movie. The best part was when Steven, played by Broderick, asked the Cable Guy about how his friend payed his cable guy $50 and he got all the movie channels free. Then the Cable Guy goes up to him stunned and says, "You mean illegal cable?" then he says, "Who told you this? Give me his name, I want it." He ends up giving him free cable. It was so funny. I watch that part all the time.

There are a bunch of funny parts. I watch the movie all the time.

Summary: Most Underrated Comedy of the Year
Review: If you are a the type of person that enjoys watching Jim Carrey comedies like Ace Ventura 2, go stick your head in the oven, don't bother seeing this movie you won't understand or appreciate it anyway. In my opinion this was Jim Carrey's finest and funniest acting performances of his life, way better than the baffling boring Truman Show. Under the directorial debut of the edgy Ben Stiller, The Cable Guy is one of those rare movies that can be viewed as a comedy or as a serious psychotic thriller, I see it somewhere in between. It is probably one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, I only wish "the masses" liked it so there would be a sequel.

Summary: A change of path for Carrey
Review: If you are looking for a film where Jim plays the type of role we have come to expect from the likes of Ace ventura and Dumb and Dumber, then your not going to get what you are expecting. However this is not to say that this film isn't great, becasue it is. Although it didn't do so well at the box office, I consider this to be one of his best performances, and it has some great comedy moments that will rival the highlights of any of the great comedy's.

Different = Certainly, Dark = Possibly, Will I enjoy it = most definitly

Summary: Wired!!
Review: Perhaps Jim Carrey's most versatile film performance, The Cable Guy is destined to be a cult classic.

Each line spoken by Carrey is worthy of repetition for its pure comic content. The blend of characters, voices, and faces exhibited make this a must-see for any 1970's t.v. sit-com buff.

Don't listen to the doomsdayers that say this is a "dark comedy" and not worth the $20 million Carrey earned. Hold onto that rewind button, use it every few seconds until you've memorized the movie and you'll agree, it's genius.

Summary: Excellent, unappreciated film
Review: I'm not sure why this movie got so many negative reviews. It was a great study of different psychological types. It has a lot of dark humor. The cable guy is weird, hilarious and frightening at the same time. The character flaws in Brode- rick's character bring about most of the mayhem that befalls him. The major weakness is the attempt to explain the origins of the cable guy's pathology, but Jim Carrey does a brilliant job at portraying this misfit. The movie is funny and sad at the same time; maybe some people couldn't tolerate the combination of feelings. Definitely recommended.

Summary: Jim Carrey At His Best
Review: I simply can't understand why this movie didn't do better at the box office. I found it incredibly hilarious. Jim Carrey is excellent and Ben Stiller's brief cameo appearances in spoof of the Menendez brother killings are right on. Matthew Broderick, as the Cable Guy's prey, comes off a little annoying and stiff, though he plays his part relatively well, too. When his character says to Carrey's, "You're not even a real Cable Guy," you have to laugh, not just at the seriousness with which Broderick's character disparages him, but at the fact that such a jab is made, as if being a "real" Cable Guy has an honorable ring to it. Consequently, I can understand why some representing workers in the Cable industry initially opposed the film. Some scenes are simply comically brilliant: the pick-up basketball game; Porno Password with Mom and Dad; the Medieval Times dinner feast; and opening cable installation scene. To top it off, the movie actually has a message: parents, don't let the "boob tube" raise your children or they might just grow up to be like Carrey's "Chip Douglas," the disturbing Cable Guy. As a big fan of Jim Carrey, I actually find this movie his funniest yet. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this/his type of humor.

Summary: relevant social commentary interspersed with dark humour
Review: Jim Carrey's 5th mainstream feature didn't perform up to the standard of his previous ventures at the U.S box office and was subsequently ignored by close-minded fans. However, 'The Cable Guy' is an unconventional film that combines a relevant sub-text that refers to the level of media influence over rejected, disaffected individuals lifestyles and the deconstruction of the family unit that ultimately paved the outlet for this grim social reality. The film's paradoxical manner dosen't always succeed but is still worthy of praise despite it's obvious shortcomings in the analysis of an intergral aspect of mainstream/popular culture. Worth checking out nevertheless.

Summary: HILARIOUS
Review: JIM IS THE MAN! HE IS SO FUNNY TO ME. HE ALWAYS SEEMS TO MAKE ME LAUGH NO MATTER WHAT MOVIE HE IS FEATURED IN. THE MAN IS TALENTED.

Summary: Riveting! I cramped in two places watching this movie.
Review: Whoever thought this was funny hasn't lived. It's more disturbing than any comedy! Even the lighter jousting scenes are brewing with forboding and menace. Jim Carrey's cable repairman is a definate threat to Broderick's character, whose innocence is frustratingly unrealistic at times. Watch it if you already intend never to let another repairman in your house AGAIN!

Summary: Don't you want somebody to love!
Review: Well, it is not my favourite jim carrey film and not one of his best either! He plays the part very well, and so does Matthew Broderick. Not my best but i still like it as it has Jim Carrey in it!
