Review: This was an exceptional movie that I believe anyone can sit down and enjoy whether youre into the whole punk scene or not. If you are a punk..this will definetly make you take a 2nd look at yourself..watch for the scene in which Stevo is at a party and a girl refers to his clothing as a uniform..intense stuff..definetly recommended

Summary: Not a documentary - still worth watching
Review: This was really fun to watch. So many films have treated punks as clowns who spit on everything in sight and idolized Sid Vicious. This is closer to what being a punk was really like - punks were regular people with their share of neuroses, trying to figure out their lives just like everyone else was. It's not a documentary - get "The Decline and Fall of Western Civilization" if you want that. The story in this film (and there is a story, no matter what anyone else says) could have worked for lots of American kids in the eighties. There are epiphanies, but they're not the same old tired stuff we've been tortured with in movies about Baby Boomers. For example, the protagonist says he really expected the world to end, but when it didn't, he had to figure out something to do. And the soundtrack is fun - not exactly what punks liked back then, but still good because punks won't be sick of the songs on it (I wasn't).

Review: I really liked this movie. and was totally amazed at the resemblence bob had to Travis bickle, in taxi driver. i don't know if that was intentional or not..but i wass blown away! Matthew Lilliard is a very colorful actor and he really helped the film come to life... check this one out!

Summary: rebels without a cause, not to mention brains
Review: What was punk about? It was about thinking for yourself, listening to music better than what the radio offered, and finding the right context for a productive, meaningful life outside the norm. If you were lucky and creative enough, maybe you formed a band. Does that sound naive? I grew up in Salt Lake City circa 1985. Sure, lots of bored youth dropped acid or got drunk, but I can't recall anyone beating up on people outside the SLC punk-rock clique. The director obviously felt a need to add some violence, but what this clunky movie really needs is a story. Apart from the vapid, "After School Special"-like ending, its worst feature is that it never takes the trouble to tell us what these kids are rebelling against. Parents? Reaganism? Mormons? The chance to attend Harvard Law School? Who cares when the characters have all the depth of a thimble? They're just stupid punks looking for a fight.

Summary: AN ENTERTAINING LOOK AT THE PUNK ROCK SCENE IN THE EIGHTIES
Review: This film brings back memories of when I had just graduated from high school! Although this film has no substantial plot, it is a well acted, entertaining look at the punk rock scene in the eighties. Matthew Lillard is amazing as Stevo, bringing his usual dose of energy to the role. The movie is basically a coming of age story which tells what is going through the minds of these 'punks', and how they finally figure out where they're going in life and why. A major disappointment for me was the soundtrack. It could have included better examples of hard core punk than it did.

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: First I'd like to state that having lived in Salt Lake for nearly a decade (including during 1985, the year this film takes place) the idiot from Boston who called SLC "one of the most repressive cities" is dead wrong. I've found SLC to be no more repressive than any of the many other places I've lived. But to get to the movie, it's a hoot! Matthew Lillard ("Scream") is absolutely killer as the narrator/protagonist of this film. The film uses one of my favorite techniques - non-linear storytelling: it doesn't all take place in chronological order. Instead, the writer/director introduces facts as they become necessary. I've always thought this the best way to present a movie, and recent movies (see "The English Patient" & "The Sweet Hereafter") have proven me correct. As for the Utah jabs, either I'm an excessively tolerant soul or else they were very lighthearted. I laughed right along with them. And my inside knowledge of certain scenes (see the one at the Great Salt Lake) only made it more a hoot. Most native Utahns won't be offended by this film. Most people who have never even lived there won't be left out in the cold by the local references. Instead, this is a pretty, great movie (now that's an inside joke) about growing up, and EVERYONE has been there (saving those of us who still refuse to grow up).

Summary: I hate Matthew Lillard's acting, but he was exceptional.
Review: This movie is a superb piece of work. It goes to show how fads come and go. More importantly it shows the heart, mind and soul of a punk named Stevo. It's a man vs. society that turns into man vs. self. I don't want to give anything away but it is a very true to life movie that shows there is nothing in Salt Lake City but a city that has nothing going on. I does feature excellent acting from all actors and I have to give a big thumbs up to Adam Pascal making his film debut. Adam was Roger in the Original cast of RENT off and on Broadway. Just a side note about Matthew Lillard, he was excellent in this. If he keeps choosing roles that fit him like this, we just may see him in better movies like SLC Punk and not crap like the Star Wars/Top Gun rip off, Wing Commander.

Review: This is one of the very best movies I have ever seen not just becuse it embraces the punk culture as a good thing bet it shows how punks realy are, not a bunch of freaks in a passing fad but a true part of this culture.

Review: This movie was the exception to the normal for punk rock films, it was great. It was true to form, with a strong story of the true feelings of alienation of youth and the need for growth, even if you are a punk bent on anarchy. This was punk, when punk was dangerous! Why was this a amazing punk film? Great story, and strong production.

Review: This movie is amazing!! I honestly did not take Matthew Lillard seriously as an actor before I saw this film. He is incredibly moving, as are the rest of the fabulous cast in this movie. It works on many different levels, and has a lot of depth to it... Definitely a must-see for anyone, but especially those with a particular interest in the punk-rock scene...
